I just plugged in andcranked up. For my grandpa...missing him all these years later. There's no time limit. I played like I lost him five minutes ago...tears dripping onto the fretboard. Thanks for posting this. It means a lot to me.
This is possibly my all time favorite backing track. I love that I can just crank away for an hour. It's been a life changer for me with respect to playing my Strat.
I remember discovering Funkadelic for myself for the first time. I was blown away by the energy of their music. And then...I've stumbled upon Maggot Brain. Eddie Hazel's guitars on this album, and a piece in question are absolutely unbelievable. It was quite an eye opening experience for me as a guitar player.
I used to do diving some years ago... as soon as you get into the sea you leave everythin behing. Playing to this for over an hour had the same effect for me... Cool track, thank you.
If you haven't checked out the song 'Maggot Brain' you should. One of the most moving guitar songs ever made! Its like the gods made guitar just so Eddie Hazel could one day make that song.
Was planning a jam the other day and suggested Maggot Brain. The other dude said " Great... wail over Em pentatonic for an hour...how boring". Well, it can be that, or, since it comes around so slow, maybe you could open your fucking mind and use it as a vehicle to practice more advanced concepts. This mindset is why people suck at guitar. The sky is the limit with this track: Aeolian, Target Notes, Triads, Arpeggios, Arpeggio Superimpositions. Quit playing the same shit you've been playing since 8th grade people...and all hail to Renzo, the BOSS of backing tracks on UA-cam!
Yo Jeff! Yeah - people are basic! It’s the first year jazz student syndrome - everyone wants to play super fast dense tunes like Cherokee and they are embarrassed to play Cantaloupe island or something… at some point you realize that more chords and faster tempo = more constraints and fewer melodic options (more guardrails). Just ask Miles Davis!
Lol everybody is jamming out to this in their guitars. But, I don’t play guitar, I played this on my bass. With a lot of effects. Thanks for the video, time flies when jamming out to this!
I've been practising this tune on backing tracks of about 10 minutes. On it's own it's a very simple piece of music but it's hard to play interesting for ten minutes. To me it's not about copying Eddie Hazel (I can't anyway) but to come up with my own ideas. Maggot Brain presents a great challenge! I think I will like this one hour backing-track!
I don't think that it's a good idea that anyone listens to that! The purses of practising is practising! Trying things out and repeating endlessly things that you're not good at.
What a better way to end the day! You hop out of the shower with a clear mind and then smoke a joint and jam to this for 1 hour before sleeping. Thank you so much for making this video!
Dude this track is spot on like all of your backing tracksso thanks alot for all the effort you put into this and thanks for all the beautiful hours i spent jaming to your stuffcheers from Germany
Can you PLEASE make more backing tracks in this style like very melodic playing. Or something like Axiom Funk - Pray My Soul Eddie Hazel - From the Bottom of my Soul ( When the solo kicks in) Snowy White - Midnight Blues
... ok, found it and I'm ready, but I have a question about the Aeolian triads. It looks to me like the labels are swapped, CBm and DEm. The triad tones of D are in the scale highlighted as Em and visa versa. But I'm not that good with theory so maybe I have that wrong?
ME AND THIS CAT I MET THROUGH ANOTHER MUSICIAN WOUND UP PLAYING THIS FOR AN HOUR IN FRONT OF HIS HOUSE ON BEACON HILL SEATTLE….POLICE NEVER SHOWED UP…..WE BOTH FELT THE HOLY GHOST DROP DOWN ON US BY THE GOOSE BUMPS!!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The top diagram is the minor pentatonic scale, you can use that for the whole jam track. The bottom diagram shows the triads superimposed in diamond shapes, so if you want you can follow those notes to play a little more melodically.
As all others I played and played on this backing track. Four chords all the time but a very moving song and one of the best guitar songs ever. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to develop our skills! I recorded some improvs, here's one: ua-cam.com/video/IAUhcQvZDaY/v-deo.html

I just realized what guitar is all about after 25 minutes of jamming to this.
Awesome! I love it. Thank you.

