I really hope so too. This game looks amazing and I love the different Cryptids hidden in the cards and the D&D feel of it. And Lathrix's personality and voice makes it all the better
The game isn't too long, so he could beat it in 10~ episodes probably unless he really takes his time.

It’s actually possible to win the bear fight in the “tutorial” sadly he don’t comment on it even if you do win…
Win conditions: 1 if you kill the bear another will just drop right away…
2 If you get the scale down to 0 he will cheat once by giving himself 3 health back and filling his board with 4 bears…
So while it is possible you also need luck to pull it off (fortunately resetting the save at this point is rather quick) since the placement of bears and trees are also randomized…
But if luck is with you and a wolf has been possessed by a sparrow for flying…
It is possible to attack over the bears and make the scale go down to 0 a second time thus winning the encounter…
Correction: it WAS possible in the demo but unfortunately it has either been patched in the full release or it was never possible in the full game from the very beginning...
I tried to do a challenge with a fresh game (had copied my main save file) and if you manage to pull it off the bird is given the flying guard sigil out of thin air (the bears had that from the very beginning, thus flying over the bird was the only option to win in the demo).
In post game the bird has the sigil visible right away. Thus with the cards and items given at the beginning of the game the first bear encounter is impossible. Later bear encounters on boss 2 and 3 are still possible to win against though.

The key is to always have scissors
And with my experience in the game in how I beat kaycee's mod full challenges : there is no luck in inscryption, only a clock that ticks every turn you play and ticking three time when get to loot a bag : therefore if you know the timer your on : you know how to get two scissors easily...
@@snakehorde I am aware, the whole game can be beaten by only losing a single encounter. What I was commenting on in my second comment is how the TUTORIAL bear encounter is unbeatable and therefore is the one and only time in the whole game where you have to lose.
Following this encounter the other two bear encounters are very much winnable and you can progress through the whole rest of the game without ever creating a single death card...
I thought Mr. Lath would enjoy this game!

Little tip: there's something faintly written in the rulebook that'll help you in your journey
Also, when you fought the angler, you killed them, or at least the first stage, too fast. Someone killed them normally and that grizzly thing didn't happen
they made that info hidden until the stoat calls it out
@@vaelophisnyx9873 it's visible in the second run before the stoat mentions it, you can see it briefly when he picks up the book near the end but he didn't notice it was visible
The angry angler has nothing to do with turn times, you just can't beat him on your first run because of the thing at the end of the cabin

getting an hour glass with a 5 attack creature is the easiest

I personally want to believe PO3 only cared for the most "optimal" play so his part is WAY less flavorful then Leshy's same with the mechanics.
I thought act 2 way okay but yea, overall Act 1 is definitely the best

Act 2 is definitely slower overall…
The inability to control when a squirrel drops means that a deck either needs to be balanced so that something viable can be played as soon as possible…
Or the deck is built around stalling until a bunch of powerful cards can be played all at once…
The fact that with the right death cards you can deal “infinite” overkill damage is rather hilarious and good if one wants to collect them all…
I have not tested if it crashes after a set number…
The thing is that act 2 did not feel all that much longer for me because I often found myself stalling in act 1 whenever I thought I could get away with it and get more overkill…
Hey lath, couple of tidbits for ya.
1. The campfire is a risk/reward mechanic that you can use multiple times, it's only because it's a tutorial run you only do it once.
2. The ring is for further into the run, it will help to have it. If you get far enough.
So I might be in the minority here, but I would love to see (mostly) uncut runs of this.
Have been following aliensrock playthrough, and now you start making videos about this game as well. Honestly this is probably one of the best indie games of the year.

The Ouroboros has a fun effect where when it dies, it returns to your hand. However, unlike other cards that do this, every time the Ouroboros dies, it gains 1 attack and 1 health *permanently* - this doesn't just last between battles in the same run, either, it actually persists between runs. This makes this otherwise underwhelming card one of the strongest in the game.
Ouroboros' hidden effect is explained the first time you see it at least
It is horrific how closely the 'Gold Nugget' resembles the 'Sacrificial Lamb' card from the game War of Omens. Hint, the lamb is not a sheep.

first i discover cultist simulator, now this ? what happened to my card game genre, and why do i love it :D
I hope you keep this series going for a while, it's such a fun game. Also that first run was genuinely impressive. I didn't even know the Angler could do that for his second phase, if you got this far in one go.
I loved this playthrough but please dont cut out any of the game in editing 4 the future this was really fun.
Would love to see more uncut, this was bloody enjoyable to watch!
15 minute mark: You know, I'm just realizing just how often people literally make the exact same choices. I swear I've seen this first bit play out the exact same not just with myself, but every other youtuber I've seen play this, it's hilarious actually.
Eager to see how you play through this after the initial set up.

I did do the same thing with giving it the growth ability though
I think it has to do with how limited your options are in the beginning…
With the cost of playing a card being rather high (especially since your first deck have several two blood cost cards) there really is no real incentive to take the poison…
Same with the bird vs cub… They are both a 1 1 but the ability to grow stronger as shown in the fight before the choice is rather tempting as having more damage on the board becomes rather important given the small size of the deck and the large number of high cost cards (for someone who has yet to see a 4 cost).
Remember a newbie would have no idea what any of the symbols of the map represents therefore our risk/ reward mindset combined with limited options are what makes so many play the same way (in my opinion)…
I want this game now. Love the grimness of the art. I also really enjoy watching these longer videos for your insights. Highly edited kind of takes away from that and it’ll be hard to follow the progression of the deck as it is built

Honestly, I really enjoy the full playthrough minus the jump-cuts between major battles. Would be down to watch hour or more long episodes!

Oh, unexpected yet I probably should have expected given your cool Monster Train LPs. I've heard this game is pretty long, longer than listed gameplay time is suggested, and has a spoiler-tastic ending. Dunno if I'll ever play it, but anyone interested should brace for story spoilers, but that makes sense if you're watching the LP. Interested to see how you react/tackle it given your interests and uh, animal life background!

Lathrix, having seem one other video on this game, heres a tip. You can do as much on your turn as you want, as long as you have space you can sacrifice to your hearts content. IE you can sacrifice to get the cat out, then sacrifice the cat (although i think its only works once a turn if i recall) to get something else out.
Also, when you figure it out how to get them, grab the things in the ROOM around you, your gonna need them.

Well kind of. I don't know that death cards get any more common over time. But yes the more unlocks the easier the game gets by and large.

Idk why, but this really drew me in. Fantastic atmosphere, and that includes both the game and your gameplay! Your years as a dm must have done you well.
If i had to guess, i would assume that child 13 is in fact a dragon, and if, only if, you can give it the wolf cub effect, then it will become a more mature dragon, probably getting +2/2, or perhaps even more.
But, that requires some massive luck. The 7/7 dude just seems overpowered. But, it looks to have zero synergies, so that is something.
Uriyali (the 7/7) is strong, but the *massive* 4 blood cost makes it difficult to use unless you also get a Black Goat. Getting both in a run takes a decent bit of luck. Its main benefit, imo, is being used as fodder for a death card, though it's still nice when you can actually play it in a run.

im surprised and minor dissapointed that lathrix hasnt seen the code for the Safe yet while others have been ways faster at spotting it.

Just wanted to comment, You actually -can- beat him with the Glitch grizzlies, but it's a thing he does if you somehow get all the way to this point in the "First tutorial Run" as you will of learned by now, But it is possible...But not easy, You have to have an insanely good first run, and just the right plays/items to do it, which I got lucky while streaming.
Interaction for the algorithm! Hopefully our collective contribution can encourage our lad to continue on, it’s a weird one for sure!
