I can absolutely relate to the excitement Kate ! Took delivery of my 1250 GS Rallye three days ago and she’s absolutely magnificent. My first bike and 50th birthday present to myself (my midlife crisis just became a reality !). I can also understand why Usernamedad is so passionate about his GS. Ride safely and regards from Johannesburg, South Africa 🇿🇦.
I hate that "midlife crisis" phrase, even though I use it myself :) When I was young I had no money for synthesisers, drum machines and motorbikes. Now Im old enough to buy therm, its a crisis :)
I miss my GS so much! Your enjoyment is rekindling my love for them. Rode mine around Portugal with my Dad who also owns one (still does) .... Great bike, looking forward to more content.
Wow Kate, this video brings back happy memories! I have bought about 7 bikes from BMW Williams Manchester in the past, including an R1200GS, that I used to travel from Manchester to Marrakesh! Super bike! Have fun!!
Hi there from NZ. Thank you for your great channel. After watching your tube I have purchased a 2018 1200GS, with gear shift assist and TFT dash, and really enjoying it, although I am an older rider(58) I am finding is not at all intimidated by its size, as was expecting. Very much appreciated for your blogs.
Great Bike Kate. For me it’s just hearing your excitement in your voice too when riding it the first time, we have all been there and is a great feeling !
For me this is my dream bike, a GS. I was smitten the first time i ever rode one. Great choice Kate. You can still filter with the panniers. They are usually narrower than the bars. So if they fit the panniers will. Obviously take it easy on your filter trip with them fitted. You will soon forget they are there as you get use to them. Can’t wait to see more content on this bad boy. Remus or Akropovic is probably where i would look. Both sound great on the big GS
You are starting a new trend now Kate, more off the ladies will follow you and gett touring bikes. I love that you have done it! Keep up the great work! 😊😊👍
Hi Kate - New subscriber here - I have the 2016 Triple Black Low with a GSA rear conversion to accept the GS Adventure panniers and the bike is maintained by Williams. Did a 3,000 miles tour with BMW Motorrad and the bike was awesome, no fatigue. The stock exhaust is absolutely fine, has a lovely overrun and many who have changed eventually return to the stock exhaust (e.g.The Missenden Flyer). Recommend you spend the money on adding gear shift assist pro and / or add a Nav 6 for a digital gps read-out with speed camera info. Have fun!
A minute in and I’m loving hearing the excitement in your voice about your new steed. That’s what makes your content so watchable. Never change Kate.🇬🇧🇬🇧❤️
Your video has been so motivating, I just picked up almost the same bike as yours, having your voice in my head "it popped up in my price range ... I didn ´t even test drive it ... absolutely adorable ... it feels so good to be on a GS". I have seen your video so many times. Now I won ´t have to look at it anymore, I just walk to the garage and there it is, the GS :-)
Nice work Kate, I bought the 2013 1200GS and just about to click over 107,000kms. She's still going strong! Can't wait to see what you get up to on the GS, ride safe mate!
Wow and i thought you were pulling our leg, Bloody great bike. Bikesure are great been with them 2 years and cant fault them, they really look after my zx7r for me and half the price i paid lexham Enjoy that bike and ride safe out there
Thanks Kate been thinking about a GS for few years but at 5ft 8 hesitant to take the plunge. Seen your video and got a 2017 TE with all the trimmings just awaiting delivery now and step ladders at the ready
Girl....you got me smiling here alone...watching your reaction to the bike. And its YOURS!!! So enjoy it.. Congrats on your decision, and purchase. I'm very biased towards the GS..as it has always been my fav bike..but you made a great decision. ;) (I'll have one of my own, one day, too.) kudos from Portugal. PS: listen to that roar .....yes !
Pre-owned is the way to go, especially on a quality bike. Most of the initial depreciation has gone. I ride a maxi scooter which I bought used 4 years ago and I love it!
HA! loved listening to you all excited, Remus is nice but expensive, the Arrow can is really nice, sounds good and is cheaper.....i personally like the analog gauges....congrats!! the mighty GS is a helluva bike....
