Being a season ticket holder at Snowbasin I have three thoughts on the crowding. First the season started late this year (mid Jan) and EVERY skier in Utah and the surrounding area was suffering form extreme snow fever. Second, due to covid restriction the capacity in the gondolas and chairs were at about 50% capacity or less slowing down and extending the line length. Third, it was a SATURDAY which is typically the busiest (worst) day of the week to hit the slope. Skiing midweek mid Feb until today I have been literally skiing up to the chairs. Longest I have ever waited for a gondola, mid week, has been 5 minutes. Was just on the mountain yesterday, (Saturday) with no line problems but it has been mostly spring skiing throughout the last three weeks of March.
Hard to say, it all depends on the weather. BUT if it was like last year the skiing should be excellent. Keep in mind, the week between Christmas and New Years is very, very busy even if the snow is mediocre. Those dates are actually blacked out on my season pass.@@reimiya1262
Love that you make the best out of every situation and looking at the cup half full. Those were crazy long lines. Regardless, glad you were able to do a few fun runs and still managed to capture some amazing shots. Nice stealth camping spot as well. The slanted ones are always frustrating when you end up freezing at the foot of the bed, but it looked it that one worked for you!
thanks amanda! i definitely try to remain optimistic rather than get all worked up about the lines because i dont think that would really help haha. definitely the longest lines ive ever been in though, so cant say i wasnt frustrated at times but oh well! and yep! the lines somewhat thinned out as the day went on and i managed to find some luck at a different lift. i think i just made a mistake going over to that lift so early in the day. and yes i was so slanted i was basically sleeping on the wall the entire night but luckily it was pretty warm outside (45F) so i wasnt cold. thanks for watching again amanda!

After we reached a lovely long drive up the narrow, curving road that led to the tiny base, we were greeted by: a small hotel with maybe only 8 rooms, a tiny base information hut, where parking was just a few steps walk across the road, and an absolutely magnificent view of the area---followed by a hop onto the lift (NO ONE ahead of us!), which brought you to the top of the (admittedly maybe only a half of the terrain being developed was available at that time to skiers)---but that terrain covered so many beautiful runs of all kinds, including glades with fun trees! It was almost like wilderness skiing. And, thankfully, my sore, injured leg just perked up when it saw the amazing day ahead of it!! My twin and I will always remember that one memorable day of 'enchanted' skiing. I wonder if any old documentaries on You Tube show Snowbasin at that time?
