In the original comic, it wasn't a professor that was kidnapped - it was Mark Hamill. Mark Hamill as the professor was a brilliant piece of stunt casting.
Btw while Sofia Boutella is fully able-bodied and just had "green socks" to make the work of visual artist easier, they used stunt doubles for her that were actually amputees using prosthetics and artist mapped her face on them. It was really well done.
Yeah their first choice was a disabled athlete, but they couldn't make the movie production schedule work with her training and the Olympics, if I remember correctly. I appreciate that they at least tried to get accurate representation in the first place.
Apparently, Oscar Pistorius was approached about the role at one point, but he turned it down to concentrate on his athletic career. This happened before his murder conviction of course.
The test with the dog is quite obvious actually: It's a test to see if they can follow orders without question. Which in a job as theirs, is of utmost importance.
You can lose anything, and it may be because of you. You need to know that you being a kingsman may mean losing everything, and be prepared to actively make that choice.
its a need-to-know sort of job, they might not have all the facts, which in this case they do not. they might be ordered to do something they think is the wrong call
The reason for the colorful explosions when the implants are set off is due to Samuel Jackson's character not being able to stomach seeing blood. This allows him to see it happen without throwing up.
@@drewjsnyder3 LOL. I forgot how prudish America is about sex and 'bad words' vs. violence and gore. You probably *could* have kept all the heads exploding in realistic gore and still kept the PG-13 rating if people hadn't used 'bad words' so much.
@@andrewrawlings5220 I have know idea what you're watching to think American entertainment is prudish. I could care lees about the rating of a movie. Keeping a movie PG-13 in the states is more about marketing and making money than being prudish. You lose about 40% of your possible ticket sales when you eliminate the 13 to 18 year old crowd with your R rated movie.
The kingsman clothing line was created for this movie and you can buy a lot of the outfits that the agents wear. It's kinda like the ultimate product placement.
@@ajivins1 yes you're right, I think it adds to the characters sense of arrogance in the books. Bond films have been used to promote British clothing brands for decades as well, with the brands paying handsomely for it.
George: "morality test". 🤔🤔 The whole purpose of getting the recruits to take care of and get attached to the dogs only to put them to the final test: can they kill someone when they need to regardless of their emotions? As a kingsman you pretty much need to be like James Bond. James Bond is a sociopath in every Bond movie, it's just hidden behind charm and action.
Very cool. The first time I saw this I was blown away how stylized, funny, and violent the whole package came together. This was a definite highlight of cinema that year.
Also, while I agree with no blood to get thru the rating stuff, the real reason was because Valentine was sickened by the sight of blood, hence the more colorful pops :)
Honestly I think it's an overeaction. It's only a movie. Obviously nothing actually bad would happen to the dogs IRL regardless of what's shown happenning in the movie.
This movie really worked cause they didn’t shy away from the silly at all, the self awareness made it! The sequel ‘the golden circle’ is still a really fun movie, it brings in the American Statesman….Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Jeff Bridges, Pedro Pascal
@@6666Imperator yeah it wasn’t done as well as the first, the silliness in the first one worked a lot better but I still found the second one a fun movie form start to finish
@@nicktechnubyte1184 But, most people -- like the two nice Canadians who were down for killing Christians with old fashioned, highly religious values -- don't really live by them. They may not be willing to do the violent deeds themselves, but they're down with it. Like way too many people are. Still, that's how good entertainment is supposed to make us feel/react. hahaha
@@the_crypter Exactly. That's exactly my point. The con is to make genuinely good people believe themselves too moral to talk back, fight back; pretty much guilt the good into meekness and submission. We Need to show people like this that (as my mother always told me) kindness doesn't equate to weakness. We agree
Taron Egerton (Eggsy) really is a fantastic actor. Everything I've seen him in, he's delivered, and he plays some pretty different characters. Including Elton John in his biopic (Which was SO much better than the Queen biopic). I really wish he'd get more roles
I think Simone and George would get a kick out of him as Eddie The Eagle too which was another very good performance (and as a bonus for them has a bit in Canada!)
@@Eidlones I'm curious what running of the Olympic games has the most films made that refer to it. Calgary (88?) has those two at least, but I think there might also be one or two about figure skating where it also gets highlighted
One thing about the church fight scene I've noticed reactors don't catch: after the explosion, when Harry's ears are ringing, he's recovering from the pulse. Once the ringing stops, he gets affected again.
