After a bit of a break, I'm super happy to be back to posting videos! This one is episode 1 of a 2-part series about Kyiv, Ukraine. Episode 2 is here: ua-cam.com/video/Mq3etKVuUYc/v-deo.html
So a couple more videos from Ukraine and then some USA content. I have to say my situational awareness skills were pushed to the max in my first USA video that I just shot, I think you guys will like it :) Thanks for coming along, it's great to be back!
need part 2 asap, pls and thnx! :-)
A Peter upload what a treat! Welcome back.

Peter Santenello great to have you back Peter. 👍
Kyiv is very beautiful city. Homage to Kyiv and Ukraine from Estonia
Tervitused Eestile ka Ukrainast :)
What a beautiful country!!! It is so sad and heartbreaking what is happening right now!!! STOP THE WAR
Not every local could make such a good overview. Excellent as always) And yes, thanks for Kyiv )

@louis ecorchevolle , hey, russian troll,
continue promoting positive videos about Ukraine
by writing dozens of clueless comments. ((-;
Good job! _LOL_
@Vitalii Kuprienko , я з вами стовідсотково згоден. )
Peter, love this style of these videos where you shoot unedited on the streets. Keep it up, I’m a big fan. Cheers from Florida!
Thanks Eric!
I like your friendly attitude towards Ukraine, even though we have a lot of problems. You are positive and cool, thanks for the great videos about my city! I'm waiting for the second part to come out)).
It looks so lovely, and not in a patronising way. It genuinely looks like really nice city
Kiev is beautiful 🍀 😍
It looks very nice but if I go to Ukraine I’ll probably go to Odessa who’s my dad city in Ukraine Russian that was a few years after the Soviet union collapse since they still make people talk Russian probably will not go to Kiev
I’m going to Ukraine next year anyway
MarkyFunkyBunch , #KyivNotKiev tho :-)
Just discovered your channel! Love it. Iam from Kiev, and I just spotted my car and my house in your video😅 it was cool! 😜
How awesome to see your home by surprise like that in the video!! 😊✨
He tried to make Kiev into Disney World pretty heavily didnt he? More BS!
@@bobsaget8123 He mentioned positive and negative I thought…. Now war is upon them. Horrible.
Hopefully it’s not destroyed. Saw one video from traveling walking in Kiev they film walking videos. Another guy called Johnny FD he got a condo in the town
Lol thats cool
OMG just watching this knowing what's happening there now is heartbreaking
EXACTLY MY THOUGHTS,,,, HEARTBREAKING
That's crazy, on the 22nd of February I was enjoying a walk around the city with my friends and then, a day later fighter jets were flying above our heads
@@klauswegens9912 heartbreaking
This thing with people not sticking to traditions and constantly willing to try out something new is one hell of an observation! I started appreciating this one about Ukraine once moved to one of those "classical" European countries.
April 2022. Kyiv. All I've seen was the destroyed buildings in the news. Thanks for being able to see this mixed-up city, before all the damage. Must be heartbreaking for you and of course, the residents of Kyiv.
I was hoping you had been to Ukraine, then found this treasure, not only a city in Ukraine but Kyiv.
Well, with rebuilding it will be even more modernized, hopefully that is.
Kyiv is not destroyed.Everything that was before the war was preserved, thanks to our army and help from USA which provided Ukraine with anti-aircraft defense that shoots down russian missiles.
Wow! I didn’t know Kyiv was this beautiful! It seems a very interesting and cool place to visit. For sure underestimated. Greetings from the Netherlands!
I'm so glade you made this video so everyone can see how beautiful Kyiv is. With the war that is going on now I feel its important to be seen.
So sad whats happening right now in Ukraine 🇺🇦 such a beautiful city and country being invaded by Russians 😔
Very sad 😢
Cool insights. We watch all your Ukraine videos. We were supposed to be there now on our vacay but covid delayed us. We'll see when we'll try again. You make Ukraine very relatable and I've recommended you to others. In New York City, I managed a construction project once in Washington Heights with 2 crews, one Ukrainian & one Jamaican. We all got along great.
Thanks Bill!
The bright sunny day depicted here is such a stark contrast to the footages we are seeing today of Ukraine
This is one of the best videos of Kyiv I've seen.No sugar coating ,a very objective point of view and a lot of respect for this city.Well done and duzhe dyakuyu.