New to yuor channel Kate, congrats on the new GS. There's nothing more exciting than buying a new bike. I just picked up a 2012 CBR600 after owning a Suzuki SV1000SZ. Very different bike in every way but time will tell if i keep it long or not.
How great you are so chuffed. As you rode away at the start, I think your pronunciation of GS sounded like Jess, so there you have it. Enjoy the new bike Kate and ride safe 👍🏻
Exact same model as mine.... bought it new, won’t sell it as it perfect. Quick shift it is there, just twitch the throttle and flick the shift and you’re set. As for the panniers, if the handle bars can go through the gap, the rest will follow without worries. Don,t bother with the exhaust after market, those that have gone for the, regret it if they do long distances. TFT dash is just a massive distraction of options, the old dials and lcd displays provides everything required. Recommend you go on an ORS course only to explore what one of these bikes can do with full nobly tires off-road. Enjoy and be safe.
Kate, you seemed to be struggling getting on the GS. Why don’t you try getting aboard by standing on the left foot peg & stepping over with your right leg. Try it! That’s how I get on mine & Im 6” & 88 kilos!
I'm a average rider, am desperate to have a boxer engine, never riden one before, I like the idea of em. Thinking of a 9rt ,but don't know. Am made up for you, am so excited for your new baby. Be safe.xx
Have fun with Your GS! Get Yourself a birthday present on the next occasion and get the quickshifter. I use the blipper very often. Braking with the engine using the blipper is a real upgrade. My 2013 LC has the quickshifter and I real would miss it now.
Call it Trevor. I have to say that i'm a sportsbike chap at heart and when you dropped the tease of that black S1000RR i was a little disappointed. However, that GS is one stunning looking machine. Ride safe and enjoy it
I am still happy with my 2015 R1200GS that I bought new. I ordered a new set of tires for it today. Hoping to do an epic road trip this season, across most of the US. I am from NY.
I was dreaming of an adventure. Contemplating a used KLR. I found a well used 2017 R1200 Exclusive. Which fit my budget. Amazing bike. I did my bucket list ride up to the Arctic Ocean. Round Alaska and back. It's a great bike. I hope you have enjoyed your adventures on yours as much as I have enjoyed mine.
Ahh princess UNK I really enjoyed that ride with you... On the bike I mean!!! 😂 You sound so happy with your new baby and you know you made the right choice so we are all delighted for you and we are all looking forward to sharing your adventures on it... I think you should take us shopping again Kate let's just see how much stuff you can cram into those suit cases.... Aldi here Kate comes 😂😂😂😂❤️
Oh boy...Another GS ....I guess I’m missing something. Now, a R9T I could get into. I am very happy for you. Looking forward to seeing you traveling on that beast!
Enjoy your GS Kate , I had a 1050 Speed triple , and bought a 1250 GS Rallye TE and absolutely love it. The speed triple will always have a soft spot in my heart but the GS is just brilliant.
I bought my first ever GS (1250 Exclusive aka "Jadzia") in 2019 and love it. It's been to Norway/Spain (before lockdown) and is now being used as a Bloodrunner bike in my spare time. Being vertically challenged (29" inside leg) I had to make a few changes so i have the suspension in low..My boot has a thicker soul and I bought a new seat rubber bung from NN which lowers the seat by a few extra mm. This allows me to go from tippy-toe to 3/4 of my foot being down. One of the main reason i got the 1250 was for the TFT screen which is easier to read and you can change over to KPH very easily when travelling in Europe. PS you can filter with the panniers on with no problem.
I did my bike licence at age 50 and had a few bikes before the one I really wanted, a 2002 1150 GS (in 2006) which took me to the Sahara and back many years ago, then all around Europe including the Italian Lakes. Great bike! Now I'm in my 70s and no longer touring but have the Boxer vibe with my lovely R9T (from Williams Manchester of course). There's something about that Boxer character! As you know! Vince
Glad you're so happy with the new bike Kate! I had a carbon SC project on my 17 plate R1200RS with full de-cat and it sounded absolutely mega, like a giant 450 SM!