@@TimedRevolver they state on the blue ray commentary that you don't need ears to be effected by the pulse. its a vibrational pulse that can be felt and effect you no matter what
@@TimedRevolver - Except that being confused would also be the reaction to being stunned. There's no particular horror in his expression after the explosion. So, decent theory, but nothing to give it the edge over the conventional explanation.
Hey Simone, Felix Baumgartner did a free-fall jump from the edge of space in 2012 just like you saw in the movie and was just fine. He set the world record for the highest jump at 128,000 feet. It's on UA-cam. You should have a look if you're interested in how it was done and what his experience was like. I think Red Bull sponsored the event. Also, this was arguably the best of the Kingsman movies. I actually liked the 2nd one as well. But the last one, The Kings Man, just flopped really badly for me. It didn't have the same feel as the first two and almost felt like someone else was trying too hard to make that kind of movie, but missed the target by a mile. Not sure what happened there, but those are my two cents.
George: "Okay, so they implanted something in his head that made his head explode..." Simone: "Yeah, if he started talking about stuff." Me: notices Simone's tshirt
@bitemark It wasn't a choice, or a dilemma. You can rationalize a dilemma (e.g. The "Sacrifice 1 to save 5" conundrum). In this case, they were told to kill an animal, which they raised and love, for no purpose. An arbitrary order to kill. To see if they will obey. There's no lesson, no purpose to it other than blind compliance.
There's an additional twist to it. He doesn't fail when he turns the gun on Arthur, which would be the case if it were just an issue of obedience. He fails when he doesn't pull the trigger on either.
33:00 Simone asked about jumping from that height and your body quitting. Ever heard of Felix Baumgartner and his stratospheric jump? He was the fastest unassisted human being ever (as in he only used gravity to accelerate him). He jumped from the height of 39 kilometers and attained a final top speed of Mach 1.25. In a special jump suit with air support. So within the already ridiculous premises of this movie that jump was actually the most scientifically valid one. 😁😁
Felix was following in the footsteps of Colonel Joe Kittinger, who jumped from 31km way back in 1960 - and did it one handed, because he was too stubborn to report his pressure suit had failed on one hand and his hand had swelled up to twice it's normal size. He didn't want them to abort the mission.
@@Hal2718 If you fall from high enough, there isn't enough atmosphere to slow you down so terminal velocity becomes much, much higher. (for example, the ISS technically 'falls' around the Earth at Mach 22.)
@@Hal2718 Terminal velocity is reached at basically any altitude below 4 km height after roughly 7 seconds. Correct. That applies to pressure buildup underneath the falling body, compressing the existing atmosphere which makes further acceleration impossible. But the higher the altitude the lower the atmospheric pressure, thus the increase of the actual speed. I should have stated the actual speed instead of using Mach numbers as Mach usually pertains to trans-sonic speeds. Achieving trans-sonic speeds with a human shaped body without assistance is not possible (AND survive, at least 😂). As such my description of Mach 1.25 was scientifically speaking not correct, but when translated to ground speed, yes, it would have been accurate.

I don't think I'd call them "intelligent and insightful". I find this channel entertaining but most of their post movie discussions pretty much boil down to "That was cool/interesting. Here's out patreon."
The point of the dog test is if ur closest friend turns traitor would u be able to shoot them, also a person has literally done a base jump from the border of space for red bull, ur statement about the jump makes no sense

After this are a sequel titled Kingsmen: The Golden Circle and a prequel titled The King's Men. For similarly styled movies, I recommend watching Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Funny bit about Mark Hamill in the film: In the comic the film was based on, they remark that the character of the scientist 'Looks surprisingly like Mark Hamill'. So... they got him to play the character in the movie.
When I saw the trailer for this movie I thought it would be really bad. Boy was I wrong. I absolutely love this movie and everything about it. The church scene is an all timer.
I loved this movie for being excactly what all the other "modern" spy movies failed to deliver. This is more classic Bond than any out of the 007 franchise of the last two decades managed to be. So good to see you enjoy it, grats to your choice, even the least well done Kingsman flic is still superior entertainment compared to the competition these days. Looking forward to your reactions to the follow-ups.
Eh, it had good ideas, just a poor delivery. The villain was not nearly as good, the evil plot was pretty stupid, and there are some unnecessary characters shoved in at the expense of established ones. For me it feels overall pretty disjointed and disconnected from the first movie, despite trying hard to force connections.
