I wish ITV 3 puts the old 60's episodes from the beginning on - if they did this, they would have huge ratings. The reason I say this, is because Corrie is thought of as an 'Old Friend'.
If Corrie is going to celebrate it's 70th Anniversary, what is needed to do achieve this is to get a proper strict Producer, get rid of half it's cast, get rid of half an hour per week and new writers. If this does not happens, it would end up like Crossroads.

Yep I’d be very interested in watching that myself, I’m not sure if they’ve got all the tape - wasn’t there rumours it had been destroyed in a fire!? I might be wrong. I had a free trial on Brit Box and you were able to watch 1 episode from each year which tbh.. isn’t great lol! 🤷‍♀️

2022 they’re saddled with writers who think they’re writing a pantomime and ‘actors’ who act like they’re in one. It’s dreadful.

I love the character of Alma played by Amanda Barry.
Shes such an attractive lady & can remember her in the old
    Carry On films!
The glamourous " it " girls in the Carry On films, apart from Barbara Windsor was Amanda Barry & Fenella Fielding.
I hope Amanda stays in the street now for a good while longer, i think her role of Alma is a good one & can be developed really well

I went to the Granda Television Tour when I was in England, in 1990. Granada don't just produce Corrie, they have an interior Parliament set that production companies use; they have Baker Street with 221B Sherlock Holmes flat / street, and of course, Coronation Street!
The street exterior set in those days was 2/3rds scale and they used wide angle lenses on the cameras to make it look bigger.
The houses you see in the street are only one storey, no upper level,, and are used as costume and lighting stores; and back then, the writers of the show had their offices in some of the houses.
The Rovers, is a time/space warp in reality:
The "Select" function room just couldn't have existed - it would have been on the road. But we ignored that, lol.
And why did we NEVER see anyone's front rooms?
At the end of the street, behind the viaduct, is a huge sound stage where all the interiors were filmed, they filmed the exteriors in the Street on Mondays (hence continuity errors from exterior to exterior and visa-versa.)
I paid £25 (which was a lot in 1990) to do this video. My brother and I went into a bluescreen/ chromakey set and leaned on a "bar".
There were the lines we had to say printed on a giant board that kept eyeline in-tact, and when the light came on, you said the line.
Unfortunately, we couldn't hear the other pre-recorded actors, and so we had no context to what we were saying, so it does sound a bit flat and disjointed.
But this was the result and to this day, we're lucky to have experienced Television history.

Thank you for posting the classic years. I have downloaded 1976-1995. I thought I’d start with 1989 and see Alan Bradley. I just couldn’t get into the episodes of early 2022 and went back to the past. The theme song is better. I did eventually manage to watch February - December 2022. It was crazy! From nothing happening, it was suddenly very busy and my goodness! A forty year old woman off her trolley on booze and drugs is unaware she’s pregnant and next thing, a baby! Now they are essentially repeating the Richard Hillman years by featuring Audrey’s son as a killer who has actually stolen all the equity in her property. Audrey was once the critical thinker and now ? ? I don’t know. I can’t watch one episode at a time. I’ll go back to it after the year has ended and back track. Meanwhile, all these little beauties from the past. They’re rippers! ❤

@@EveHenleySpreadEve, Thank you again for the uploads. I watched from 1989 to the end of 1996 which is what I was up to to after having seen 1997, 1998, 1999 earlier this year. At the beginning of April I went back to 1976 and have smashed through the years to 1989. You were so right. I adored the seventies and eighties (my childhood years) and agree that the turning point was 1983/84. My absolute favourite is Elsie Tanner. I was sitting there wondering who the magnetic redhead was and there you go! It’s been very interesting observing the culture of Northern England in those days when people just walked into each others houses without knocking. Seeing Deidre walking at night when the real Yorkshire Ripper was on the loose in 1977 chilled me. I’ve downloaded 1960-76 and will go back to the beginning soon. I have enjoyed learning about the breweries selling pubs that previously had long term tenants and managers. Thank you so much. What a legend is Elsie Tanner ❤ I am an Australian who has been residing in Italy for two and a half years. These uploads may have saved my life. The diversion from what’s going on in the world and nostalgia is just beautiful. Eve, 🙏

What kind of a mother thinks “having” to spend her days raising her children would throw her into a depression?!?
And sorry, when you have kids “your own life “ takes a back seat. It’s not a burden it’s a blessing. Being self focused and self obsessed won’t bring happiness (obviously, look at how miserable she is) . It’s quite the opposite, focusing on others and doing selfless things for people you love IS happiness. Sad that some people never learn that lesson.
Family and people you love are EVERYTHING. Money, career, material things don’t make you happy.
And since when is jumping when your boss snaps, punching a time clock to make fries for truckers some kind of “independence”?!?! It’s so dumb I don’t know how a whole generation (or two) fell for it. Well, women do love a trend

Coronation Street should have been retired at the end of 1985
It would have had a 25 year run
    Something to be proud of
I've watched some of the late 80s but can't watch anymore its just pure rubbish 🥱😴
