- I have sadly said goodbye to my BMW F800 GS Adventure and upgraded to a 2016 BMW R1200 GS Adventure. This is my first ride on the bike and it is such a big difference.

Thoroughly entertaining Mate. You pull up at the traffic light and the guy next to you greets and you say ‘howzit’..brings a tear to my eye.Good to see the old stomping ground.cheers from Canada!
Appriciate the comment, mate.
Congrats on the new 1200 GS dude. Hope you have many safe and happy miles!
Congrats on the new ride.. I'm currently on the hunt for a 2012 GSA myself..
Great bike GS
Grew bike man. I’m currently hunting for a 2016 R1200GS myself
You won’t regret it. Great bike. Currently on a 3000km round trip. 900km in on the first day and it did not skip a beat
Awesome video! Will definitely be giving this a full watch when I get home
Appreciate the support
Don’t forget that you can adjust your Windshield. Great Video, I Love the Color of the Bike. Hopefully someday I can upgrade from my 2006 R1200GS, but I’m still very happy with mine. Wonderful Bikes. The People that put down the GS I think, have never Ridden one. Looking forward to the next Video.👍😁
Thank you for the feedback. Appreciate the input.
I did make a follow up video. I will make more videos soon.
@2:58 That Tygervalley road, constantly do pulls under the N1 🤣🤣
I do pulls everywhere lately
@9:42 Decided to take a ride once, early on a Sunday morning. Like 6:30ish. Started there at the bottom of the hill and gave the bike a ear full. Got ontop of the hill to merge onto the N1, and wouldn't you guess it. A traffic officer was chilling on the side of the N1🤣🤣passed that oke at 260, he must have been befok
Congrats on the upgrade. Hope she serves you well..
Thank you. She already is with my daily commute
Nice choice of bike dude. I bought my first gs in august got a new gsa rallye te got her early sept miine is one of those built without the fancy adaptive led headlight due to semi conductor shortages. They are going to retrifit it for free around march.
Awesome bike dude. Enjoy the adventure 🤘🏻
They didn’t say which March! Lol
@@ianjames3078 aha ffs. I hope its next march
@@austinmatthews347 fingers crossed. Considering changing my 1200GS (2016) in for a 1250GS…….don’t need the A, had one before.
Suddenly I feel lucky to have a used bike that already have the fancy light. I did not like the old school bulb light on my old F800 and the light was terrible. Have not taken a ride in the dark but, I am sure it is better.
@austin, what light did it come with?
Wow you're my man! I'm torn between a 2016 800gs or the 2016 1200gs, I bet you can help me out! Can you please do a comparison vid after riding the new beast for a while? How do they compare weight, balance, torque wise? Would you feel comfortable to take the 1200 on these off roads you were doing on the 800? And how much more do you think the cost of ownership will be?
Thanks for keeping the vid music-free so we can listen to the boxer sound! Subscribed!
Greeting from Greece🤗
Thank you for the kind words. It is much appreciated and I will make a video based on the above.
In short, both bikes are amazing so it will depend on your mission. For me, riding 99% tar, the 1200 makes more sense with the option of going offroad.
Thank you for the suggestion.
Cheers from South Africa.
The engine in the big boy GS is far better. There is a reason its the most sold bike in the UK by a large margin.
My 1250gsa is the best bike I have owned!
I'm considering a 1200GSA as next bike. I'm not sure the difference in performance justifies the cost of the 1250 , even if it's 10% better the 1200 looks like it accelerates just fine. Would you agree?
In my opinion the 1250 has a lot more tech and come more advanced cams so probably a little better performance wise and comfort wise. The 1250 is the replacement for the 1200 from 2018 so if you want a newer bike, the 1250 would be the way to go. I do agree the 1200 has enough power. I have found the electronics work really hard to keep the front wheel down.
Do you have any good gravel routes on South Africa that you can recommend, I'm currently in Durban.
I am not familiar with the routes in KZN as I am in WP and have not yet had the opportunity to travel by bike in KZN.
I suggest checking out the Wilddog forum. There is a lot more knowledge on there.
I'm sorry because i don't know much about GS. Is 2016 GS still use key? Not keyless?
I have not seen a 2016 with the keyless option yet. I have seen a few 2018 and newer models with the option. Well in South Africa at least. I am not sure if it was an option on the 2016 bikes.
I actually prefer a key over keyless but, it is a personal preference.
I'm being honest. In my Country (Cambodia) even GSA 2015 is smartkey (Keyless) i don't understand too. Is there an option?@@Ruansch
It was an optional extra. Not a lot of people took the options so have not seen many 2014-2017 models with the keyless option. The newer 1250 seems to come out with it as a standard option.
I’m debating so so hard to trade my 21 ultra in for a 22-23 bmw 1250gs wife says no way but hey it’s cheaper and seems to be better
Sometimes it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission 😉.
Have not had the opportunity to give the 1250gs go but, I hear they are really good.
Hi, I Traded a Dyna Wide Glide for mine a long Time back. I’m sooo much more comfortable on the GS. It’s also a Lot more fun. Test Ride one and see how you like it. I think you will Love it as much as I do.👍
@@joeybobbie1 I think so to hit wife rides with me a lot so I don’t think she would like it
I'm out!
K bye
Music bro! 🤢🤮 just doesn't fit
Sounds like a you problem
