• Painting Business - Ha...
Aired on Australian TV, These Meat and Livestock Association's Australia Day ads are really getting controversial.
The ad opens on a beach, with two indigenous Australians preparing to light up a barbie, before various settlers begin arriving by boat - the First Fleet, the French, the Russians, Chinese, Greeks, Italians - finally ending with a boatload of asylum seekers approaching the shore.
“Hang on. Aren’t we all boat people?” former MasterChef contestant Poh Ling Yeow asks, to cheers from the crowd. Lamb, according to the MLA, is “the most multicultural meat”.
The ad doesn't actually mention Australia Day. More like BBQ day

For me this is the best Australian add ever, esp for Australia day, and lamb. Love the " how long have you been here? ""Ahh, forever? "
As a German, that portrayal of us is very accurate. We are pretty much always drinking.
But you brought your own supplies ... we love ya! (Although my Great Great Grandpappy didn't bring much from Prussia).
As an Australian, so are we.
Kanye probably on your boat now
This was the best aussie day ad they ever came up with.
Error 404: I came on a plane.
This is the Australia we know and fell in love with. Pity the media, government, and racist people from all sides don't want this to happen.
These ads are awesome
More accurate than the curriculum in Australia.
Indeed. The education system in Australia is a sick joke these days.

There was no Australia nor Australians in 1770.

Australia is shit. Mistreated here for 13 years+.
your just hanging around the wrong crowd brother. your entitled to your own thoughts, but, australia is great!
Thanks mate. Yeah, I was born here. I like the friendly people (like you). Hate Mental Health and the AFP for their treatment regimen. Keep happy anyways. #govegan lol
the canadian bit LOL "who's bringing the ice ?"
what canadian bit ?? canada was in the ad ??
That wasn’t the Canadians, that was Shackleton’s British Arctic expedition to the South Pole... they left from Melbourne.
I’m Canadian I love your country ,your people, your culture, Our histories are similar. Isn’t every countries history similar. We’re all migrants In some way.

In my view, I think we should just keep the date, because it was technically the day the nation officially became established and not only that but it’s also when we got our own freedom and independence from Britain and we started to live a new life here and which allowed other countries such as China, Italy, Germany, France, Holland and Serbia to follow behind Great Britain. I know 26 January isn’t perfect but let’s focus on what we’ve got now and work together. As one Australian team together we can make this country. Great if we all set our differences aside and unite under the Australian flag. 🇦🇺 we are all Australian. 🇦🇺 that’s why we’re so so proud to be Australian 🇦🇺

Aussie "independence" was in 1901. But it was just Australia becoming a country rather than a bunch of British colonies. And that was on the 1st of January 1901
@@jordanwardle11 well, that’s true as well, but the reason why we celebrate I believe is that the day we got freedom from the British, because the British didn’t actually land on 26 January, they landed on 18 January
@@Victoryismine200 we are not free from the british. the governor general is a representative of the monarch. and they landed on the 18th, but had to leave as it wasnt suitable
@@jordanwardle11 yeah, but when I say freedom I mean not the actual freedom from the British Monarchy, but we left Britain as convicts and then became free people from being convicts and that’s what I mean by getting our freedom after they were dumped in Australia, they got their own freedom after being convicts. As it says in the song I’m a convict then a free man I became Australian 🇦🇺
@@jordanwardle11 1901 is when all the former British colonies federated to become the Commonwealth of Australia, not the date of Aussie "independence".

Don't change the date. Change the holiday. Officially rename it to "The January 26th Public Holiday" and then let the diehards continue to call it by its old name if they want.
I can guarantee that young people don't care nearly as much as the old, so the problem will sort itself out within a few decades.
Make Jan 26 sorry day, Make Feb 1 Aus Day. Both Public Holidays. Everyone wins

0:40 Apparently it's pretty common for Aboriginals to think that they've always lived in Australia, like they never had to migrate there at one point like everyone else.
In a state of Australia you have to get a licence to use a fishing rod to feed yourself and your family.
I'd recommend reading "Dark Emu", to get a good update on how long Aboriginals have resided on the Australian continent

It wasn't "aboriginal land" as there were no formal laws designating Australia as a "country".... it was simply roamed by mobs of aboriginals that settled in various places.....these mobs were not united and hardly knew each other and spoke different languages. There was no collective noun called "aboriginal people" until modern more advanced countries found Australia. Australia was rife for take over by anyone simply because people could "settle" anywhere they wanted.... there was no "invasion".... there was settlement. Just be glad that is wasn't the Chinese or Indians or malaysians that found it first.
Read Dark Emu. White folk from the early days would routinely describe agricultural features and settlements in their accounts of the indigenous people of Australia.
@@gabbymcnabb perhaps but those accounts don't fully answer the logical problem of law. For Example: how close to a person in a queue would you have to be in order to say that your in a queue?.... could someone just shove in between you and the other person? they could just claim that because there was sufficient space between you and another person that they had a right to be there....virtually anyone could settle in Australia because there were no title or collective peoples that owned the continent.
@@1HiddenSecret The responsibilities and relations between indigenous folk in Australia were detailed in songlines. Families and community members were assigned territories of responsibility for stewardship and harvest. In fact the high court of Australia clearly states that Aboriginal title is real (known as 'native title') "The Court repudiated the notion of absolute sovereignty over Australia to the Crown at the moment of European settlement. The Court held, rather, that native title existed without originating from the Crown."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_title_in_Australia
Again, I strongly recommend reading "Dark Emu", to get a clearer picture of what Aboriginal society looked like before European colonization.
@@gabbymcnabb You are missing the point and mixing up time lines. Future coirts have nothing to do with the past and what happened. A nation is "ein volk ein reich ein führer" not mobs. There was no single "aboriginal society" but Individual Aboriginal tribes they owned nothing no borders or distinctions of what a continent was. Australia has a huge land mass and there were literally 100's of tribes.... We don't live in a world of make believe but the law of the jungle.... Either we take it or someone else will.... don't be a stupid because there are plenty of countries in our region like malaysia and China that don't give a crap about about "aborignals". We are the best thing that ever happened to Aboriginals. Ask yourself this.... do you think that your superior morallity will be given any credence if the Chinese occupied Australia instad and then Invaded Europe later?.... can you convince the Chinese of you superior morality to no kindly invade Europe?.... your morality is for fools...
@@1HiddenSecret Unfortunately, you are working on faulty understandings of Aboriginal society and seem to have no interest in learning otherwise. European colonization of Australia is certainly *not* the best thing that happened to the native peoples. You seem very excited about morality, but please, don't project that on me.
