How do the various Foursquare ECS vintages compare across the years - here we compare the
Foursquare 2009 vintage, Foursquare 2008 vintage and Foursquare 2007 vintage.
The latest release from Foursquare distillery is the 2009 vintage - Mark 17 (XVII). Aged at origin (tropical) in Barbados for 12 years and represents another fantastic and limited (30,000 bottles) vintage. Priced at circa £60-£70 and released annually, this is a good opportunity to try the latest expression by Richard Sesle.

Foursquare ECS 2007 Vintage (89 points)
Foursquare ECS 2008 Vintage (91 points)
Foursquare ECS 2009 Vintage (90 points)
All 3 rums were high performers especially in aroma, intensity and mouthfeel where they are very inviting and leave a long, flavoursome and velvety feeling in your mouth on all sips.
Foursquare 2008 just pipped the other two by a point as I felt it was slightly more complex and rounded but we really are clutching at straws here - there is very little fault for any of them based on a 12yo rum costing less than £100.
If you’re looking to get into higher abv rums then this is a good place to start.
It would be interesting to try the Foursquare 2005 as this won the supreme spirit awards beating, amongst others, whisky contenders.

The 08 for sure! 07 is my least favorite but still really good. I did just find a new favorite though, Redoubtable!
I bought a 2009 Cask Strength Mark XXII 120 proof aged in Bourbon Barrels. It's awesome!! My friend Scott tried the one aged in Zinfandel Casks. He didn't like that version, but I really enjoy the one I got.

Thanks Bill and sorry for not responding sooner. Life, job, family took priority which is why I’ve been quiet. There’s a few more Foursquare coming in.2022 which we’re looking forward to. Everything points to early September but you never know with the Uk at the minute. 4 weeks and counting 🤤
I wonder if other people pick up the nail polish remover. That is pretty present in 2008, I was a bit dissapointed considering the hype. Of course you can let it breathe for a while but yet there are other good rums which don't need that extra step, Detente might be an example of Foursquare rum without that acetone smell though I don't like its slightly earthy-bitter flavour.
I went back to 2008 to find the nail polish mentioned and I did get a bit but doesn’t feel like it was as strong as you picked up. Sagacity would be one to try instead of Detente as that goes straight into the alcohol without letting it sit & breathe

Boys not good news for when it lands in the uk as was hoping this release would stay on the shelves a little longer than the last 2. Good to hear you landed a few bottles before they went
@@NewWorldRumClub It has sold out here within days as well here in SoCal. Quickest I have ever seen any release sell. Kind of weird because it's a regular yearly release 12 year