This is possibly my all time favorite backing track. I love that I can just crank away for an hour. It's been a life changer for me with respect to playing my Strat.
Awesome!! so glad to hear that
I've just been sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the solo to kick in. Constant build up I love it
You are the soloist ! Sorry it took me 5 years to get this message to you. Get after it man.
@@robertangels4261 5 years was worth the wait my friend
im glad you found a purpose for this
Thankfully this video still exists on UA-cam and is an hour long. I tend to lose myself in a jam like this. Thanks. 😊
Glad you enjoy it!
This one video has been more helpful and beneficial than any guitar lesson on youtube.
Wow, that might be the best compliment I’ve gotten this year!
If you're not jamming to this during quarantine you're doing something wrong
That’s a good one if you got a little time on your hands!

Yeah! The tone and the expression is really amazing. That wah though....
We used to put it on during my friend's radio show and, since it was so long, we'd leave it playing while we smoked joints on the roof. Good times!
@@nowyoushred This is how you do radio.... I have a radio show and, as far as I'm concerned, that's the exact reason band's even made such long tracks

awesome man. That inspired me to try it too. It's amazing what your mind is capable of if you just let it go for a while!

If you haven't checked out the song 'Maggot Brain' you should. One of the most moving guitar songs ever made! Its like the gods made guitar just so Eddie Hazel could one day make that song.
This is fantastic. I think I've never felt the weight of the world as much as I do after jamming to this beautiful track.
Awesome! Thanks for jamming!
what a joy, fun, simple helpful visuals, the music is pure magic. we don't know how lucky we are sometimes. thank you very much, very kind
Thank you very much for noticing all that. And I totally agree.
Thanks for making it just an hour cuz I gotta get to work!!! What a blast!
Lol anytime bro!

I hope you do! You just have to settle in and really get creative. Forget about all the rest of the bullshit, you know...
By now I've practised it three times the full hour! It's even better than I thought!
ha! awesome! Now the REAL challenge, get so good that someone actually wants to LISTEN for a whole hour.
of course, I'm not sure if even Eddie Hazel is capable of that!

Can you PLEASE make more backing tracks in this style like very melodic playing.
Or something like
Axiom Funk - Pray My Soul
Eddie Hazel - From the Bottom of my Soul ( When the solo kicks in)
Snowy White - Midnight Blues
these songs are amazing
Thats why i told him to make more melodic tracks like this
YES! I put them on the list. Sorry this took a while
Still be coming back to this one
.... hang on, gotta find my wah

Hey Steve, the chords look correct from here anyway - they change a 1/2 of a beat early on purpose, but they should be relatively in time for you.
ahhhh, I just figured it out - the diamonds are the triads!
This doesnt get more perfect idk what you hear wrong
Cannot thank you enough for this!
You're welcome, so fun right?
Thank You So Much ForThis! I Love It For Noodling!

Hey Josh! Sorry? Also, did you hear the charango? it's there...
I’ve never done drugs but if I did this would be the first song I listen to
And that would be an excellent choice of aural augmentation! 🧞♀️🧞♂️🧚🏻♂️💃🏻🦋🌈🔥🌟✨
Thank you so much
thanks
More of this

🎸😀💥👋🏻
I need the 10 hours version of this.
I would do it if my Internet was about 20 times faster.
Use Audacity, cut and paste and you can make it 2 weeks long.
my poor neighbors
Sorry 😮😁
Is it ok to use this backing track in a video a made? It's mostly private for friends/ family
what modes work over these chords?
E Aeolian
was gonna try some funkier sounds - like dorian maybe? not sure which chords to play it over@@nowyoushred
How do you read this? I'm a bit confused, I'm used to tabs.
The top diagram is the minor pentatonic scale, you can use that for the whole jam track. The bottom diagram shows the triads superimposed in diamond shapes, so if you want you can follow those notes to play a little more melodically.
Its a scale chart, just play a lead using those notes, you can do anything, just jam. The "R" is the root note.
If you want to play to it at the proper BPM of the original song
play the vid at 1.25x speed
You're welcome
Good idea
Me and my friend played through this whole thing and completely lost track of time. We probably would've gone for a few more hours if it didn't end
Amazing!
Rip Eddie Hazel
