I don't think there is any contest, the better made bike is the Time. The way the bike is made is fundamentally different, manufacturing tolerances are better. People might say I'm biased because I'm an OE supplier to Time but their other OE supplier is NTN who make the headsets, as far as I am aware, it's the only biike that uses NTN bearings in the headset. The BB, Frame, Headset combination are no accident - the parties involved are not going to be associated with poor manufacturing quality.
Mapdec speaks highly of the ride quality but when you rode it having a camera in your hand, you couldnt feel any difference and i was like why bother making such a neat bike. The bb area is super round of time
What a wonderful decision to have to make.... Time for me based on classic lines, ride quality, and non proprietary parts. Easy to live with long term.
I don't think Look and TIME have ever made frames on Friday afternoon's, in contrast to other brands who seem to only make frames on Friday afternoon's!
Exactly. I just got a new canyon bike and the quality is appalling. So many quality issues but they don’t care and offer a 100 Euro Refund. Ridiculous.
These are the only two manufacturers today that I would buy a bike from. I recently bought a time. Just love the simplicity of it. Perfectly engineered and executed. It’s a bike I will keep forever
I ride a Time Fluidity rim brake model My first carbon frame bike and it is a joy to ride At 74 years young I enjoy long days in the saddle Thanks for your comparisons both Look and Time are the best bikes ever ❤️
In 2021 I got a 795 Blade RS, built up with DA/HED vanquish wheels. It is the most amazing riding bike I have ever had or ridden!! It has the power transfer and front end stiffness with nice vertical compliance in the rear triangle…. Rides so smooth… even over rough SoCal roads.
I see it as unfortunate that Look succumbed to popular demand to lower the seat stays on the new 795 to increase stiffness for the ProTour… nice for them, but I see it as a disadvantage for the non-racer century rider like me…
For sure. The blade doesn’t hide from its intended purpose. For the non competitive sportive rider the 765 and the new 785 will hit that sweet spot for you.
I love Time!! I am on my 3rd Time frame and they ride great. I am in Southern California and you see very few Time bikes anywhere but when you do it feels like you are part of a bike family. Special!! Great job on the video!
I ride a Time Skylon, which is my 3rd Time. I live in Tokyo and every time I encounter another Time their certainly is a feeling of Kindred Spirits. I also marvel at the Look RS Blade 795. Both Look and Time are made in their own factories and come w a Lifetime Warranty.
I live in so cal. (Orange county) I'm hoping to join your ranks. Im going to have to build my ADHX gravel from scratch, all times builds are a little high for me. So im starting with the frame! Again, hopefully...
The cobalt blue or forest green with carbon weave on the ADHX are stunning. I only wish they would offer a more endurance oriented geometry. Some of the angles are a bit different between the ADH and ADHX, but things like stack and reach are nearly identical and very race oriented.
This takes me back to why I love my Colnago C40!!!! The classic design, the amazing attention to detail which I feel are both art and engineering along with the best riding road bike ever made on multiple accounts.
Very interesting comparison, your arguments are reasonable and sound. Most of us can only buy one bike at time; I choose the Time ADH21 and I can confirm, it's stiff, yet it rides quiet and smooth, especially uphill or on rough surfaces. That's an important point for me, because it helps to be able to ride longer. I like the approach of Look as well, but I'm really happy with my Time, which I think is also fantastic value for money (compared to several other high end brands). You have a great bike shop and I think Your choice of brands makes every customer like Buridan's donkey.
I found a Look 765 Gravel RS frame (Black Chromatic) in California. Shop shipped it to me, building it up with Force AXS 1X and 2 wheel sets (700c skinnies and 650b fatties)… Very excited.
A very fair and balanced review, these brands are clearly superior to everything else but for perhaps a proper custom frame build. They are different but the same, equals in their category.
I own a Look 795 (and 565) from the previous generation. Best bike I ever had and riden. And a joy to look at too😊.Time makes beautiful bikes to but a little bit to conservertive in geometry and looks.
Do you only stare at bikes or do you ride them occasionally as well? Take a ride on something like the ADH01 with some nice wheel set and you won't want anything else ever.