Missed your videos. Love the contrast of architecture! One of your best videos! Thank you.
This part is really breath-taking. Thank you very much, Peter! As a Ukrainian, I find this video; friendly, accurate, and not "naive" at the same time. You praise some features that you like and criticize some moments that are not normal. You judge of Ukraine really maturely as a local but preserve your friendly attitude, show the contrists and the modern trends of the development of the city. You talk with locals and dig deeply to show a lot of good and bad stuff.
The separate thing, that I exclusively adore in this video is the fact that you compare Ukraine with exactly the EU countries, not with the countries of CIS. I really am annoyed when foreigners judge of Ukraine only within the scope of CIS (post-Soviet) countries. The only little thing, that I maybe don't like a little, is the fact that you greet people in Russian. Just doesn't feel pleasing, because it's a sensitive topic of the language in Ukraine. As for the rest: it's brilliant and catchy! Like without any doubts!
Дякую вам Пітере за відео...Київ чудове місто !!!
17:18 man.. i just love how deep your thoughts description, keep it going.. it's the best part of your vlogs is to hear you up giving us a different meaning to cultures. 👍
Damn!, what a beautiful city! Great to see you back, looking forward to the upcoming content. Watching your videos is always a nice, relaxing treat/break, a smooth escape into adventure :-)
Absolutely fantastic love all your videos bruv.. Great.. Respect from Birmingham UK..

Kiev
Peter I moved here six weeks ago I keep finding it interesting how comparative our observations have been. Many of the positive things politically and socially you mention are 100% true. I love Ukraine.
Ти знову в Києві? Це буде цікаве відео)
Amazing content - thanks for sharing this with us ! Watching this all the way from the UK where the mood is definitely dampened by the pandemic, bad weather, health and safety obsession and bad politics. Ukraine sure does have its own challenges, but in comparison with risk-adverse Western Europe, Kiev in your video looks like a breath of fresh air and a bubble of freedom and infectious creativity. What a more inspiring take on life ! I'm loving it !
Thank you! Yes, you should definitely go when you can.
Yes so true but today it’s ruined. So so sad 😢
Ukrainians are amazing people. I went there once in 2010 and loved it. Very kind, friendly, and intelligent people.
Your videos are awesome. Thank you. I am Polish Canadian and I am so proud that my country helps Ukraine now. We had bad history with Ukraine before but it was then and now is now. Putin is crazy sick man. He can’t have what it was then. It’s now, it’s our choice not his who we want to be as a human being.
2:15 the snake being cut- metaphor- came true. so sad this looked like a beautiful place to live. but how eerie is this symbol painting?
Super cool Vid Peter, You did the Ukraine 🇺🇦 proud, Kyiv, yourself, loved the ride on the electric scooter, great way to tour, did you use the same one for the whole vid, how much did you pay for it?
Loved the small independent coffee bar & the library cafe etc. 👍
Looking forward to part 2.
Thanks for taking the time to shoot, edit and upload. Kyiv looks fabulous 👍
You can order them like on aliexpress.. There about 1000$ or so, prety nice in my opinion. Or just the motorized bike would be same thing.
It’s heartbreaking to watch this in 2023 knowing about the horrible things Russia has done to this city and country.
Great video Peter! Hopefully your videos help change people's view on this beautiful place. Absolutely one of my favorite cities to visit ❤
I love your video’s Peter. Even with the bad air Kyiv is a beautiful city!
Cheers for the heads up on the Netflix film ‘Winter on fire.’ Watched it last night.
Great to see u again, look forward to your next stream 😍🇬🇧
Your Ukraine videos are supreme, watch them over and over again. Thanks for doing this!
13.48 to 14.29 - I couldn't have worded that better myself, great video.
Went to champions league final in Kiev.
Liverpool v Madrid.
The result didn't go our way.
But Kiev was unbelievable.
Beautiful people and place.
Will never forget it. And will return one day with my family
Interesting insight of a city I know nothing about! Definitely interesting to watch
Theres no need for u to come here.this place is full of cute women.nothing for u
Another amazing video. And showing how fantastic Kyiv is. I sure am upset I didn’t get there this summer, due to Covid.
So lovely to see the blue skies 💙 n happy people in Ukraine ❤️👍🙏 n Gothic architecture Buildings n wide open places...here in Mumbai we can't even dream of..🙄
This is classical socialistic Soviet architecture. Almost the whole Maidan place in central Kiev is builded by Soviets. Churches are old Russkiy/Russian architecture...