It’s great to see you so happy with your GS! They are the best.....especially in Triple Black. The bars are actually the widest point and it’s fine to filter with the boxes on.....you’ll see once you’re used to the bike. Please - the more vids riding this bike the better.....any aspect works for me.....Enjoy and ride safe!
Just seen this, love the excitement. I recently moved up to a 2015 R1200GS and it really is the dream bike. Mine has the quick shifter, but I hardly use it, so far!
Thanks for posting. Happy for you! Enjoy your bike in good health. Just an fyi, at least in the USA, the Garmin V has been discontinued, and the Garmin VI looks like it is being phased out. So if you are planning on getting a GPS unit for the built in mount, you might want to do it sooner rather than later. Also, there is a company (can't remember the name) which makes an adaptor which allows the rider to place their iPhone on the built-in GPS mount. If memory serves me right, it will even charge the iPhone while on the mount.
Enjoy the Black Jack!! I came back into bikes and got a RE 650 Interceptor, then needed something for two up with Leanne, so got a 2nd hand R1200RT, and the joy of effortless riding, the sound of the Boxer, and the torque enamours me every time I choose to ride her over the fun 650! Its great to hear you so happy Kate!
You can hear from that video that you made the right choice. Enjoy it, they're a great bike. And you'll be filtering with them panniers on pretty soon, I do it on my RT no problem👍
Enjoyed the Video, Glad you are happy with your purchase! I will at some point get away from S1000's and own a GS as I do want to get some Touring in one day in the future. Hope its treating you well.
Very accurate and honest video. Thank you . As a returning biker I’m relishing your videos and attitude, to rebuild my own confidence and improve my riding . Thank you and best wishes.
i hummed and arred for years and i’ve finally bought my first gs1200 te 18reg with tft just 6 weeks ago, chopped a sportsbike in for it and i absolutely love it, wish i’d bought one years ago, i swear i’ll never buy any other make or model of bike, an awesome bike made even more awesome with the QUICKSHIFTER.
Yeah, yeah. Also, I can hear the Ker-chunk of a GS quickshifter from miles away, frightening women and small children. Come the summer, you'll be wishing for that sports bike instead of kidding yourself that agricultural, 1930's tech 2 wheel barge is where it's at.
@@tonebonetones ..i’m entitled to my opinion, all bikes have their own characteristics and most modern bikes are coming with quick shifter compliant now.. just because you don’t understand how to use them or you’re not capable of operating them doesn’t mean you have to dismiss them.. as for you thinking i’ll be wanting another sports bike, well that’s your opinion and you can stick that where the sun don’t shine
I’ve got a Yoshimura Hepta Force can on my 1250, it’s black and sounds great, especially if your pushing on a bit, on the gear changes it pops and cracks beautifully
Quite jealous!...hehehehe! I'm dying to get another bike after moving to America. Been 8 years! ATM it will probably be something on the cheaper side. I have my eye on a 2014 Tiger 800. Like you, I don't see anything wrong with getting a slightly older bike. Yeah, I'd LOVE a 900 Rallye Pro but they're a bit steep for me. Maybe in a few years when they become used. That's a lovely looking bike you got though! Many happy (s)miles to you!
Someone obviously loves their new bike. Nice to see you enjoying your commute home. I used to do that section of road passed the Casino. Nightmare. Ride safe.
Dear Kate, good choice! My 1200GS is the best bike I’ve ever owned. Quick tip: the bars and mirrors are wider than the panniers to don’t worry about filtering. If the bars will go through, so will the cases 👍. Unless they’re expanded of course... and the quick shifter? I have it but don’t use it. There’s a lever on the left handgrip that stops all those graunching noises 😂. Enjoy the ride 😁
I have this bike and have loved it. I cannot justify upgrading to anything else, this does everything and I couldn't sell it for what I'd need to get anything remotely comparable. Wish mine was triple black though, that's beautiful
Finally Boxer Engine and Kardan. Two of the most important arguments for me. The sound is pretty unmistakable. Really great bike! The only thing that would bother me would be the joints of the windshield in the field of vision. But that's probably the price you have to pay to have no more wind on your helmet. I was also very enthusiastic about my test drive. With this machine, I could only think of one fitting description while driving: sovereignty. Ride Safe!