1, The "Dog test" was apparently a NKVD training protocol (although it’s hard to be sure if it really happened due most of the records disappearing when the NKVD became the NKGB), to show they would when ordered kill even something they had learnt to love: Because there is *nothing* that Stalin can't make just a little bit worse. It appears a lot in fiction, including the Unsullied in the 'Song of Ice and Fire' books, and it’s rumoured that some Russian and Latin American special forces used it in the 90’s, but that’s probably untrue. 2, That private metro exits: it’s the old UK Royal Mail rail-system, with their own mini-trains under London separate from the underground, built to avoid traffic. It’s now mostly dis-used. 3, Apparently it got to the point that Colin Firth had rehersed that Church fight-scene so often, he could have done it live if needed, so long as no one actually slammed him into a wall.
One of the things I didn't notice until my second watch was that Eggsy was the only one to comment on the champagne tasting weird in the second to last test. Meaning he was the only one to notice the drug while the other two were too focused on the objective.
And they just wrote off the weird taste as being cheap champagne, once again underlining that they're rich snobs and, to Galahad's point earlier in the movie, rich snobs have become too disconnected from the real world to make the best agents anymore.
Sofia Boutella is well suited with her street dancer flexibility to play such roles. Her best bad ass role in my opinion is in Hotel Artemis. Great cast....
Fun Fact: For simoan (sry about spelling) who asked if the prosthetics were real, they originally hired someone withouth feet who was also gold medalist from the special olympics to play the role. However, production delays forced an overlap with the special olympics and they were forced to recast.
Kick-Ass might be my favourite superhero film. A lot of the bigger ones just devolve in to SFX fireworks shows for me, they don't get the human level. In skilled hands, a shot of something utterly mundane can be even more powerful than something that 300 sfx people work on.
I agree. Viewers will have their favorite of the two -- most choosing the first movie -- but the sequel has the same tone and pacing of the Secret Service and expands on that film's universe. I'm someone who can't decide which I enjoy better although if I'm about to eat a hamburger, I'll opt to watch the first movie..
33:00 At the altitude she jumped from normally you would pass out due to lack of oxygen, but she is set up for a HALO jump so she has O2. Like George says you would reach terminal velocity (about 160 mph) and remain conscious all the way to the inevitable sudden stop and bounce to Valhalla.
That and people have jumped from "space", such as Alan Eustace back in 2014 who started his fall from 135,889.108 feet up. It's amazingly dangerous and you break the sound barrier with your body before air resistance slows you down a little. The entire freefall lasts aprox. 4.5 minutes or so.
@@worsel555 AFAIK, only three people have jumped from over 100K ft. Eustace in 2014, Baumgartner in 2012 (128K ft), and Kittinger in 1960 (102K ft). Of the three, only Kittinger had a bona fide reason for doing it. He was an Air Force Captain testing high altitude bailouts for the upcoming generation of military aircraft like the SR-71.
At that altitude terminal velocity is somewhat higher. Terminal velocity also depends on how you position yourself in the air. In the lower atmosphere it goes from around 200 kmh/120 mph when "floating" horizontally, to around 320 kmh/200 mph when diving vertically with your arms at your side. She fell from a height that is probably comparable to Felix Baumgartner's record jump in 2012, and he reached a velocity of about 1358 kmh/840 mph. Essentially, you would accelerate up to a point, and then slowly decelerate as you descended further into denser air.
The movies are all great so would recommend. The King's Man (the prequel) is my personal favourite- it's really zany and silly, but surprisingly hits the feels too. It's about the founder of Kingsman and the villain is Rasputin, who is outrageously portrayed! The trailer doesn't give much away but will give you a good impression.
Simone, there's a thing called 'terminal velocity'. It means that no matter the hieght you fall from, your body will accelerate only up to a certain point, then maintains that speed of descent until 'landing'/impact. i forget what the actual speed is, but I think it's around 220 miles per hour or 352 kph. Fast enough to cause problems at the destination, but not fast enough to cause tissue trauma on its own.
What was Felix Baumgartner's top speed? Baumgartner endured an agonizing 10-minute wait - more time than when he was actually in the air - before he received confirmation that he hit a top speed of 844mph, over 75mph faster than the speed of sound. It's reported They caught the sound of the"boom" on his suit mike. The air is so thin up there it doesn't slow you down like it does at lower elevations.
One marvels at George's deep wisdom at 24:05: "Everything is something." Simone at your most convincingly innocent at 9:46; and your righteous indignation at the dogs! A great reaction to a fun movie I can't rewatch because of the gore ugh. Colin Firth's sudden death had me shook, too.
