    What a cast - it's so so sad that before 1983 was over, (and in 1984 too) so many of them were gone forever, and the show never ever recovered.

    • @bethshields4903

      No it didn’t recover. Some reasonable storylines through the 80s, but after that, it really wasn’t worth watching in my opinion anyway.

    Sad news today as we hear the great Johnny Briggs has sadly passed away. Johnny the Iconic, legendary Michael Vernon Baldwin who was involved in the greatest Corrie story of all, the Mike, Ken, Deirdre love triangle which thanks to these videos us die hard fans are able to watch over and over again. Johnny Briggs RIP.

      @glamdolly30 2 роки тому +9

      @@masterknife8423 Are you joking? Mike Baldwin was a wonderful character! He hit the ground running in 1976, and thanks to the talent of actor Johnny Briggs, arrived as a fully-formed, complex and totally believable character. In Johnny Briggs' hands, Mike Baldwin remained authentic throughout his 30 years on the show.
      Producer Bill Podmore also arrived as new producer that year to shake up the soap, and he immediately decided it needed a big Southern character to shake up the cobbled streets, inject some dynamism, and to represent all the Southern viewers at home. He saw Johnny Briggs on rival teatime soap 'Crossroads' and immediately recognised he fit the bill perfectly for the role of the new, suave London factory boss.
      Johnny Briggs could have made Mike a one-dimensional caricature - the hard-nosed, Cockney capitalist businessman. But in his first year alone he brought light and shade to Mike and made him real. To maintain that standard of performance and characterisation over three decades is a remarkable achievement for an actor - all credit to the late, great Johnny Briggs.
      I had to smile when I read that there may not have been quite so much acting required in his angry scenes with Bill Roache, who played Mike's arch enemy Ken Barlow - apparently the two men didn't get on in real life!

    • @bethshields4903

      Mike Baldwin was a marvellous character, very important to the storylines. Wouldn’t have been the same without him. I’m sure all of us die hard corrie fans would agree.

    This is the year I was born, 7 my months time, July 14th 1983 in London, 2 years later, Eastenders is on its way, I’ve got an autograph Helen plays Gail, but I lost it, 🥲🥲, I met her at the Premier of Phantom of the Oprea movie in London Leicester Square in 2004, Ken sits, does not suite him, lol 🤪😂😈, I can imagine Ken nearly the same as Uncle Albert now, the two old men be moaning about nonsense, but Ken will be Ken lol 🤪😂😈 if you know what I mean, I know the actor I think had stroke and died the next year in 1984 and the guy who played Stanley had a stroke and died in 1984, sad, 😢
    I’ve been to Manchester in 1994 and I have not been there since 1994, I will be going back there soon.

    I remember that old City of Salford logo on Eddie's bin wagon in the late 1980s as a little kid
    They had them on the local school signs around Worsley, where we lived
    The wheelie bins came in around 1988, we used to hide in them when they were delivered and unused
    It's been years since I've been in the area

    1:28:45 I, didn't realise that Len hadn't paid Bryan for the service on Lens van either. Bang out of order. First time I ever saw Len in Corrie he made my skin crawl. Even before all the tabloid problems he caused other members off screen and then the swimming pool incident (off screen). I, just saw him walking around with half his shirt buttons undone, thinking he is Gods gift to women and laughing at him. Vile individual. Died alone, aged 72, of stomach cancer in 2006 as far as I am aware.