Totally get everything you said about riding a GS. Even though mine is a baby (750 compared to your 1200) everything you said still rings true. So easy to ride, panniers etc are amazing and freeing - hate riding with a back pack, its great having the luggage space. You do feel like a boss! I don’t think I’ll ever go back to anything else. You made a great choice. Think I’d chose the quick shifter over the exhaust though. It’s one of my favourite things on my bike! I’d miss it if it wasn’t there - open tarmac and being able to flip through the gears is a blast.
Nice video! I like your excitement! Month and a bit ago I've collected my R1200rs (2017) and I was super impressed 👌🏻 Have to say... there is something special about BMW bikes... No doubt! All the best!
Test rode the 1250gsa and loved it, saw one of these in dealership on way out, weighed up the differences and deposit was laid down. Pick it up next week hopefully. Cannat wait man.
@@UsernameKate Picked it up Tuesday, had a lovely ride out today over Durham Moors and back to the NE coast. It's perfect, just need to order panniers. How you enjoying yours?
Great choice Kate won’t go wrong with either one 1200 or the 1250 in your place today getting my first service on 1250 gs amazing bike love it great show keep up the good work from gs Geoff 😁👍
I have a very noisy 2013 R1200 GS LC TE ,it is the engine not exhaust, but it runs a treat 77K. Just nicely run in. You are right to like them. They make you smile. I wonder if the new Harley does that? Oh Teapot really uses his in the high end of the revs to notice chalk and cheese I think, have a listen to the engine when he rides.
The new bike looks in excellent condition and sounds great. I have been riding both the 1200 and 1250 in training. The 1200 is better off-road. The 1250 with shiftcam excels on tarmac. Try fitting an Innovv camera system, it is very easy. I was not a fan of boxer engines on bikes but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy a GS.
Hey Kate if you got a GS you really should go ride some dirt. It adds to the adventure. The great thing about a GS is that you can take it were you can't take other motorcycles. Nothing crazy just gravel or dirt roads.
Hi, love your videos! I’m currently riding a 2016 Speed Triple and giving serious thought to getting a newer 1200GS or GSA. Videos like this help immensely! Thanks again 😊
Congratulations Kate, I'm chuffed that you love your new bike! I have exactly the same Triple Black GS (mine's a 15 plate but otherwise identical including luggage and even the MRA screen). I did try a 1250, and had it for a full afternoon. My conclusion was that I'll stick with my current bike for another year or two, and once 1250s reach around £12k ish I'll go for one. No rush, I love mine too 😊
I looked at a few used BMW GS bikes. But, here in the US they want a premium for them even if 15 years old and 80k miles on the odo. Probably for the best for me. I had been off bikes for close to 15 years. I got a deal on a slightly used Honda CB500X and loved it. It, however, did not like my fat ass. I am not light weight... I then found a deal on a one year old Moto Guzzi V85 TT. All the accessories except for aux lights. The test ride sold me on it. Even though it is only a couple hundred cc larger than the 500X It gets out and scoots if pushed. The 500X was old dependable. Just not very quick. Enjoy the ride!
That said, just seen Teapotone's vlog on his 2016 Triple Black from 4 years ago and he added the full Akrapovic system generating additional hp and it does sound pretty awesome!
Hi ya Kate, so pleased for you and your GS purchase. You sound sooooooooo proper excited. Hope to pop up and see you soon at Williams as soon as we can, take care 😉👍🏼
Does the GS satisfy the motorcycle fix with reguards to fun and thrills. Know what I mean? For instance I’m sitting on the couch and I want to go out out of the garage and hop on a motorcycle and get a fix. Does the GS do it or do I need to get a smaller sportier bike?