Yeah, I was disappointed that they killed off Colin Firth. He brought class and style to the movie. Him not being in the sequel is most likley a major reason why the sequel wasn't particularly good.
The Golden Circle is definitely worth watching. I like it just as much as the first Kingsman movie. I didn't like The King's Man as much as the first two, but it is still worth watching.
Strongly disagree. The Golden Circle is kinda terrible. Some decent action scenes, but a terrible lack of story. The King's Man was decent in my opinion. Not fantastic, but competent.
32:55 you guys should look up "Felix Baumgartner free fall", he did a for-real freefall from a modified weather balloon at extreme altitude (128K feet, in the stratosphere), wearing what basically looked like a space suit. During the freefall when the air was really thin at altitude his top speed of over 1,350kph/840mph - which was supersonic. It was impressive to watch it streamed & on TV live.
Translating the Swedish where the Princess gets taken (the dinner at Valentine’s): “This is completely insane. You will regret this.” That’s not the whole section that is in the full movie, but it is what can be heard in this video 🙂🇸🇪 Great reaction, I’m looking forward to the next two parts. Personally, the brand new part three “The King’s Man” is my favourite. But this one wins on sheer hilarity 😂😅 As always, thanks for sharing your awesome with us /Lizz
Terminal Velocity for a human is about 120 mph/200 km/h to 300 mph/480 km/h depending on how your are positioned and what you are wearing. All survivable speeds assuming you have a parachute. Falling speed does not kill unless you hit something like the ground or a bird or something.
"Free falling from that height" - after a certain height, free-falling doesn't add any velocity. There reaches a point where the wind resistance from the speed you are falling cancels out acceleration due to gravity. It's called "terminal velocity" - not because you'll go splat, but because that's as fast as you can go.
The tube system that you called "their private subway system" is a tube where all was removed from the tube system. This way the pod doesnt have any drag from air resistance and could easily go faster than the speed of sound. And why the trip to the Kingsman estate didnt take that long
Really love your EGGScellent reactions together! 9:29 Simone wanting the umbrella - as apparently she gets shot at a lot! 11:22 George's leaps of imagination - "What if it turns out all tailors can fight ... just part of the thing, working with looms makes you super strong apparently". George saying that now means it's imperative you react to the 2008 movie "Wanted" directed by Timur Bekmambetov, starring Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy & Morgan Freeman! 13:16 Totally agree George - only horrible entitled people look down on, or disparage, service/other essential workers. 16:20 Simone's love for animals is adorable 😍 -16:28 Squeeee! and later sheer indignance about the dogs. I could go on, but basically it's always such fun watching along with you both!
Any else try to hold their breath during underwater scenes or is just me? Also the highest skydive was from over 135000 feet/41 kilometers/25 miles high (the edge of space is 330k feet) and the skydiver went over 800 mph. It's insane. Finally the first Kingsman was by far the best imo.
When the tv audiences were watching it live, over a third of them switched off when the guy's parachutes safely deployed.... They were wanting to see if he would lawn dart himself into the ground.
30:31 Yeah it is. When they pull up the file on him it says Gary Unwin and talks about how he was in gymnastics (hence the parkour) and that he was a Royal Marine
"The free fall issue" As mentioned before, Felix Baumgatner managed to jump almost from 40km in a free fall without much issues. As for the original idea, when a body would "quit" (in the sense of "pass out"), that comes down to two important elements: fear and equipment. In general, we human beings don't like very risky situations; if we are not used to the exprience our just "shuts down"; that doesn't have a set time to happen; the moment the person goes beyond its personal limit, the body says "bye" (that's why trained skydivers or people more tolerant to stress saty awake in free falls). The equipment bit is because above 10,000 ft. the body needs more oxygen to work properly; above that height it doesn't matter if you are tolerant to stress or trained; you'll pass out after some seconds (due to low oxygen levels in your blodd, not fear) and you will have some brain damage after a couple of minutes. "The dog test" The film makes several points that are not easy to swallow (along with the "seducing scene"). The truth is that while we all live in a cvilized society that rejects some behaviors (like shooting a dog), in the battlefield we would expect agents that don't have such moral imperatives (we want people capable of doing things a "civilized person" wouldn't dare... so we can later judge them). We can argue that the test is outdated (as Harry mentions, times have changed and the spy game has changed too) and we have other ways to test compromise to duty rather than shooting an animal... but yeah, the field won't be always as clean cut as that. "The sequels/prequels" Though choice XD. Kingsman is generally rated as "great", so it was just natural any sequel had a very high standard to beat. While the original team has indicated they imagined the story as a trilogy; it should be noted that the comic Kingsman is based on only has one chapter and the film and the source material only share key plot elements (meaning that, for any extra film project there is very little source material to get inspiration from). Kingsman The Golden Circle kind of completes the story of Eggsy (you may judge if it lives up to the first film, or if both films should even be compared). And that would be it. See you in the next one.
