Dear Peter, when I was in Lviv, the lady tourist was telling me why do you want to go to Kharkiv there is nothing there haha. Later on, I realized that Kharkiv is almost over 98 per cent, Russian people. Where Lviv and other cities on the other side are mainly Ukrainian speakers. What you see is all soviet stuff. When I first visited Lithuania I thought I was on a space ship when I boarded a train in the 1990s. All that is gone now. You wont find that any where because such things were built for the people not for the Oligarch. Only the Oligarch have such things in the western world like drinking a cup of tea a hotel that cost around 3000 pounds a day and the cup of tea cost around 120 pounds. That soviet stuff disappeared from Lithuania and now the Native cannot afford even a flat. So they are all gone abroad. For a young woman with a new baby full pay for three years and stay at home for three years and the doctor would come to visit every month. It is all gone now and no more three years payment for anybody. There were things that are almost impossible to imagine in a capitalist society. All gone now. Yes there were bad things too not ignoring that, it was part of a totalitarian state system.
Peter go to Ternopil region!!! Ternopil amazing
@Контроль Народа wrong, that is the Russian spelling, the Ukrainian spelling is how he has it. Yes a lot of people still use Kharkov , but not all. I talk by message every day to a person in Kharkov😁😁
You made me feel proud of my city) Thank you!
Peter Santenello Hey peter u are the best in doing these experiences and i totally enjoy every episode u made😘thank u so much
Just saw this in 2022, after the war started. Thank you for giving a voice and a human perspective to the people and culture of Ukraine. I cannot imagine what they are going through.
war started 20th feb. 2014, where crimea was occupied by russia. in '22 started full-scale aggression/invasion, second stage of war that going for almost a 10 years.

I am from Kharkiv. I have tears in my eyes, watching how beautiful it used to be. Peter really succeeded to show the spirit of the city. Most of the city centre is destroyed and most of the people left. And to hear them talking about the metro as a potential bomb shelter when it actually turned out to be a bomb shelter... How little did we know...
Watching this since the war began. Breaks my heart most of this has been destroyed 😔 Stay strong Ukraine 🇺🇦💛💙
I always say:
Kharkiv - the most suitable and convenient city in Ukraine. No jammed traffic, free parking, stores for the finest shopping , underground, nice people.
Glory for Ukraine, my dear Ukrainians!
It was quite nice from what I experienced!
Kharkiv is a really beautiful and calm city. I studied there for 6 years and I can say it's the best 6 years of my life yet. In Kharkov, you feel safe and happy. Clean air, serene environment and lovely people.

You know well that the Russian language was forced on all occupied countries of the Soviet Union...
Half if not more of the soldiers now fighting to defend their country speak Russian.
Since the invasion even some of the Russian speakers have determined to improve their proficiency in Ukrainian because they now hate what Putin had done to them, their families and their land and no longer want to speak the language of the aggressor.
Zelensky grew up in a Russian speaking family... and he is the President.
@@shooster5884 Don't you people see what is Zelensky doing to Ukraine ?!?

I can't believe you guys!
There is no need to tell me that the man who is distroying your country is from russian speaking family! I know his family's history. I also can tell that his children and grandchildren is going to have very beautiful life. That man is collecting some generational wealth (as we speak!) by reaping apart national wealth of Ukraine!
I had a close friends in Kiev and Kharkiv...I know what I'm talking about! How come Ukraine, with all that land and resources was the poorest country in the Europe in 2020?
It doesn't take much to see that some logic is missing....
Please don't tell me that the war is a reason. I'm talking years, even the whole decade before the war.
I have a Slavic blood in me! And I am not a Russian.
It breaks my heart to see Slavic people dying 😢...hearting each other.
But, I am speechless my friends! Your conclusions makes me sick to my stomach...But, after all, I am overloaded with sadness 😢

Take care of your brain cells! Do not let Zelensky's lies in!

