    I am 70 years old and have loved playing electric guitar for many decades… I have seen All three of my guitar heroes multiple times ( Terry Kath, Eric Clapton and Roy Buchanan) live. I have been following very closely your UA-cam Channel for several years… over time I have come to the conclusion that you are as gifted as any of my “famous” guitar heroes. You should not concern yourself with what any of the “Toms” of this world have to say… Use your God given virtuosity to be the “Brilliant Original Guitarist” that he meant you to be Paul Stafford Cook!

    Nothing against Uncle Larry-he’s brilliant and inspiring. But I enjoy your playing just as much if not more. It’s always musical, interesting, impeccably smooth and creative. No ego at all, just music.

      With all due respect to Paul, comparing 'Uncle Larry' to Paul, is unfair to Paul. Tom Bukovac has played on over 1200 albums, including projects by Dan Auerbach and The Black Keys, Kid Rock, Morgan Wallen, Ann Wilson, The Struts, Steven Tyler, Stevie Nicks, Bob Seger, John Oates, Joan Osborne, Vince Gill, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Hank Williams Jr., Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, Carrie Underwood, Richard ...

      @@rudivorster4442 of course Tom deserves all the respect in the world and objectively is more accomplished as you have correctly pointed out. I’m just giving my honest opinion that I enjoy Paul’s playing just as much.

    Paul, I look forward to every episode of your guitar magic , wisdom, and wit. For a long time it has been clear the influence of the great Tele slinger, Roy B. in your repetoire. You have become so relaxed and facile with his melodies, flavor, and feel yet I appreciate your personal embellishments that make them your own. I think he would as well. Well done sir.

    Well I've been back and listened again and listened again and ........yes listened again, I find by listening through my BMW Super Sound System (1970's) and not watching the vid the concentration is completely on the music only and my God Mr. Cook you bastard I began to well up and the inevitable happened .....yes I cried real tears.
    My true passion outside my beautiful family is music and I have been told I have an exceptional ear (which is just as well cause my nose ain't that flash lol) and sometimes I think I'm blessed enough to hear sonic nuances that a lot of people don't hear and that my friend is a fantastic gift to have.
    Once again thanks man.

      @@paulstaffordcook8799 Thank You very much, Paul, for Your reply. I am rather adult boy (50+) and several years ago decided to start learning guitar with the purpose to achieve skill level not worse than Brian May and Ritchie Blackmore got together (and preferably better than these guys). I do not have any musical education and use up till now only Internet. After several years of guitar selfeducation I came to the following conclusions:
      1) I will NEVER achieve "He CAN play the guitar" skill level in full sense of this phrase. BUT! I'm able to improve my skill level step by step - all I need are strong desire, strong patience and especially knowledge of MUSIC THEORY (it helps very much, cause major third and Lydian Dominant use all the "greats" and God is for EVERYBODY);
      2) My personal opinion for now is that overwhealming majority of those guys who present themselves as web guitar instructors are divided into three large categories: 1) good playes but "zero" teachers; 2) good teachers and average players; 3) "zero" teachers and "zero" players (mice are making love in their hands) - 95% of their vids is "bla-bla-bla" intro and 5% - "shitcontent" (sorry for my French);
      3) So, the overwhealming minority which deserve my respective attention are "soul" teachers and players who are in love with THE guitar. You, Paul, is one of them. In this connection many of my guitar achievements are "What I've learned from Paul Stafford Cook".

    I also don't have huge hands. I've considered flipping and reorganizing the control plate (would require a wee bit of re-wiring) to get the vol and tone controls closer to hand for swells. Anyway, nice job. I was fortunate to have seen Roy B live at a blues festival in the 1980s - wonderful player. I note you didn't play slide with a beer bottle - one of Roy's live tricks, which he may have borrowed from Danny G or perhaps Danny borrowed it from Roy.

