What's really sad is that the people who have power and can effect these changes aren't doing anything. The very ones claiming everyone deserves healthcare access and will pass a bill to raise their pay can't be bothered to cap drug prices and force the companies to stop making Americans foot the bill for caps overseas. Your sister deserves affordable medication, and I'm sorry she has to go through this. I hope you and your family are doing well as best you can.
the fact it costs less than $10 to manufacture insulin too, it's all profiteering. it costs $20 for a pack of 6 insulin pens in my country and its free once you have spent over $100 at the pharmacy for the year
too bad Charlie is clueless, and the companies didn't lose any money. Eli Lilly And Co stock is up 7% in the last 30 days and Lockheed Martin Corp stock is up 16.5% in the last 30 days. Idk if you know how stock market works, but that's not what "losing money" is lol
As a type 1 diabetic, someone who needs insulin to live, the prices of insulin are absurd. I was diagnosed only 2 years ago and I'm probably out nearly 5 figures.
My grandpa is a diabetic. He can't retire, even at 73 because of insulin prices. It's unfair. But we got some great laughs at these tweets. I hope one day soon insulin will be fairly priced.
So here in Vegas there’s a strip club called Little Darlings. They’re known for their advertising to draw in new dancers. They now have a sign that says “now hiring ex-Twitter employees, check mark included” or something like that.
Those tweets totally effected those stock prices. Some guy wrote a song about United Airlines breaking his guitar after they refused to compensate him and the song went viral. United Airlines ended up losing 10% off their stock price, resulting in a loss of $180mil. If one guy can wipe out 10% of a company's value, some troll can do half of that.
It was always supposed to just be a way for people to realize the person tweeting was actually themselves. It was distorted into a status symbol and the haves are losing their shit while the have nots are laughing their asses off.
That's the idea. The goal is to strip twitter of all of its power and political / economic influence. Honestly I hope twitter crashes and burns and never comes back. No social media outlet should have so much power over anything, let alone governments and economies.
it feels like we are back to the internet of the 2000s with all the chaos and trolling. man, i really hope that people will not stop bullying corporations and "celebrities" even if twitter goes back to the way it was.
This. I have watched people I grew up with turn over and beg for corporate love and government overreach and celebrate censorship and now it's all imploding and I'm loving every second of it.
There is bullying, and there is calling out bullshit. The latter is what you intend, right? Because when you say bully, you make me think youre out there making fun of peoples appearances and thats not cool. Calling bs out as bs does not make you a bully.
@@user-bz6gh5ng2m The word means different things to different people. he underestimated the internet. The subscription could be $100 a month and i'm sure someone will still pay just to troll. In fact, most likely ONLY trolls will pay at that price point
Considering random nobodies give Charlie 20$ a month for a sub just so they can feel special with a little badge in chat, tells me a ton of people will pay 8$ a month for a twitter badge.
@@alexpkeaton4471 the thing for me is what if a troll account that is banned is actually a name a person wanted ( for example an up and coming youtuber). Does that now mean they are stuck with a no nonsense name that makes them seem more like an imposter then the banned one lol.
This was kinda his plan. He did say that he hated how Twitter was this political super machine that had incredible influence in the real world, he believes that social media should just be a neat thing, not a real political power. And honestly, even if twitter has to crash and burn before it stops being a weapon, it will be worth it.
Exactly! Everyone believes everything they see on the internet, it's ridiculous. I find it so annoying when news articles started using Twitter posts as "evidence" towards their agenda. Meanwhile, it's a single troll online making a stupid post, but the news will say this one random Twitter user represents whatever demographic.
Seeing the support for us diabetics in the comments almost makes me want to cry. It feels like nobody talks about this disease, and to see some dialogue being opened up is amazing.
You were done dirty by the privatization of healthcare. The guy who made the joke tweet just put a spotlight on how garbage the system is. Sadly some people still defend this.