I love the detail of the gernade explosion during the church massacre when Harry can't hear the music and he returns to normal and realizes the horror of what's happening before hearing the music again and going back to killing.
I used to work in a store and I've encountered customers that get a kick out of mocking retail staff, the trick is to know where the store cameras are and to ensure that no one else is within range when you calmly verbally abuse them back whilst maintaining the illusion of utmost professionalism.
Actually terminal velocity is based on air density, so from 120,000+ feet you end up breaking the sound barrier and slow down as you get into denser air. And no it is sudden acceleration that is hard on the body, not velocity in near vacuum. In denser air yes velocity sucks, but terminal velocity is bearable, especially in a pressure suit like Roxy wears.
About freefall. Skydivers have jumped out of helium balloons from massive heights since the sixties. The most famous recent example was Felix Baumgartner who in 2012 jumped from 39 km (24mi) and hit speeds over Mach 1 (1350 kph / 840 mph) on his way down. The only real issue with forces on his body was due to an an uncontrolled spin. There wasn’t enough air resistance at the higher altitudes to control himself. He regained control at lower altitudes.
The second film gets even sillier (and even better). And the third one is slightly more serious but *really* good with some phenomenal fight scenes - one in particular really gives some meaning to the phrase “fight choreography”. Oh, and Taron Egerton is really good in Rocketman, the Elton John biopic.
The theme I love the most is Eggsy’s loyalty He takes the heat for his friends after stealing whatshisname’s car He urges Harry to leave the pub, not wanting to put him in danger, and prepares to take his licks like a man He doesn’t tell Dean (his step dad) who Harry is, despite Dean threatening to kill him He encourages Roxy to skydive, then calms everyone down when they start to panic. Eggsy doesn’t like everyone there, but they’re still his teammates and he doesn’t want anyone to die He doesn’t blab about Kingsman when he thinks he’s about to die He refuses to shoot JB (his dog) He picks Harry’s umbrella as his main weapon, then emulates Harry’s mannerisms at the end of the movie, bringing things full circle Like Harry said, Eggsy’s a loyal young man with loads of potential. Love this movie!
Golden Circle is fun. Not as good as the first. But "not as good" does not mean bad (except on the internet). I think it gets some hate due to the appearance of one particular character. The third is better than the second, but the first is still better. Seeing you react to Firefly might be worth joining your Patreon. However, are these presented in the same format as your UA-cam videos or are they full length watch-alongs where I have to provide my own copy? Because the latter is too much of pain to deal with. I prefer the UA-cam format.
I do not know what this "one character" you are talking about but it's a bad movie because it's boring, it doesn't do anything new that the first one already did and they killed everyone like that Kingmans girl for no reason. It's not good.
Since you love parkour and your already done some foreign films I must recommend District B13 (2004). It’s a French buddy action movie and one of the two leads helped to invent Parkour and has one of the best chase scenes of all time
I like all three Kingsman movies. They're just bonkers in the best ways. That being said, the prequel is definitely my new favorite out of the lot. Insanier insanity and feelsier feels.
The first Kingsman is still my favorite but I love all of them. I actually don't really understand how someone could love the first one and then say that the others are terrible since they're so alike in style and execution. It's not like they're radically different from each other.
Jezelle is played by Sophia Bouttella who also played Princess Ahmonett and in full mummy makeup in The Mummy,Jayla the alien girl (in full makeup with stunts and fight scenes)in Star Trek Beyond, she's a dancer, gymnast, actress and stuntwoman and has done all of the stunts and moves in these movies. In this movie she had to train to use artificial legs designed for sprinting for amputee athletes. They are basically a large spring and were modified and CG'd with the blades. In The Mummy she also did the creepy crawl on all 4's that you probably remember, not hard for her due to her athletic and dance background.
33:00...Hi Simone, an Austrian named Felix Baumgartner (or something similar) did an actual real life parachute jump from the edge of space a few years ago. He fell approximately 24 miles and reached a top speed of approx 843 mph. At no point during the period of freefall did his body quit or give up. I think there's probably a video of him on UA-cam 😉😊
I always forget that the dog test uses blanks. For some reason, I always remember those who pass as shooting the dog for a minor wound. After all, shooting and killing can be two different things when done right.