😂 You don't have to worry. I don't take her out occasionally but frequently. No doubt a Time rides fine. Just prefer the steep seattube angle, adjustable seatpost and aero cockpit. Everyone should ride what fits them best.
I think the Alpe d'Huez paint job is one of the best on the market for race bikes. I do like the Look patterned color scheme, but still think the Alpe d paint is top 🙂
Scylon should be coming this Spring. Waiting on that to decide whether to go with ADH or Scylon. Unfortunately in the USA, Look is hard to find in store. Time is more friendly and responsive via email or phone. Also word on the street is they are opening a factory in South Carolina.
@@Mapdecthat is the end of Time then, in my humble opinion. What made Time frames great was the fact that the production was lower compared to bigger names, allowing better QC for instance. Needless to say that the actual quality of Time got lowered when it moved from France to Slovakia. Once being manufactured in the US, I'm afraid it'll get even lower, before being moved to Asia to match the demand... Anyway, @Mapdec great vids as usual :)
I've heard the South Carolina location will be more of a warehouse than a factory. It's supposed to be a distribution center for America, and frames are supposed to stay being made in Slovakia. I don't know what will actually happen tho
I can't decide. Both fantastic bikes. I have the LOOK 785 Huez Disc which is a great bike for locally hills riding. Looks stunning. I'll change from 2x Shimano to try 1x SRAM with the ADHX and explore some gravel roads.

I've owned a Look 675 for ten years and I also have a Time Skylon that I've had for about 5 years, both very different bikes but the quality is second to none. The French do know how it's done.
Amazing bikes, both brands, I love the more traditional look of the Time the way the fibers are shown is magnificent. The way they build their bikes is more timeless, you would never be bored of your Time I think. For me personally it is important to appreciate a bike for what it actually is and not how certain hot topics of that era are incorporated in a bike design (dropped seat stays, aero design and integrated cocpit to name a few). I have a titanium bike for those reasons and up until now I always thought I would never buy a carbon bike again... so very well done this video!
Opted for a Time after a fit. The ADH is surprisingly short and tall for a race bike. Coming from a Giant TCR, this thing is worlds apart in terms of handling and natural damping. It may weigh a little more but the “ride quality” sound bites are 100% true.
I would love a LOOK 795 Blade RS & I can afford to buy one but I can imagine the banter, on the club run, when I'm dropped by someone younger on a cheap bike 😀
I think a comparison with 3T would be interesting. 3T has also their own way to wave their carbon from raw carbon fibers direct in their company in italy. (Ok maybe only their Racemax Italia… not sure) I am curious how they compare. Just done my first self build custom bike with a kinesis frame. And love it. So Look, Time and 3T is actual a bit out of reach for me but i like your content.
I went to my LBS a few days ago with a parts list to get an ADHX 45 built up. If I had to pick a road bike right now, I'd probably go for the 795 Blade RS. But my SL7 is still good enough for the foreseeable future. By the time I'm in the market for a new road bike, there'll probably be a new Scylon and a 785 Huez to consider as well.
In addition to Cannondale, I have been looking at Time bike. I emailed Time and actually got a response back. I asked them about an updated Scylon (internal routed cables was my specific question). And they stated a updated Scylon bike was coming out in Spring of 2024
Well done comparison! I bought a used 2011 Time NXR Instinct - looks new, has rim brakes, and all the Time advanced manufacturing and superb ride! Best of all - the frame was $500!

It's pretty rare to see a Time in the Sunday chain gang here in Toulouse area. The Sunday randonnée is a social thing. Still you're right some have a time and it's a pride and joy and they're bike for a lifetime. Look are also not around I think price is an issue. They've not got the collector caché of a Time but are more expensive than the big brand bikes. We've got your specialized, trek, giant main dealers I guess mopping up a big percent of sales. I'm still riding a Focus with calipers and a Cinelli gravel bike. I'd go for the Look sometimes a few discounted ones can be had at the local online dealer in their warehouse shop...which is 20 mins from home😊
I’ve been considering Look and Time for my next bike. I’ll probably wait until the new Scylon is released before making my decision. Historically I have always run Shimano but for my next build I’m thinking Sram.
Same. Bought one this year, first CF bike (other than a hardtail mtb). Thing rides so well that I thought I was gaslighting myself. A true all-road - A fast gravel bike and a fast road bike depending on my wheelset. Elated a splurged on it.