There is no "real" name, there is name in russian language and there is name in ukrainian language

Spent some time there over a decade ago, and I was also struck by the maturity level of the young people. Also, by how PRETTY, stylish and FIT the young women were! Being from the US, it was very hard not to notice almost a complete lack of obesity -- kinda like the US back in the '60's or '70's.
Most of the people I had contact with were friendly, VERY warm, and VERY welcoming.
I weep for these people now. Most of the short time I spent there was in the port city of Mariupol, which was hit VERY hard by this war, pretty much destroyed and left in complete ruin. My heart is broken...
We will rebuild it back, even better. Thank you for your warm words💙💛
What an awesome video Peter!!! Thanks for posting. I was in Kyiv in late August and was blown away by this country and its people. I fell in love with Ukraine. And you are right, the young people in Ukraine are vastly more "wise" than those here in the US. I've met so many young Ukrainians that if I didn't know their age, I would swear they were 10-15 older because they are so mature in well informed. I only got to spend a week in Kyiv, but I would love to take like 6 months and tour the entire country and I am now dying to see Kharkiv thanks to this great video!!! Where from the in the US? I'm in Washington, DC. Sick and tired of the politics here and DC traffic is one of the 3 worst in the country. Am dying to get back to Ukraine!!! Keep up the great work my friend!!!
@Jerry V I am so amazed at just how far we've fallen as a nation. I mean, how much dumber can we get? And DC politics absolutely sickens me. There are a few good politicians like Trey Gowdy and Jason Chaffetz, but most of them need to be arrested for sedition. If the founding fathers were alive right now, they would gasp in horror what we did to this nation they gave us.
Stephen Lord thank you for your words! You're welcome to Kharkiv! My lovely Kharkiv is adorably great city. You will fall in love with it for sure :)
Jerry V that was really thoughtful analysis. Situation with your country is really sad. And 1 more sad thing is that there is plenty of our people who thinks that in the US you have ideal life. They don't think about reality. Thanks that you share your opinion!
@Jerry V Alas, the constitution is a magnificent document and genius, but it is now on it's deathbed. When George Bush Jr. call is a God d*@n piece of paper it horrifies me. This is the "piece of paper" that he took an oath to defend, that all our politicians took and oath to defend, that our soldiers are dying or have died in foreign lands defending. When I hear people saying it's time to get rid of the 2nd amendment I shake my head at their stupidity "oh, it doesn't apply anymore or it only refers to muskets" b.s. What? They think the founding fathers were a bunch of "gold ole boys" that loved their guns and wanted to shoot an errant deer passing by? They knew that the last line of defense against a tyranny is an armed citizenry. History is replete with genocide following gun control. And areas such as Australia and England saw massive increases in crime after passing their gun ban laws. We Americans have become such morons I don't know how we survive. Really about tanks being moved across Ukraine? I'm not surprised because if you read the book, "The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and its Geostrategic Imperatives" by Zbignew Brezezinski (which was written in 1997), he stated that THE key country (one of 5, but the most important of the 5) the US had to gain control of to further it's agenda and be the dominant power in the world is - you guessed it - UKRAINE. That's why I HATE American politicians as they will kill a million people to garner power and fill their pockets. My heart breaks for Ukraine when I hear about the war and such misery and US politicians are behind their misery and sorrow. I would love to arrest all of them (most of them) and send them to jail for the rest of their miserable lives. I long for peace and prosperity for Ukraine and her people.

Greetings from Jordan ❤️
Jason Quinn a lot of reasons
Many students came after recommendations of their relatives who studied in Ukraine, as you know the arabs studying since the time of Soviet Union in russia and Ukraine
And everyone loved it and recommended to others.
Another reason is a lot of agencies in jordan advertising for studying in Ukraine bcz it is cheaper than other countries not only in Europe, also in arab world
And these agencies made contracts with universities but mostly with karazina
Jason Quinn the big difference is the transport. We don’t have metro , tramvai or Troleybus .
And the parks are so beautiful and cared of .
The universities in Jordan are better because we have a stronger policy.
This thing i wish will improve in the nearest future (esp my university karazina).
The best thing that we have in common the people are very nice in compared to other countries .
What I didn’t expect really that the Ukrainian that nice , but i was wrong , the best people i ever saw are Ukrainians
And i loooooove borsh soup

