Şerif Cırık, (1939-2002), was an aşık, the Turkish equivalent to a bard, people who master the bağlama, as well as olden repertoires of folk music and poetry which they contribute to by adding to it themselves. In this, Cırık’s style was a direct continuation of the traditional forms of Anatolian Turkish music and poetry, often rooted in the heartlands of Cappadocia and neighbouring regions, with strong influences and overlaps with Alevism.
The arrangement consists of a bağlama, a kopuz, a bendhir drum and a mey/duduk. The melody is in the makam (mode) of Bayat, the most commonly used mode, traditionally, in Middle-Eastern music, which is the same as the Western Aeolian mode, but with a microtonal second and sixth intervals. In addition to the makam aspect, I’ve added to the arrangement a harmonic chord progression from the Western system to exemplify the usual style of arrangement found in Turkey during the composer’s life, where Turkish music retained a strong loyalty to its roots while enriching it with harmonics and chords from the Western tradition, something completely lacking in the Eastern traditions, a marriage that works exceptionally well.

In the past, because there was no infrastructure and roads in Central Anatolia, people used to travel between the mountains and the hills. Therefore, many people were also persecuted by the bandits(they were called harâmî or chete). This is why,it was difficult for Central Anatolian people to return when they left their homeland and loved ones once and this is why folk songs from this region are very depressing and sad.

Hi, do you make your music by recording live instruments or do you use a program?
I would like to make my own folk music, but I don't own all of the instruments and I've heard these digital compositions (like Celtic forest music or something like that) that sound very robotic/metallic and not natural at all like your music does. Also, I'm not from a musical background, so I might miss something obvious.

Definitely mostly live instruments; I occasionally use VSTs for instruments I don’t have but I’ll always mix those in the back and I never rely on them other than as support to fill the soundscape, otherwise as you said it won’t sound natural :)

I lack the cultural context, I can't understand what the song is about (even with translation), yet I love the sound of turkish music.
We Turks have a different understanding of the world than other people. This Anatolian folk song belongs to an artist who is loved by our people. In order to fully understand Anatolian melodies, it is necessary to be born and grow up in this culture in these lands. Despite everything, if you like this kind of folk music, brother, I can recommend you many.
It is the expression of marginalization, the acceptance of exclusion that does not involve rebellion, blended with the Alevi-Bektashi culture and the oral minstrel tradition.

I live in Denmark, and i been trying to get one for months for a reasonable price.
I Bought one from the company "Thomann" in Germany. but it was too small and a string was sprung when i got it.
Saz for all string insturmant in turkish it is Bağlama kind of Saz. in general yes people call it saz but but if u search as Bağlama u can buy correct insturmant but baglama has type small, short, long etc i guess u look as ''classic baglama'' u can find that insturmant.
This one is a Kopuz saz, but if it’s a bağlama saz you’re looking for I recommend Sala Muzik :)

The grammar of Indo European languages includes the use of CASES. One such case is GENITIVE, in Persian EZAFE. As such in writing CESME SIYAHIM there is no need to use a hyphen.
Loanwoards don’t answer to the rules of their original tongue when they’re used in another language. Just because we use the term orchestra in English doesn’t mean we also inflect it with the gramatical rules of Ancient Greek cases.
In the case of this video title, the title is Turkish, so the grammatical rules applied are Turkish :)