@daveanolik8837 do you own an ADHX all-road or an ADHX 45? I'm looking to build a 2-in-1 bike and I have become enamoured with the ADHX line! Cheers 🎉!!
@@Chayeazy I have the ADHX with two wheelsets so I can easily swap from road to gravel. The fast gravel kids are definitely trending toward 45mm++ primarily for screaming fast descents. I run specialized pathfinder pros 38mm, and for me personally it’s more than enough, at lower pressure/tubeless, to feel fast and safe on descents on the typical gravel here in Oregon. Thing is, I put more miles on roads than gravel, and the ADHX, with road tires, roadie cockpit (aero drop bars) and aggressive geometry (for me) it’s also the road bike I’ve always wanted - stiff, climby, fast, comfortable on very long rides. I also have a pivot LES for sloppier gravel and bigger adventures, so between those two bikes I have everything covered. The wider and (I think) slightly slacker profile of the ADHX45 would feel less of a fast aggressive roadie, but I’d love one if I could afford a single-purpose gravel racing bike in my quiver. I guess what I’m sayin’ is… I want ten primo bikes, but the ADHX and my Pivot check all the boxes for the riding that I do. 😁
I love your presentation straight to the point no BS as always if i was a billionaire one of each please but im not so may i have a Time RR model please love your video thanks .
Hey Tom. Really sorry. Don’t know what happened there. We have had email problems through July and August. Mostly with being spammed through our email. We have a more robust contact form now. Thanks for the feedback. If you are not already sorted please give us a call on Monday.
@@Mapdec it is a shame as were recommended to speak with you guys but after 2 calls and nothing after being promised a reply email etc. I have gone with my LBS who now stock Time!
Look Gravel frame is 2599.- and TIME is 3999.- so quite the difference. But damn I want the Time ADHX45 but I just cannot justify it to myself, even having the money.
If we look back in time, both brands have been created in Nevers, France. There must be something special overthere! Something about skiing, the urge for clipless and rossignols... I don't know, that's a bit strange.
Look organises races in Nevers every year. The town is fairly small and visitable in one or two days, but lots of great sceneries and smooth roads for cycling. But what honestly shocked me was the kindness towards cyclist. I mean people (particularly car drivers on road) who encourage you on big climbs or even offer water. I feel they love cyclists. Very very hilly too.
I would absolutely love to own a Time bicycle. The new adhx45 is close, but the stack is probably too low for my tight hips. Do you know if they are considering a gravel bike with a more endurance geo, high stack and perhaps a 50mm tire clearance on 700 wheels? Thanks for all your fine reviews. Now I have the brand, but need a model I can be comfortable on for a day ride ( all day!).
I really want a Time, but I cannot find any information on how stiff the frame is when accelerating. I’m on the larger side (83kg), and I feel very sensitive to flex in the BB area. I’m coming from a Colnago V3Rs which is too flexible.
From those two brands.. i propably will Look on Time 😅 Time, propably that rumored scylon. Time is more "geeky" with manufacturing process and also lack of proprietary components (but on other hand, i love Look ZED cranks) Time bikes appears to be more "classic" or "timeless" in terms of aesthetics (as a fan of classic/vintage road bikes) And also.. Time frames are manufactured in Slovakia, so it's bit local for me (Czechia)
I would jump for a Time only if they did an endrance bike with mounts for mud guards. The Look 765 does the job on paper for me but the paint is underwhelming. So hopeful Time comes out with another option next summer or Look get away from black or silver and do something exciting and classy with the finish, which they have done in the past.
I have ridden many bikes but not look or time. So far I find Colnago has the most superb ride quality. Do you know how Colnago compares to Time in terms of ride quality?
That pretty much confirmed that Time will be my next bike. One concern is the BB86, with a SRAM Dub it means not much space for the bearing. Anyone running a SRAM on a Time having any feedback?
For sure I'd pick the new Look Blade. The way that head tub connects down to the fork is aero af. I don't think Time could ever do something like that.
