Nice one Cecilia. Train ride to Venice has been on my list for a while now. Even more motivated to try it after seeing your experience. The facts you shared through the video were interesting.

What train line has that route without a train change in Milan? We will be Zurich in late September and then traveling to Venice. Thanks!

Hey! If you look on the SBB website on their timetable, there’s usually a 7.33am train from Zurich to Venice and a return one at 3.18pm. (SBB are the Swiss national railways, I would really recommend getting their app for while you’re in Switzerland and using their EasyRide function for shorter journeys - if you google “SBB EasyRide” it’ll come up.)
It’s worth checking prices on the Trenitalia site as well, sometimes they differ, and Trainline etc also sell tickets for this route. (It’s Zurigo to Venezia S. Lucia on the Italian site.)
While the Gotthard Base Tunnel is closed for passenger transport, the route is still the one I took as well, up through the mountains, but at some point in September they’ll reopen the tunnel and the direct train will go through that instead - which still gets you some lovely views before and after the tunnel, and the train is an hour faster that way so you can’t really lose either way :)
One thing to be aware of is that within Switzerland you don’t need reservations on almost any “normal” train, but in Italy it’s a requirement and as a result it’s part of booking a ticket - which you can do on the SBB or Italian railways site - so book in advance if you can!
Hope you have the best time!

@@cecilia.travel Thank you Cecilia! The video was great and your response was very helpful. I think if you can boost the volume on your end it would help, I had it at full volume and had trouble hearing. The viewers can always lower their volume if too loud. You will do well on UA-cam IMO!