I like your view/perspective of Ukraine and just life in general, such a positive attitude, keep it up, Peter
the velodrome/track was created a while back. In 2014 it was in complete disrepair but after Maidan, the citizens with their own hands repaired it.
15:24 thats хрущевка not stalinka! Stalinkas they have around Hreshatyk/Maidan.
I've seen them on the left side of Dnipro

Really great, Peter. Glad I caught this!
Ну що Петре, відверто тобі дякую! Що показуєш наше мальовниче місто! )) Haha I don't know if you have learned Ukrainian, but I am still wanted to give enormous thanks for showcasing our beautiful city to the world, and mainly to Americans. It might have some dangerous districts (which city doesn't) and our government is still pretty corrupt which lead to some poor management discions, nonetheless, our city is defined by its people and the people here are amazing! Which has always made this city really attractive no-matter the era. Щиро тобі дякую! Hope you see this comment))
Very good video. Look forward to part 2. Hope you continue to make lots more!
Peter, you changed my opinion about Ukraine and I really appreciate it
And I suggest you come to IRAN again and visit some other cities of IRAN..
Respect from IRAN
I missed your Kyiv videos! thanks for the interesting and fresh outlook from the outside, as always
LIttle rich, little middle-class, the majority is just getting by - that's sums it up pretty well.
Man prayers for Ukraine 🇺🇦
Thank you for showing the beauty of Ukraine. Too many people judge Ukraine by the Russian propaganda from the Kremlin. Ukraine is a beautiful country and the people are awesome. Yes, there are problems, but the beauty is there.
My grandmother and grandfather were both born not far from Kyiv! They came to America to avoid forced army service about in the year 1900. Interested in watching the entire video series. Thanks!!
2:00 did you just leave your 'scooter' thing unLocked while you went in that store ?
Haaa! So good to see that from here in south florida where i've had 27 bicycles stolen over many years here
Reminds me of my time in Moldova. The old and new. I also learned the building/construction culture is vastly different than western countries. If parts a, b, & c are paid for already, they get built. But, if parts x, y & z aren't then the don't and the building just sits.Nothing is built on credit. Is either already paid for or doesn't get done. I also loved the mixture of architecture. The Eastern Orthodox churches are awe inspiring. Then you have the old, Soviet, concrete buildings. Step 30 minutes outside the capital and it is run down warehouses and very, very rural. Yet, is one of the most beautiful places on earth with the best people. Thank you Peter for bringing a gem of Eastern Europe to the rest of us!
So glad your videos are back!
Hi Peter, I just recently found your channel. I was born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine. I moved to USA 25 years ago. I was very happy to see some of your videos around Kiev. Thank you. My husband is from the country Georgia. I visited this country 3 times already. The country is very beautiful. You should visit the Country Georgia.
the best city tour video i have ever seen.
Just Beautiful ❤️
Definitely a beautiful city from what you can see in this series. Beautiful!!
ive always loved your kyiv videos. makes really proud that you really understand the city as an american. its so underrated. i was young when i immigrated to the us from kyiv and your updates every year of kyiv takes me back home
Where is the part 2??? :))))) cant wait!!! My favorite city of all!!!
Aww, I got a peak of my beloved mother's homeland . She escaped in 1938 to America. She never spoke of her early years there. Thank you. But for the grace of God go I .
Kyiv and Lviv are awesome, I need to go back
It’s sad to see this episode because of the war in Ukraine, can’t imagine what Ukrainian are going through right now. I pray for Ukraine 🇺🇦.
I'm watching all these videos in the wrong order. I watched Alaska and now Ukraine. It's beautiful to see people walking around without any worries of invasion. I don't think many Ukrainians ever thought it would actually happen as threats had been made for so many years.
I didn't know of previous suffering in Soviet times.
Thanks for the tour, People I will never get to see and meet in person unfortunately. YOUR vlog from Iran was fantastic Saudi Arabia too .
That's brilliant thanks for uploading.
Awesome video mate 👏🏽 Love it ❤️
It must break your heart to see what it must be like today. So sad.
As always another great video ... Thanks peter ...
Peter, as for the ability to communicate in English on Kyiv streets, it's not only about the youth, there are actually quite a lot of middle aged people capable of it. For instance, I'm 37, and they have taught us English really well, starting back in the soviet times. I suppose, they were dead serious in their intention to dominate during highly anticipated Nuclear / World War 3.