Wow amazing quality can you do a video comparing these bikes to giant trek and cannondale is we can get a better understanding. Bring the other guy in too so he ride the bikes and tell us about the ride quality
Funny, I would have made the opposite choice of "artisan" and "engineer". LOOK have always been more 'engineered' to me, with the amount of system integration, pushing the envelope on what they can eke out of each section of the frame, innovating in aero, designing frames as semi-complete modules before any major brands were doing so. TIME are the artisans - the amount of hand labour involved, tying off individual 'sock' plies by hand, wax mandrels, the traditional approach to geometry, dedication to what they know will work, making improvements when something is obviously better but not changing only for the sake of change. TIME are far and away the most 'spirited' feeling carbon bikes I've ever ridden. They don't try to win on grams, but they ride light, while remaining inexplicably comfortable. And as you showed, they feel strong and unyielding in the hand but that somehow translates to a planted feeling on the road. It also inspires confidence - you don't feel like you're floating on top of this fragile wafer-thin monocoque. Riding on eggshells, as it were. It's as close to the confidence you get from a good steel frame as I've felt in any material, but with the light weight and snappiness of carbon.
Have a Time Fluidity 2019. Im a huge fan of their gloss raw carbon not so much the full paint jobs on their race models. @maapdec do you think the fluidity line is dead and gone ?
@@Mapdec man you just made my day I hope they do another gloss carbon version. I have the '19 with just the slight red accents and the rest gloss. Looks like I know what to wait for !
I realize you can't divulge certain information, but I'm pulling the trigger on one of these brands this year. Question is: Should I be holding out for a US produced Time Fluidity?
In this context artisan is rather Festka. These are rather different approaches of engineering. Also reminding everyone RTM is used by 3T. So it's not that much about process, but its application.
Some are using RTM but with a polystyrene mandril that is then melted out, not very environmentally friendly and how do we know all the waste material is removed. Time use a wax mandril, so better for the environment
@@garybird8646 this difference you are talking about is unfortunately pure greenwashing. The impact is near identical, as both solutions are circulated in the facilities, but at given quantities both pose a serious threat, should an accident happen. It's not just one piece of candle wax you have with Time
@MrSzwarz what part of Resin Transfer Molding is about weave, huh? As said, it's not just one aspect. And to be honest, their pattern is not that complex even compared to some shoes, let alone any carbon sheet layup. Hence the greater weight, by the way: the repeated pattern adds fibers where those are not necessary because the spot is some distance away from where they are required.
As much as I'd like a Time ADHX, there is still it costs significantly more than a Look 765 Optimum. Plus I think the 765 suits my riding style more (sit and spin).
Having ridden a lot of exotic brands over the last 20 years, I don't think I'll be buying another make after Time. The '23 ADH Disc is without a doubt my favourite bike. Nearest carbon bike that has come close in joy to ride is my old (now sadly broken) Colnago EPS. Comparing more modern carbon like my Cervelo R5, the time has better ride quality, equivalent stiffness and is a few hundred grams heavier. The Time is much better made; everything just fits together perfectly. The Cervelo less so. The Cervelo was probably faster, but I didn't look forward to riding it like I do the Time. If / when they issue a modern update on the Scylon that might be the last bike I ever buy!
Fingers are crossed. I came within a hair of the ADHX. It's gorgeous. But for me with my sports injured spine the 2cm stack diff from where I currently ride is too great. I'm ready to dispose of a good chunk of $ on this thing. My mid life crisis is on hold. @@Mapdec
What is the one manufacturer that absolutely ensures customer certainty in build quality, post sale support and value for dollar? You want to buy a terrific all around road bike and you want zero concerns, what are you buying, knowing the most expensive doesn’t mean much today.
Nicely done. Thank you.
Thank you too!
And 25% off on the time website atm. That could swing it for some !
The ADHX is my lottery win bike, and Time just edge it for me for desirability. But they are both the pinnacle of frame manufacturers.
Same. Bought one this year, first CF bike (other than a hardtail mtb). Thing rides so well that I thought I was gaslighting myself. A true all-road - A fast gravel bike and a fast road bike depending on my wheelset. Elated a splurged on it.
@@daveanolik8837 Nice 👍 Not envious at all 😉
@daveanolik8837 do you own an ADHX all-road or an ADHX 45?
How much time does it take for Look/Time to make a frame from start to finish, vs a brand that isn't as detail oriented?