A good little touch in the film: during the Church fight at 29:34, the explosion temporarily deafens Galahad (the high pitched tone we hear) and thus he starts to come to his senses, you can see it on his face. Then his hearing returns and Valentine's sound sets him off again.
Provided they wear a pressure suit to allow breathing, a person can absolutely survive reentry into the atmosphere. Look up the video for Felix Bumgartner's nearly 25 mile freefall jump. A human body can't build up anywhere even close to the velocity needed to cause reentry burn and reaches terminal velocity (the point where a falling object reaches its maximum drop speed) very quickly. Felix's jump took him nearly ten minutes and the only time he was in any real danger was when his body entered a flat spin shortly before he was to open his parachute.
13:50 Funny you should say that. In filming the set descended much faster into the water then intended, thus filling the room much faster then planned. The actors' initial reactions are genuine as it was unexpected.
Body couldn't sustain the fall? Falling is the same as floating. You feel no acceleration and there's no stress on your body at all, just wind pressure. This is actually partly what Einstein proved with his special theory of relativity in 1905.
So many twists and turns are what makes this movie a sit on the edge of your seat film. The free-fall that 'Lancelot' did is what is called a HALO jump. High Altitude Low Open jump. They have to use pressurized suits with their own air supply.
The dog test was about whether your emotions would get in the way when making a tough call or following orders. I actually like the Golden Circle more than the King's Man. It's more over the top than this film, but it's still really fun.
@@nicktechnubyte1184 not really. Morality and emotions are not always interconnected. You can see something as right or wrong without being "emotional" about it. Not going to spoil Golden Circle in case they watch it, but even that film reiterates the importance of the mission coming first and "no room for emotions."
Speaking of British secret agents, weaponized umbrellas, and theatrically villainous plots to control the world, the brisk, campy, and unfairly maligned The Avengers (1998) deserves a reaction. An all-star cast.
I'm pretty sure that whole breathing through a toilet wouldn't work. If the room is full of water then water would be constantly flowing in to the toilet displacing the air that would be in the pipe. Not that I'd ever want to test it but it doesn't seem like it would work.
The shop where Samuel L Jackson got his top hat is a real shop. Just round the corner from The Ritz Hotel. My dad used to be the manager there, worked there one Sunday when they were short staffed and my first customer was the West End star Elaine Paige. Their customer list is mental, even sold Harrison Ford his Indiana Jones hat.
Have u not seen the Red Bull free fall from edge of space World Record! Terminal velocity about 600mph I think! And he goes into a spin which is worse as at risk of going unconscious and unable to pull chute.Awesome human achievement! 😳😳😳
Choreography by the late Brad Allan. He was the first westerner to be part of Jackie Chan’s Stunt team, eventually becoming Team Leader before going off independently doing action design and stun coordination in Hollywood/UK… ‘Kingsman’ we’re among those projects
The kings man is pretty good I found it quite emotional and it even has ralph fiennes who played voldemort in Harry Potter films. And the sequel is pretty decent and is extremely hilarious and has Elton John in it
just curious if anyone has done the maths.. if every time you lose an agent, you need to have 10'ish recruits to choose and train up.. how long before the population is nothing but failed recruits that are pissed at not passing the tests and are essentially potential enemies who know your secrets, security setup, locations and are trained killers you trained or are unsuitable for selection in the first place
Some very clever edits and choreography in the church to make the shots look like much longer single shots. Extremely well done. One of my personal favorite fight scenes ever. I'm very happy you guys did this one!
Re 'Shoot the Dog' Simone you should either watch or NEVER watch 'Old Yeller'. I am of two minds about it. It's a Disney Classic and for kids in the 60's and 70's a shared experience (every kid watched Disney films then, it was all there was). So much so that Stripes (80's) used it with no reference given assuming all the characters (and the audience) would get it and the animated DCAU too. Sometimes as bad as the choice is, there is no other choice...
In 2014, 57 year old Alan Eustace made a freefall jump, from a gas balloon. The height was 135,889 feet. Due to the fact that there is no air at that altitude, to slow his decent, his top speed of fall was 822 MPH, the speed of sound is 767 MPH. He landed safely.
This is one hell of a spy action comedy film I've ever seen! They released Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle in 2017 and the Prequel The King's Man in 2021, there will be a third and final Kingsman movie due out in 2024
Both the sequel and the prequel are well worth a watch, both have their faults but also have their strengths. King's man is a lot more unique but still a very enjoyable film.
