@Compass_- There are lots of versions of his signature including US-made ones which are upwards of 2500 - 3200. I'm saying the fact that he chooses to tour with the much more affordable import model means its not just some cheap product they produced solely to make more money.
The guy could tour with a squier strat and still shred. Not like these “players” with 15 guitars who only know how to play the same 8 riffs and have ALL the answers and knowledge.
I’ve got one of these NJ Traditional import guitars and I absolutely love it. Out of the box it was great but I love modding stuff so I swapped the stock pickups for the USA Custom Shop versions and upgraded the pots to Bourns low friction for the volume. And a No-Load tone. I also added a treble bleed. As good as it was before it is now an absolute monster of a guitar.
progdude how are the stock pickups? I keep hearing they’re shut but in all the demos I think they sound sick. Unfortunately nowhere near me carries this guitar and if I need to change the pickups then may e this guitar isn’t for me
Ryan Flinn Ryan Flinn hey Ryan, the stock pickups are really not bad. I was fully expecting them to be pure trash but they really sound pretty decent as far as import stock pickups go. My only complaint is they seem to be a little compressed and don’t “bloom” quite as nicely as most popular USA vintage style singles do. As far as the guitar goes I can’t say enough good things about it. It. The neck, fretwork, build quality, finish and tuning stability is all awesome. I have several audio only demos of the 2 sets on my channel. Not the greatest of quality but it’s more than enough to get the picture. Hope that helps!
Passion, that guitar speaks volume let alone Nick's playing. And this price point are you kidding. HOME RUN!!! Buying a beautiful axe with upgrades intact already the xl nut, xl 22 frets, Locking tuners 2 point trem looks to be big block, alder body signatures pups and stunning colors pretty amazing if you ask me. This is my humble opinion thank you Nick and schecter for helping us poor musicians for being able to obtain a superior quality instrument. GOD BLESS..
I had never heard of Nick Johnson nor had I ever played a Schecter before I bought this guitar. It is awesome. Mines is flawless and feels as good as any strat I've played. The frets and fretboard edges are perfect. The pickups sound amazing. The neck is beautiful and feels absolutely amazing. I would put mine against anything fender makes as far as fit and finish and I've owned a lot of them. The only caveat is the neck shape and radius. I'm not picky and it feels very comfortable to me. It's not shredder thin. It feels a little thinner than a 60s Tribute Les Paul I own. And the fret board is pretty flat. These are obviously personal preference though. If you're considering this guitar I would highly recommend it. It's is a high quality instrument and as good as anything you're going to find under 1500 dollars. And I'd argue the differences the Johnson and guitars costing 1500 plus are marginal.
Exactly my experience. The specs drew me to this guitar first, I thought "who the heck is Nick Johnston?" Now I'm a big fan. I bought the HSS and did end up with the Suhr mod but this is an inherent challenge of HSS guitars, not a fault of the Schecter. This guitar unexpectedly unseated my main player of 15 years. I bought it almost exactly one year ago, play it everyday, sometimes twice if I'm lucky. If you would have told me 10 years ago that not only would I buy a Schecter but it would be my main player, we may have had a real disagreement
@@emdblues At the heart of the Suhr mod is the super switch. This switch is a 4 pole switch and allows circuits to be switched together but wired separately. This way you can run a 500k pot to the humbucker and keep the traditional 250k to the middle and neck single coils. There are many alternative wiring methods with resistors and dummy loads but they all fall short. Super switch is the only way to wire an HSS
I played on this once.. it’s super amazing! I am usually comfortable with ebony fretboards and it’s super amazing and the fact the truss is placed exactly where EBMM are.. amazing makes life easier.
I just retuned mine. It really was a beautiful guitar, of exceptional quality and matches or exceed my American Strat. The neck is really awesome too, the flatter radius and jumbo frets were very comfortable. I was not happy with the sound, the pickups were quiet and lacked the brilliance and organic tone of Fenders. I don't think changing the pickups would have helped as I noticed the difference in tone acoustically. If you are looking for a great quality guitar at a good price this is the way to go. If will be playing clean and love the traditional Stratocaster sound I would recommend playing before buying.

I hear Greg Howe influence, hint of Malmsteen and some Brett Garsed. 2:10 to 2:12 straight out of a Brett Garsed solo. How much does a guy like this get paid to do this demo?
I’m sure not much. He’s really just trying to promote the guitar rather than make money on the demo. On that note, Nick Johnston is a very undervalued (and therefore underpaid I’m sure 😉) guitarist. Definitely hear the Greg Howe!
@@danielbarry5547 the roasted maple neck is beautiful and it has a 2 point system bridge with locking tuners which kinda makes it instantly better. I dont wanna have to do upgrades lol

Hi, hugh. Those are great guitars and are definitely not just for shredding. The C neck is on the thinner side but is still rounded and has a very comfortable feel. It’s not thin imo. Think of it like this I have the Schecter e1 sls elite. Said thin neck. Feels thicker and bigger than my tele. This guitar is slightly thicker so it’s like a thin but big shape if that makes sense lol
I agree with these guys. It's not shredder thin. I dont like those super thin shredder necks and I find the neck on the Johnson very comfortable. I'd say the radius of the fretboard is more noticeable.
I just got one of these. I was in the store looking for a Strat.. and one of these was used and cheaper than any Fender. I sat down with this and two Strats and played them. Sorry Fender.. your tone was thin and the volume was lower than this beast. I was thinking because the tone knob was dropped out of the circuit caused this. Any rate- AWESOME guitar not to be missed.
I have no clue who you are. I play metal. But I actually want this guitar. Lol never even played a strat. You remind me of Michael akerfeldt from opeth though.