The world is filled with great people who want to share their homes and country with those who want to see it ! If people are willing to get out and travel, the life's will change for the better ! Keep up the great work . All the best, Monte from California
I was always curious about Kharkiv. Loved this video. Great music. Crisp edits. Perfect flow. Well done 👍
I live in this city and i've been so many times to all these places but... watching this video i got chills! What an awesome city we live in!
Hi mate, I watched your video, it is very interesting. Kharkiv is my hometown. I sincerely thank you for what you showed and told the beautiful city of Kharkiv to people. Big respect to you ✊✊✊
Bro, that’s my hometown ) thank you for sharing your positive experiences!!!I’ve visited there recently myself after almost a decade and was fascinated with the change
Awesome video. You captured the feel of the place for us. It makes me want to go there too. Well done.
I am just glued watching your vlogs about Ukraine this week trying to understand what is going on in that side of the world....Thoughts and prayers to all Ukranians...

Thank you so much for this wonderful video!!!!
I enjoyed to watching it!!!!
You make me feel proud of my lovely city!!!!!
Thanks for sharing Kharkiv experience...
Peter, thank you so much for showing Kharkiv like this! I enjoy living there, but there are lots of those who grumble and take things this amazing city has to offer for granted. You just showed such a lovely "outside view" of Kharkiv, actually refreshing many of my first impressions I got when I came to study at the Kharkiv University and live in this city in 1992!
Wow i need to visit this city. I want more!! Keep it up !
Beautiful place and very impressed with how sharp the youth were.
Thank you Peter. Very nice video about one of my favorite cities.
Wow, hq vid man, you did put a lot of work here, and the outcome is excellent. THX.
Thanks, I appreciate that! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Let's hope it will be like this again soon. 💙💛
Looks like there's a lot of talented streetmusicians i Ukraine. Very nice of you to include them in your videos. Love it!
Thank you, man! You gave me another viewpoint on my city
I’m from Ukraine but never been to Kharkiv😱 love it
Love to see how far your videos are coming as you expand your horizons and your editing skills become slicker and slicker... awesome!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
I am from Kharkov, I was happy with you when you shared your impression of the city, you have a very cool video feed, it's nice and interesting to watch.
Great job, Peter!!! Thank you a lot!!! It's my native city. Kharkiv is the most misjudged city in the whole Europe... that is a true... i saw nearly all European city... this vlog is only small part of how amazing in reality Kharkiv. Call me and I show you a whole soul of this city.
But it’s gone lol
Kharkiv is Kharkiv. Best city ever
you are not just lucky Peter, when it comes to meeting all those amazing people in Kharkiv. I love that city as well, it is my favourite city in Ukraine. and it is full of amazing people

Thanks for this video!! Have been wanting to visit Kharkiv for a long time after Kiev and Odessa and now am hooked on going so thanks again
Your video is so impressive and tremendous.
I really love the way you made this, Stupendous work. Keep it up.

I simply adore this city! Enjoy staying there every summer, visiting my relatives. Thank you for this wonderful video!
Thank you for such great representation of Kharkiv. Your editing game is fire even if there was no audio the picture speaks for itself. Also if you think Kharkiv subway is crazy you should check out Moscow
Thanks! I appreciate that!
Oh man, thank you so much for this video! I grew up in Kharkiv, graduated from that HUGE University, went all those places that you featured in your vide. I literally had tears in my eyes )Surprisingly i never particularly liked the city and never recommend it to my foreign friends. You changed my mind! Kharkiv is actually awesome! So says my husband :D he is an American as well. We even think to move there for a year or two so that our kids learn ukrainian. Thank you for your video again!
Move to place, where 99% of inhabitants speak russian to learn ukrainian is obviously not a good idea
Thanks Liliia! I'm glad you liked the video. And thanks for your support!
Ur right, it's about the people u meet. When I'm traveling and I'm going home it's the people that I meet that give me the most powerful and strongest memories of my vacation , good video.
Awesome, I am planning a visit to this amazing city so this video is a great help thank you.
Thank you so much for this video! And welcome back to Kharkiv! I would like to make you a tour
That is SOO genuine.
Never could've told better about my home city. Just got inspired to start meeting more expats here in Kiev. Thnx!)
Awesome! So glad I found your channel! I've spent 10 weeks in Kiev and am looking forward to going back when international travel is less risky,
Thank you, Peter, now I know what city to visit next!