I love your presentation straight to the point no BS as always if i was a billionaire one of each please but im not so may i have a Time RR model please love your video thanks .
Great Bikes❤
Love the Time shame you guys never got back to me with a quote on a ADHX45 build! Even after chasing and being assured I would get the quote
Hey Tom. Really sorry. Don’t know what happened there. We have had email problems through July and August. Mostly with being spammed through our email. We have a more robust contact form now. Thanks for the feedback. If you are not already sorted please give us a call on Monday.
@@Mapdec had already called twice way before August, earlier this year. Shame as was going to do a sweet build!
@@tom_a_burton_ I’m sorry we let you down Tom 😞
@@Mapdec it is a shame as were recommended to speak with you guys but after 2 calls and nothing after being promised a reply email etc. I have gone with my LBS who now stock Time!
@@tom_a_burton_ Hey. I just found your quote. We sent it to you on the 1st Feb. I’ll send it again now.
Can you get the mudguards yet for the look 765 optimum?
Look Gravel frame is 2599.- and TIME is 3999.- so quite the difference. But damn I want the Time ADHX45 but I just cannot justify it to myself, even having the money.
You only live once. If you can afford it get the one you want.
I like too say "my coffin won't have a luggage rack on it, so I might as well spend it"
I have one of each. ADHX for road and 765 for gravel both are super bikes to ride.
Very nice!
Your lucky, a dream pair!
How does the 765 behave on both road and gravel? I’ve heard it makes a fantastic endurance style road bike… what size tires do you run on it?
Not using the 765 for road, gravel only. Currently running 40 mm. However the Time makes a fantastic endurance road bike. Running 28mm@@VendetaBrown
i dont have TIME to LOOK at this video
😂😂😂
Nice🤣

If we look back in time, both brands have been created in Nevers, France. There must be something special overthere! Something about skiing, the urge for clipless and rossignols... I don't know, that's a bit strange.
Look organises races in Nevers every year. The town is fairly small and visitable in one or two days, but lots of great sceneries and smooth roads for cycling. But what honestly shocked me was the kindness towards cyclist. I mean people (particularly car drivers on road) who encourage you on big climbs or even offer water. I feel they love cyclists.
Very very hilly too.
Saw what you did there 😉
Impressive. I'll go some day. Thx for your description
What make are those rather elegant wooden bike stands? 😊
Oh. Just some random thing off AliExpress
Great video I’ll take either one but the money is a problem for me
I really want a Time, but I cannot find any information on how stiff the frame is when accelerating. I’m on the larger side (83kg), and I feel very sensitive to flex in the BB area. I’m coming from a Colnago V3Rs which is too flexible.
Please come and try one. Although if you are coming from the V3 I would wait until they launch the Scylon
From those two brands.. i propably will Look on Time 😅
Time, propably that rumored scylon.
Time is more "geeky" with manufacturing process and also lack of proprietary components (but on other hand, i love Look ZED cranks)
Time bikes appears to be more "classic" or "timeless" in terms of aesthetics (as a fan of classic/vintage road bikes)
And also.. Time frames are manufactured in Slovakia, so it's bit local for me (Czechia)
As an artisan, I'd take the engineers bike, the Time.... also, the paint colour fade into immaculate lacquered 4k weave on '45 would seal the deal.
Getting Look 795 RS with mcc Evo 47 end of the month
So, all the bikes in the video are listed in the description but not the cool looking stands :) Anybody who knows what they are?
I would jump for a Time only if they did an endrance bike with mounts for mud guards. The Look 765 does the job on paper for me but the paint is underwhelming. So hopeful Time comes out with another option next summer or Look get away from black or silver and do something exciting and classy with the finish, which they have done in the past.
I have ridden many bikes but not look or time. So far I find Colnago has the most superb ride quality. Do you know how Colnago compares to Time in terms of ride quality?
One of each please ☺️
Look 486's for me. That said I've a Time vx edge frameset I'm dying to build up and try out see how the ride compares. P
I think I might need to pay you a visit. I want an all day endurance bike to replace my Roubaix.
Cool. Come try some things and have a chat.
That pretty much confirmed that Time will be my next bike. One concern is the BB86, with a SRAM Dub it means not much space for the bearing. Anyone running a SRAM on a Time having any feedback?