Just a clarification- I am a tailor & I can't fight for shiz. Working a sewing machine doesn't come with any combat training sadly. Or maybe I was off sick that day?
Apparently, she insisted on wearing stilettos for her non-action scenes to better capture the feeling of walking on knife points.
Apparently, Oscar Pistorius was approached about the role at one point, but he turned it down to concentrate on his athletic career. This happened before his murder conviction of course.
So cool about them getting actual amputees to do the stunt work.
The test with the dog is quite obvious actually: It's a test to see if they can follow orders without question. Which in a job as theirs, is of utmost importance.

I think one of the big problems with the King's Man movie is it was much more serious in tone without the humour of the other two films.

Not necessarily obedience, but also this job will require you to make some really hard choices that most people can't/won't want to do.

I say watch them all. I enjoyed the sequel and the prequel.
Um...the sequel....just no
4:18 But then it said "17 years later". So, it showed when Lancelot became a Kingsman and then years later (modern day) when he died.
The sequel is still not bad. I recommend it. It's just as good in my opinion.
DON’T WATCH PREVIEWS!
One is a prequel
I remember reading an article about how a special forces unit in South America had the "dog test" as part of their training as well.
Simone trying to work out logic in a movie scene and George saying "it doesn't matter"? Am I in bizarro world?
Samuel Jackson with a lisp and also being the villain at the same time is just golden.
Fun Fact: For simoan (sry about spelling) who asked if the prosthetics were real, they originally hired someone withouth feet who was also gold medalist from the special olympics to play the role. However, production delays forced an overlap with the special olympics and they were forced to recast.
This writing-directing team’s best film is easily *Stardust* . Number two is *Kick-Ass* . Both highly recommended, especially *Stardust* .
When you consider that it has Charlie Cox (the Daredevil ) and in Minor roles it has Henry Cavill and Robert De Niro... Just such great fairy tail.
Kick-Ass might be my favourite superhero film. A lot of the bigger ones just devolve in to SFX fireworks shows for me, they don't get the human level. In skilled hands, a shot of something utterly mundane can be even more powerful than something that 300 sfx people work on.
My new hero... "Anyone who can work in customer service is a better man than I am!" So many people could use a lesson in that! Cheers from the Uk
The golden circle is just as much fun as this film and worth watching.
I agree the golden circle is fun, and worth watching for Elton John alone.

Fast enough to cause problems at the destination, but not fast enough to cause tissue trauma on its own.
nope no faster than 180 mph
@@houseofaction Oh, was I getting 220 from converting that to kilometers?
What was Felix Baumgartner's top speed?
Baumgartner endured an agonizing 10-minute wait - more time than when he was actually in the air - before he received confirmation that he hit a top speed of 844mph, over 75mph faster than the speed of sound. It's reported They caught the sound of the"boom" on his suit mike. The air is so thin up there it doesn't slow you down like it does at lower elevations.
One marvels at George's deep wisdom at 24:05: "Everything is something."
Simone at your most convincingly innocent at 9:46; and your righteous indignation at the dogs!
I liked "The King's Man" more.

Terminal Velocity for a human is about 120 mph/200 km/h to 300 mph/480 km/h depending on how your are positioned and what you are wearing. All survivable speeds assuming you have a parachute. Falling speed does not kill unless you hit something like the ground or a bird or something.
If you guys liked the fight choreo in this movie you should check out The Old Guard, they have the same fight team. Plus the movie is just cool.
The second one might not be as good as the first, but it's still a very enjoyable movie and worth a watch
the only complaint I have about the second film is that eggsy is dating the princess instead of the female agent
"Free falling from that height" - after a certain height, free-falling doesn't add any velocity. There reaches a point where the wind resistance from the speed you are falling cancels out acceleration due to gravity. It's called "terminal velocity" - not because you'll go splat, but because that's as fast as you can go.
LOVE this series. I hope Vaughn makes these forever
I personally really enjoyed the sequel
The way Simone's face dropped when Arthur told Eggsy to shoot the dog...🤣
The tube system that you called "their private subway system" is a tube where all was removed from the tube system. This way the pod doesnt have any drag from air resistance and could easily go faster than the speed of sound.
And why the trip to the Kingsman estate didnt take that long

9:29 Simone wanting the umbrella - as apparently she gets shot at a lot!