Did he just lowkey admit to being the troll who crashed their market for insulin? When he said * I actually just wiped out billions of dollars there* when he was speaking about it. That would be awesome.

Heard about this as it was going on in action, I was laughing my ass off. And I love how it effected Eli Lilly specifically, a company financially abusing a medication that's been patented for and sold for a dollar because it was supposed to be a gift to the world.
Lmao, same tho. Imagine being a company that takes advantage of innocent people by putting an unreasonable price on something that is needed for said people to live. Those who are diabetic go through enough very difficult challenges. Insulin has no right to be as expensive as it is. Its wack. Capitalizing on people that are vulnerable is horrendous. …and yeah. Ever since day 1 of Elom Nusp’s acquirement of blue birb inc., things have been absolutely off the chains. I would have never imagined that watching twitter crumble away at the seams would be this hilarious. Man. What a goofy time to be alive.
Insulin’s prices are ridiculous. I work at a pharmacy and watched someone purchase a one month supply WITH insurance at $875. Insulin companies deserve to suffer for their greed honestly, insulin should be free since, I dunno, it’s used for survival.
I worked buying pharmaceutical drugs In the Veterans Administration pharmacy. We buy a vial of insulin in bulk for $35 a vial. The civilian industry is gouging people.
I agree the price is outrageous, but because something is used for survival, doesn't mean it should be free. Otherwise food should also be free. And to a degree, housing protects us in freezing weather, so that should be free too, per your reasoning. I don't know...maybe in the year 3000 A.D. these things will be free, but we can't reasonably pull it off now. :)
I think instead of coincidences they were an inevitability. A lot of stocks drop in value in a day, and given the number of companies being imitated there’s bound to be some crossover
I feel like I'm living in a different world on Twitter right now. Everyone else seems to be angry about the changes, but for me, I've been posting my art there for 3 years. In that time a total of 5 people would ever see it. In the past 2 weeks I have gone from 7 followers to almost a thousand. So either this is a huge coincidence, or Elon did something that ended up helping super small artists on Twitter somehow. Either way, I am grateful.
a lot of artists have moved to tumblr, so it could be that your art is popping up more in peoples feeds to replace the artists who abandoned/deleted their accounts
As a non diabetic eli lilly deserves to burn in eternal agony. Though that wouldn't make up for the compounded suffering they've directly caused with their prices
My favorite thing to come out of twitter blue is that now you can buy blue checkmarks on Tumblr for $8, and you can do it multiple times and each one stacks, so you can have like, 10 checkmarks and it destroys the ability to read your username. Its great
I was someone who thought this wasn’t going to go like this basically because I truly thought they wouldn’t be dumb enough to just implement it without having failsafes for imposters or people pretending to be companies/famous people. But no apparently you could still just change your name and make a fake handle that resembles a company and it’d be okay. They should’ve made something like a gold tick that can only be given to verified businesses and verified celebs but then what is the point of this blue tick system at all I guess
scrolling through my timeline and seeing super mario flipping the bird at me was unironically the most entertaining thing thats come out of this entire disaster movie LMAO
Every platform has this problem. I remember MySpace had these trolls too. The more platforms made, the more profiles these guy’s create. Facebook is still really bad as well. Every time I turn around somebodies profile has been cloned.
Ur kinda gullible if you think a fake tweet can tank a share price and then keep it down when everyone knows its fake. It was just a normal price correction, tweet was a coincidence
you shouldn't have to pay for something that keeps you alive in the short term diabetes medication, emergency life saving surgery, stuff like that so happy to see people talk about this awful shit companies do and have been doing because it needs to stop as soon as possible
As a type 1 diabetic I was pretty disappointed over the troll, it would've been so awesome if something that my body needs to do a basic function wasn't being held over my head teasing me, especially when so many insurances don't want to do reasonable refills
yea my mom uses insulin and they moved her to a different type recently bc they raised the insurance price and she couldn't pay. not even considering the fact that her body would basically be "shell shocked" in a sense bc of the sudden change
