I'll be honest I've flown over fifteen time since I got this card and never has anyone let me in a lounge with my cards. The amex lounges you need platinum and I'm always not in the right terminal for the ones I'm accepted into. So major fail there
Is it also like the American one where there isn't foreign transaction fee? I can't seem to find any information on this. They only talked about how there is a rate. But nothing in terms of the fee.
Amex Canada really needs to provide better value for both the Gold and Platinum card members as the multipliers for MR points are atrocious compared to the Colbalt. They made the Platinum worse too recently by decreasing the MR points on dining from 3x to 2x. Its almost like they are trying to force members to carry two cards, either the Gold/Colbalt or Platinum/Colbalt.
Unfortunately the Gold Canada just isn't no where near as good as the Gold in the States.... :( we dont have all the perks like Uber credits, and 4x points for groceries and dining just to name a few that the states get. The Gold and the Aeroplan reserve are my daily drivers along with a BMO MC and I have never encountered any bottlenecks of the stores I go to. Malls in Toronto like Yorkdale and Eatons accepts AMEX, so thats a huge win. As for Loblaws, loblaws tbh is one of the worse place to grocery shop anyway because of their prices at almost double as others. The great thing about Amex too is if you want to apply for a different card, its not a hard pull unlike all others (TD, RBC, CIBC, Capital One, etc)
I have the Cobalt. Does it make sense to apply for the gold? Been wanting the gold for a while now. Not sure if it’s worth it when I have the cobalt card.
I have both the cards. I used the cobalt for one year to get the 30K welcome bonus. I still use it for dine in and restaurants as it has a really good multiplier. After a year I applied for the gold mostly for the lounge access with priority pass and the 60K welcome bonus. Gold also gives 100 dollar travel credit and 50 dollar nexus. I guess the 250/year worth it with gold.
@@rothy9hi, so the 30k welcome bonus will be given after a year of having the cobalt? It’s not even a year and they are inviting me to upgrade to gold card. Should I fall for this invite or just wait til the 30k welcome bonus comes.
Honestly the multipliers on the Cobalt make it a much better card. You can pay for those additional 4 lounge visits with the value. It’s not even comparable.
I don't know, I have tried the Platinum for a year, and am one of those people that fly domestically 3-4 times a year in Canada. For my personal case, I think the combo Gold/Cobalt are a good 1-2 punch for me. As I have only ever hit up Plaza Premium Lounges. Platinum was nice, but its multipliers just don't make sense when you have the Cobalt. If life changes to more global travel, I may think of getting the Platinum again. Good video BTW...
Thanks so much! Very good points - for a certain individual, the cobalt gold combo is an inexpensive duo that can really help you rack points. Just depends on your lounge preference’s honestly!
The fact that this man has 3.3k subs on here and about 500k on tik tok is mind boggling. The reviews of these cards are unreal!!
Hahah thank you bro!! Different ball game here my man just takes time!

Love your videos, thanks for the great info:)
Annual fee isn’t waived on passport for first year
Wait what’s the lounge access??
Access to pp lounges
Hey brother can you do a review on the new RBC Avion cards!!! Comparison!!!

@@rothy9 I ended up applying for the gold last months and got approved with a 30k limit. So I now have the cobalt and the gold.
Did you get it?

@@ronaldbulatao8857 it’s given on monthly basis depending on your spending. There’s a minimum spending limit to earn the bonus points
Isn't priority pass complimentary (free) with the gold card?
unfortunately not. they will charge you of your entry which I think was so weird.
Do you know if this card shows on your personal credit credit bureau since the other amex "business cards'' do show up... thanks!
it shows up on your personal credit report

I would tend to agree with you my friend - multipliers on the cobalt are nuts. Likely makes up for the lack of perks and then some.
Insurance is better with the Gold Card. Losing out on possible cancellations or interruptions is rough.
If you think that’s bad, wait till you hear about the Gold in India. It’s waaaaaaaay worse. And it’s plastic
This guys LEGIT
