I snell exclusively for this rig. Even if you get caught out of position or a fish takes it before you even engage your reel, just lean into the fish with a snell and your good to go. I used to tie palomar on this rig and it did fail me multiple times. I use the palomar for almost everything else though.

I prefer Palomar more too....but twice the bites man, due to something that the fish don't see, taste, or feel. That seems far fetched.

I think it depends on the sinker weight, if using larger weights you run the risk of blowing the fishes lips open. As far as which not is stronger the knot test videos ranked it snell then Palomar then uni. The uni knott they tested was single line.

Can I use Palomar knot in fluorocarbon?

Njord Fishing Channel Yes. You might want to watch this quick video first. It will explain to you how to avoid the common mistakes that weaken your line when tying that knot on fluoro. www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1466761-why-your-palomar-knot-fails

Dont try to flip and pitch with fluro and tie the palomar knot. It will be snap snap snap if you do.

I've been told this but I've also learned as long as you wet the line thoroughly and baby the cinch there's no problems, I fish 19 lb fluoro on 30 lb braid out here in southwest Florida, the areas I fish tend to be heavily veggies yet the fish don't like braid in my experience, guessing because of the visibility, I will say diameter-wise braid is far superior

Im just talking about fluro and the palomar knot.

I am too I use them together all the time with no issues as long as I wet the line before cinching and cinch slowly

TWestOutdoors Fluoro and palomar knots work fine together as long as you don't cross your lines. This video explains it better. www.scout.com/outdoors/wired2fish/story/1466761-why-your-palomar-knot-fails-on-fluoro

palomar works, but.... snell is king.

I think its personal preference, but honestly the bass are not going to tell the difference. As long as you keep your line from being torn up and hooks sharp, there is really nothing else you can do, but to let things fall into place. Worrying about knots and the little things are probably not going to change the amount or quality of bass you catch by twice the amount just from using a palomar instead of a snell knot. At least no where near the significance of color, line, hook placement and etc, Nice video regardless though

In my experience snells catch fish in situations palomars might not, both are undeniably strong though