I had a 2014 GS800 & honestly Kate, it was the best handling & comfortable bike I’ve ever owned. Capacity was just a tad underpowered. Right bike, wrong time. Several of my riding mates here in Australia have either 1200 GS or 1250 GS. They are “mature” riders, one an ex racer. They give absolutely nothing away to sports bikes through the hills around country/rural Victoria! Congrats & enjoy 👏🏼👍🏼😎🇦🇺
Awesome choice of bike, looks so good too, I love my GSA, it’s hard to explain but it just goes so well and feels so good. The new RT has me wanting two bikes but the GS bikes are so good.

i felt the exact same when i took a 2015 triumph tiger 800 xrx out for a test ride at the weekend , totally loved it
I think the standard silencer sounds really good as it is, louder pipes are a very personal choice.
Awesome bike !
Glad you like it. Nothing wrong with (slightly) older bikes. No need to get the latest and greatest every 2-3 years.
Problem is on a pcp after 2-3 years most people can't afford to do anything else but hand it back and start another pcp.

Contagious enthusiasm.
So cute !
@@tonebonetones ..i’m entitled to my opinion,
all bikes have their own characteristics and most modern bikes are coming with quick shifter compliant now..
just because you don’t understand how to use them or you’re not capable of operating them doesn’t mean you have to dismiss them.. as for you thinking i’ll be wanting another sports bike, well that’s your opinion and you can stick that where the sun don’t shine
Top bike nice one. Akra all day, plus Mudsling & frame infills (keep crap off your legs), hand guard extenders.......the list goes on & on. Enjoy 😎
I’ve got a Yoshimura Hepta Force can on my 1250, it’s black and sounds great, especially if your pushing on a bit, on the gear changes it pops and cracks beautifully
Panniers always make filtering fun! Looking forward to seeing your adventures with the new bike.
Yes oh yes more videos with this new beast sweet please! haha Enjoy and ride safe!
Just shift it and keep loving it! You have a nice Bike! Youll find a lot of use for those panniers! Youll be glad theyre on it!
You’re right about the average rider thing. I feel so confident on mine compared to anything I’ve ever ridden before
I have this bike and have loved it.
Ride Safe!
Panniers soon fill with all sorts of junk,(you might need) and filtering , if the bars go through so will the boxes. I'm dead jealous I want one!
My bars go over mirrors.. really embarrassing trying to filter and smacking a car with the panniers
Yes Simon!! You know my thoughts on the 750 GS, cracking bike as well 😊 hopefully we'll see you around from when everything opens back up tomorrow!
@@UsernameKate yeah, be glad when things start opening up again. Need a road trip on the bike too.
Snap! Have the same bike. Love it (except the gearbox!). Ride safe.
Hey, did you pick it up?? Hope you love it! 😊
@@UsernameKate Picked it up Tuesday, had a lovely ride out today over Durham Moors and back to the NE coast. It's perfect, just need to order panniers. How you enjoying yours?
Congratulations on the new bike have 2017 gs adventure love my the bike
Fit some rear-facing machine guns in the panniers, to take out any future bike jackers!
I expect it’s an option for next year, as are fans to blow potential covid germs away at traffic lights 😉
That triple black looks really nice.
I was so convinced you had us April fooled. Congrats nevertheless and always safe travels
No rush, I love mine too 😊
CONGRATULATIONS Kate. Nice bike...ride safe.
So happy for you! I love my R 1200 GS.
Glad you love your Guzzi ❤
Enjoyed the vid Northern chick, love your enthusiasm, I’ve had a GS, XR and now I’m on an R9T with c400x for commuting. PS love your accent ❤️👍😍
Abso-bloody-lutely. Does for me anyway!
congrats on the new bike!
With panniers on and being short, stand on footpeg when mounting the bike. You'll get on and off so much easier.
Awesome choice of bike, looks so good too, I love my GSA, it’s hard to explain but it just goes so well and feels so good.
The new RT has me wanting two bikes but the GS bikes are so good.
