Rrally enjoyed this. If you’re able to make more of these gym-type workout videos of the pros it would be great, I sometimes lack inspiration how to gym for my tennis!
@@neelabhchoudhary2063 I would say Djokovic for example is in an excellent shape. He's just lean and flexible, he's strong but without any hypertrophy.
totally agree. good form in everything crosses over to tennis: balance, posture, smooth movements, control on the negative phase (slow and deliberate). I can imagine Federer or Djok, if they did the same workout, how different it would look in form. Right?
Additionally, if you want to see good strength training form, checkout Alacaraz's weight and speed training from JC Ferrero's academy. There are some videos going around . And then look at the difference in explosiveness, balance and thus speed of Alcaraz. Ferrero said we focus on building the body of a tennis player first. That seems evident.
You want strength to prevent injury, enable less percentage effort from the muscles with each rep (leads to serious endurance). Any more than that , practiced with typical weight lifter tensions and stress, will be counterproductive to tennis form, smoothness: basically the things that generate smooth power and do not wear down the body structures. You need smooth acceleration in tennis. You need to practice this with every type of training including weight training. Straining and grunting and throwing your joints around and weights around will not improve your tennis as much as smooth, controlled, slow (especially in the negative phase) movement of weights. Full range of motion if uninjured, pain free range of motion if building up an injured part. It's very pleasureable to ttrain this way and produces solid results on the court. Big, jerky, sloppy movements may be wasted time for tennis. Think about this, at any given level of tennis skill, ANY improvement in smooth strenght will improve your tennis results. You don't need to do incredible things, just little bit more by little bit more, comfortably, feeling good, no pain, proper breathing, contracting the specific muscles that are necessary while relaxing the ones that are not. This is the same way you develop great tennis form, it's all the same. So few know, and so few are great.
Good to see a tennis player actually pumping some iron. Pure, old fashioned muscular strength is always beneficial. It shows in Verdasco's game.

Every exercise video has the same drum beat
you would think that a professional tennis player had better form in those strength training exercises...
So it isn't just me. It's so odd to imagine not even his coach giving him a few pointers to correct his form.