Have an adhx running sram. Works great so far but only have about 3k miles on it
I thought it was BB386 not BB86?
For sure I'd pick the new Look Blade. The way that head tub connects down to the fork is aero af. I don't think Time could ever do something like that.
Wow amazing quality can you do a video comparing these bikes to giant trek and cannondale is we can get a better understanding. Bring the other guy in too so he ride the bikes and tell us about the ride quality
We have vids on the other brands. Enjoy.
@@Mapdec i mean with how the top brands like compared look compared to brand to giant and trek
Do you have a LOOK demo bike? I had a TIME VXRS for years & it's been the benchmark since regards ride quality. Intrested in a 785
Yes. Mostly in size L.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm size M 54TT. I'll drop you an email/call soon as - just got back from Mallorca. Thanks
I’d go for the Time. Both beautiful!
Have a Time Fluidity 2019. Im a huge fan of their gloss raw carbon not so much the full paint jobs on their race models.
@maapdec do you think the fluidity line is dead and gone ?
New Fluidity is coming very soon.
@@Mapdec man you just made my day I hope they do another gloss carbon version. I have the '19 with just the slight red accents and the rest gloss. Looks like I know what to wait for !
Been dreaming of owning a Time for 20 years. One day.
Great comparison. Shouldn't we be comparing the ADH with the 785 Huez rather than the 795? I currently own a 785 RS and am looking into getting a ADH.
Yes. I did mention it. Perhaps too briefly. New 785 soon I think.
Thank you. On a separate note, may I ask if a RTP surface on the ADH, be left as is without a coat of paint?
@@lasalleklang1973 I would protect it for UV and chip damage somehow.
Look all day
I love my LOOK 695, but if I were to buy another carbon bike, it'd definitely be the Time ADH
I hope TIME is taking care of you, I think everyone wants to buy a TIME now! I'm waiting until they start making them in the South Carolina factory.
Buying one of each is the obvious solution.
Easy! Time doesn't make a TT bike so my roadie is a Time and my TT bike is a Look, problem solved! 🙂
"I'm going to get into so much trouble for this video." You're right. You didn't compare pedals. 🤣
Haha. I’m going to make that video.
Why did you not use Time Alp Duez 21 as an example for endurance bike?
Because it’s a discontinued line.
I realize you can't divulge certain information, but I'm pulling the trigger on one of these brands this year. Question is: Should I be holding out for a US produced Time Fluidity?
Depends. Can you wait a year?
@@Mapdec Arrrrrgh!!! 😥😥
But thank you!
I’d never buy a carbon bike, but if I did, it’s Time or Look.
Time for me.
what about cube bike tho?
Behave 😂
Yeah, and 3T's quality control is garbage. It is in fact about the application. 🙂
Would never trust a designer over an engineer
As an engineer myself I'd say it's a little more complicated than that. Not all engineers and designers are created equal.
I don’t think you can have one without the other.
Just get one from each brand ;)
How about the Fluidity! Will this drop for 24? Will it drop at all?
Yes. I have seen bits of pictures.
Fingers are crossed. I came within a hair of the ADHX. It's gorgeous. But for me with my sports injured spine the 2cm stack diff from where I currently ride is too great. I'm ready to dispose of a good chunk of $ on this thing. My mid life crisis is on hold. @@Mapdec
Look = quirky French artist. Time = brain surgeon
To be honest I've never had the desire to own a look bike. Time, Bianchi, Colnago for sure
Why choose. (Looks behind to my Time VXRS or over my shoulder to my Look 595 Ultra.) And like your kids, you're not allowed favourites😊.
Jordan.
Nice
It’s Time…..
for a Look at a Time
What about bmc time machine vs time tt bike that would be a tasty vide6
I am going to get the first look at the Look Monobalde soon
@@Mapdec no pun intended on that statement lol. Otherwise cool 😎 I can't wait
What is the one manufacturer that absolutely ensures customer certainty in build quality, post sale support and value for dollar? You want to buy a terrific all around road bike and you want zero concerns, what are you buying, knowing the most expensive doesn’t mean much today. For example, if all I need is a bottom bracket, I know Hambini is 2nd to none.