11:22 George's leaps of imagination - "What if it turns out all tailors can fight ... just part of the thing, working with looms makes you super strong apparently".

13:16 Totally agree George - only horrible entitled people look down on, or disparage, service/other essential workers.

The point of the test is to make sure that they blindly follow orders, no matter what. Its a relatively common tests, not just in movies...
30:31 Yeah it is. When they pull up the file on him it says Gary Unwin and talks about how he was in gymnastics (hence the parkour) and that he was a Royal Marine
The church fight is imo one of the best choreographed fight scenes I've ever seen
"The free fall issue"
As mentioned before, Felix Baumgatner managed to jump almost from 40km in a free fall without much issues.
"The dog test"
The film makes several points that are not easy to swallow (along with the "seducing scene").
"The sequels/prequels"
Though choice XD.
The dog test was to follow an order even when everything in your being tells you not to. A kind of leave your emotions at the door test.
Simone and her exquisite taste in bands and band t-shirts... It just keeps getting better. What a legend.
Simone is so funny one moment "If they shoot the dog I am out", later " Shoot the Bitch".
There are 2 more movies after this both are pretty good.

The second film gets even sillier (and even better). And the third one is slightly more serious but *really* good with some phenomenal fight scenes - one in particular really gives some meaning to the phrase “fight choreography”.
Oh, and Taron Egerton is really good in Rocketman, the Elton John biopic.
The whole theatre groaned at the A line from the princess... It was awesome
The theme I love the most is Eggsy’s loyalty
He takes the heat for his friends after stealing whatshisname’s car
He urges Harry to leave the pub, not wanting to put him in danger, and prepares to take his licks like a man
He doesn’t tell Dean (his step dad) who Harry is, despite Dean threatening to kill him
He encourages Roxy to skydive, then calms everyone down when they start to panic. Eggsy doesn’t like everyone there, but they’re still his teammates and he doesn’t want anyone to die
He doesn’t blab about Kingsman when he thinks he’s about to die
He refuses to shoot JB (his dog)
He picks Harry’s umbrella as his main weapon, then emulates Harry’s mannerisms at the end of the movie, bringing things full circle
Like Harry said, Eggsy’s a loyal young man with loads of potential. Love this movie!
Golden Circle is fun. Not as good as the first. But "not as good" does not mean bad (except on the internet). I think it gets some hate due to the appearance of one particular character. The third is better than the second, but the first is still better.

I do not know what this "one character" you are talking about but it's a bad movie because it's boring, it doesn't do anything new that the first one already did and they killed everyone like that Kingmans girl for no reason. It's not good.

Both sequels are fun, but The King's Man is a phenomenal movie in itself.
I am waiting for the third part!
@@ineedpowers5151 theres already a third part bruv
Provided they wear a pressure suit to allow breathing, a person can absolutely survive reentry into the atmosphere. Look up the video for Felix Bumgartner's nearly 25 mile freefall jump. A human body can't build up anywhere even close to the velocity needed to cause reentry burn and reaches terminal velocity (the point where a falling object reaches its maximum drop speed) very quickly. Felix's jump took him nearly ten minutes and the only time he was in any real danger was when his body entered a flat spin shortly before he was to open his parachute.
Fun fact, the room filled water too fast and they improvised it to the movie I believe - the shock is genuine from the actors.
It's more over the top than this film, but it's still really fun.
except emotions are what makes eggsy a great agent
And lack of emotions are what led to Arthur's betraying the kingsman and getting killed
Its crazy that they still havent reacted to the 2nd movie which i think was just as amazing as this.
I think the shoot-the-dog test is about the ability to do the terrible thing to prevent the even worst thing.
Btw, when Arthur dies, his accent changes to a very common accent, indicating that he himself came from a working class background.
Eggsy is Taron Egerton. He also played Elton John in “Rocketman”. He’s got a big future ahead of him
Choreography by the late Brad Allan.
From this to Elton John in Rocket Man. Amazing range as an actor.
This is one hell of a spy action comedy film I've ever seen!
They released Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle in 2017 and the Prequel The King's Man in 2021, there will be a third and final Kingsman movie due out in 2024
That’s 4 movies
Both the sequel and the prequel are well worth a watch, both have their faults but also have their strengths. King's man is a lot more unique but still a very enjoyable film.
Just a clarification- I am a tailor & I can't fight for shiz. Working a sewing machine doesn't come with any combat training sadly. Or maybe I was off sick that day?
at 11:32 George basically predicted "Wanted" (2008) with James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and Chris Pratt