      You already know the first rule of being a musician, just know your abilities and be confident where you are. When you come across new sounds and skills, add them as you go along.
      The worst thing wr can do is compare ourselves to others because they have just as many insecurities, but perhaps they hide they a bit better.
      I learned very young that there will always be people who are bigger, stronger, faster, and more skilled than I am. All I can do is be me. If I want to be better at something then I need to seek out the mean to accomplish that.😉
      Of course there is always room for improvement, but be comfortable with where you are and chase what you want to improve and steal it by all means!😂🤣🤙

    Hi Roy, Love your style of playing. I would like to ask you your opinion of Superalloy IN 109 strings (Thomastik Infeld 009 -042) on a Telecaster?

      Hmm…. I do have lots of experience with Thomastik Infeld strings….. however never with gauge 9….. I have 10s on my Gretsch, and 11s on a couple of Gibsons (both from Thomastik). I love them. I did try the Thomastik (11s) on a Tele, and I loved it!

    Thank You very much, Paul, for Your reply. I am rather adult boy (50+) and several years ago decided to start learning guitar with the purpose to achieve skill level not worse than Brian May and/or Ritchie Blackmore (and preferably better than these guys got together). I do not have any musical education and use up till now only various Internet resources. After several years of guitar selfeducation I came to the following conclusions:
    1) I will NEVER achieve "He CAN play the guitar" skill level in full meaning of this phrase. BUT! I'm able to improve my skill level step by step - all I need are genuine desire, strong patience and especially knowledge of MUSIC THEORY (it helps very much, cause Major Third, Diminished Seventh Arpeggio and Lydian Dominant are used by all the "greats" - so, God is for EVERYBODY);
    2) My personal opinion for now is that overwhealming majority of those guys who present themselves as web guitar instructors are divided into three large categories: 1) good or even exellent playes but "zero" teachers; 2) good teachers and average players; 3) "zero" teachers and "mice are making love in their hands" level players - 95% of their vids are "bla-bla-bla" intro and 5% - "shitcontent" (sorry for my French);
    3) So, the rest overwhealming minority which deserve my respective attention are "soul" teachers and players who are in love with THE guitar. You, Paul, is one of them and many of my guitar achievements are "What I've learned from Paul Stafford Cook".
    Thank You very much for what You are doing. I wish You and Yours good health and good luck and also wish You 249 K of subscribers in, say, a year.
    Sorry for my reply in the style of "His 4-hours report he started with the words: "Ladies and gentlemen! I will be extremely brief!"
    Cheers,
    Lower Advanced Intermediate Beginner level guitar player

    I don't personally live and die on the advice of Mr. Tom. He knows he is not the best guitar player who ever lived, but he is quick to tell you he is better than you and while that may be true, it's not very kind. His ego may be warranted, but gets in the way of some people actually respecting the guy.
    On the other hand, you never project any negativity, and are expressive without making stupid faces! I enjoy your videos and have never heard you rush, not once. But maybe I just don't know any better. I will learn more from your videos because you take the time to actually teach, not to preach.

    I wouldn't worry about criticism....its all subjective...depending on what one wants to achieve ...I remember my wife commented when I was listening to Stanley Jordan ( virtuoso jazz guitar player) ....after about 10 minutes....says " bloody hell for the love of God can't he go away and learn to write a song like Taylor Swift ".... I can appreciate both sides as a player....but most skilled players to the average listener are kinda on dimensional and boring...they're like " don't bore us just get to the chorus " lol...then of course there's players who are great players but also write great songs...Mark knopler. ..John mayer....pete Townshend...me I think you're great paul...ive stolen so so many ideas from you over the last few years...I wish I had your feel...lm a bit sloppy

      Thanks Tonya, I’m delighted you like my Tele. I bought new in 2017. It’s a custom shop Fender ‘52 heavy relic” Telecaster. It was obviously a lipstick neck pickup originally, but I’ve since swapped the stock pups for a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound bridge and a Bare Knuckle Stormy Monday (unpotted) neck. It also has a 550k tone pot. I absolutely adore this guitar.