Cool city,Peter have u thought about doing a house tour in Kyiv?
I should have visited this beautiful city in August, however Covid 19 ruined that plan 😕. I love these behind the scenes type videos more than solely tourist sight seeing types.
I live in Germany and see this from my home country. Thank you very much..you made my Lockdown 😊
Good job!
9:05 I believe these metal items are also to protect people from the ice falling in the winter from the roof.
It's so hard to imagine that this beautiful City is now a combat zone. I feel so sad for the Ukrainians.
Thanks for doing this man. Just stumbled upon your channel. I immigrated from Kiev when I was 10 years old and have only been back once (2009). Really driving my desire to visit again, when the pandemic is over. Sounds like most people on the street were still Russian speaking, which is somewhat surprising, but since that's what I spoke when I left, it's a nice surprise. Thanks again for putting this out.
Nice to meet you Mr. Peter
Thanks for so warm video about my native city!
hi all . Thank you Peter for yr videos. I live in Kyiv all my life but i am forced to admit that sometimes you show places which i can not find out from a first view )
Got your videos in my recommendations list here and there, finally decided to watch it - and I'm not disappointed at all!
Thanks for reaching out for all those who still not sure whether they want to visit Kyiv and Ukraine in general. There are lots of problems in Kyiv (other than crushing balconies, wrecked roads and chaotic constructions). Maybe I'd advise you explore some other districts, other than city's center, because each of them has its own history, remarkable distinctions and absolutely various "sweet spots". And when you add this all up in one - then you can have truly full feeling about Kyiv.
So many architecturally interesting buildings.
I'm impressed with how smooth the surfaces are that you're riding on.
Excellent video. Kviv is a unique trendy city with so much variety cheap so much to see including the weather I went in the first week in November it was freezing unreturned next year in the last week of October and got sunburnt
You are smart man .. you are the single vlogger who gives a smart view for his vlogs .. not just a stupid images .. but you add a deep eye to every images you look .. that's how I like human beings
And it undernderstable why you live in Kiev... It is because if beautiful women))) .. but also for the creativity and the experience of the free mind you can experience there...
Respect brother ..:)

I'm living in Kyiv now, good to see these new videos.
Cool, man, you're one of the few western bloggers who was able to decently portray the complicated identity of Ukraine. You mentioned corruption, poverty, broken buildings, but you also mentioned a nice modern culture, nice restaurants, modern buildings. You also mentioned the revolution of dignity and war against Russia. So it's a very challenging topic, but you did quite well, respect!
And when did it begin, sorry? Can you name the first battle between your army and Russian fiorces when Russian army invaded your territory?:)
@@olche4815 February 2014, Crimea, lookup so called "green men", even putin confirmed that they were there.
@@Jeff.Wilson no, Putin has never confirmed that there was war between Ucraine and Russia:)
@@Jeff.Wilson where ( the place) and when ( the date) the first battle between Ucranian army and Russian one take place?:) can you name them?:)
@@Jeff.Wilson and did this guy spoke about war between Ucraine and Russia? He said "war", but didn't mention the name of the opposite sides:)
23:50 - Maidan is such an Arabic / Indian / Malay word...it amazingly means the same thing.
Wow, that’s actually amazing
Ukrainian language has few similar words with Turkish language, maybe it’s having something to do with ottoman occupation.
I think its coming from Persian farsi
As I study languages, I find many unexpected words like this which are the same in another language from far away! I have found out that some of them come from Sanskrit roots, which we find in languages all around the world now.
I have been told the people are really nice and friendly, it looks a great city, one for the list, brilliant place to visit, the woman are stunning
Peter, awesome video mate. It GIves a good vibe of what is currently going on in Ukraine
Hey the falling rocks or concrete, happen in NYC too. Their is a loophole to fix old buildings in NYC and it's scaffolding, that's why you see it everywhere in NYC with no construction going on.
Cool lime scooter city tour. I liked it!
Glad to see you again, Peter! Hope you and your beloved ones are healthy and happy.
BTW, how do you like today's flight of US V-22 Ospreys over Kyiv? As for me, magnificient view! And B-52 Stratofortresses is also somewhere near, over the Black sea. :)
I still remember the days spent. at kyiv 😍
