The issue is they keep doing it. This time they moved an assist to a rebound. A few games ago she got blocked and caused a turnover and that got counted as a rebound. Both of those, and the sudden no-reason fouls for some free throws, all happen in the final 10 seconds when she isn't at the 10-10 mark. IF she actually had teh numbers for real nobody would have a huge issue. She just doesn't have them and they are making it up.

If they would go back to a game before she broke the record, there was a place in the game where Reese went in for a lay up and it was blocked, it never hit the rim or backboard, Reese caught the ball out of bounds and they gave her a rebound for it to make her 10 rebounds for the game!!!!!!!!!!!! Alot of cheating going on with Reese and her stats!!!!!!!!

Wow, I can’t believe how many UA-camrs are talking about this padding Reese’s stats. Reese was 5/17 free throws..that’s 29.4% shooting! Now I think WNBA counted the blocked shot of Reese that she caught back as a rebound but it never hit the backboard or rim.
actually, according to the rules ANY shot that is missed and recovered counts as a rebound. Maybe NBA rules are different. I always thought for it to count as a rebound it has to hit some part of the basket.

A lot of the mistakes happening are just because the W is a minor league. If the stat. people from NCAA or NBA were doing it (or referreeing) this league would be less frustrating. I saw Aja Wilson get two straight bloody noses, on drives to the bucket - no foul. They're terrible.
If a shot is blocked and someone recovers the ball after the block, it is counted as a rebound. Now some scorer gave Reese a rebound from a blocked shot but Reese was out of bounds, that is not a rebound.
As a Sabrina fan I tried to focus on just Sabrina and celebrate the win. However I've never seen an air ball 5 ft from the rim called a rebound.

There are reasons why Points and Assists are considered the hardest and least common double-double for a player to make and are considered the most difficult for a Guard. (See WNBA STATS ) As an FYI Sue Bird never had three consecutive games with a double-double measured by points and assists.
And I might as well throw this in as well, The league has seen just 35 triple-doubles in its 27 seasons, and currently just four in its 28th season and Clark has one, might have been two if Sides has not benched her.
Points and Rebounds are considered the most common and easy combination of a double-double for a forward, (see Angle REESE)
On the other hand Points and Assists are considered the hardest and least common double-double for a player to make and are considered the most difficult for a Guard.
As an FYI, Sue Bird (Point guard) never had three consecutive games with a double-double measured by points and assists.

This "STREAK" is the only way they can keep Reese in the running. She's a post player, she should be getting a lot of rebounds. outside of that, she only has to make 5 baskets to get 10 points. Here's what people should really be noticing. Clark as a guard has more blocks than Reese who is bigger than her and should be shutting down post players. That's embarrassing.
If I recall, the total amount of double doubles this year is around 276 by about 80 different players. Double doubles are not that uncommon. However the actual consecutive streak was over a few games ago. Angel is padding her rebound stats, look at her fg% it's at 41.1%. That pathetic for someone who Camps the rim, most players in the league average around 55-59 fg%.
And to think Wilt Chamberlain had 227 straight double doubles (as well as second place with 220, and third with 133).

TURNOVERS: Where is the turnover rule? I searched the rule book a few times and can't find it. Just thinking about all the TO hung on CC when a dropped pass looked like the TO cause.
Does the WNBA have an official scorer like MLB to review each game and make corrections? If not they need one cause last night they gave Reese a rebound off a block that never left her hand, but tonight in Fever game Nalyssa Smith blocked a shot and Clark recovered it but wasn’t given a rebound.

I posted about this yesterday, apparently they gave her a rebound for the airball she caught at the end of the game, after the game was over. How can you get a rebound when the ball doesn't hit the rim or backboard, doesnt it become just a lob pass if a teammate catches it or a turnover if the opponent does? 🤔
Technically if the player is in shooting motion they going to call it a shot instead of a pass, so it doesn't have to hit anything. It's a dumb rule. I agree with you it should at least hit something

I came to this league as a Caitlin Clark fan. Along the way, I started appreciating Angel Reese’s drive and determination. Started actually rooting for her as well.
But now, the WNBA and ESPN have soured my view of Angel Reese. I view her as a fraud now, and frankly I don’t think it’s her fault for that, but I feel it nonetheless.
The ironic thing about the stat padding is that it is only being caught because of the extra eyes and interest Clark is bringing to the game.
This is going to follow her for her whole career - and that's a shame because she's very good.

Yeah, there have been other questionable instances: Phee purposely fouling her in Lynx game with 20 seconds left; being credited for a rebound off caught block against the Storm even though whistled for being out of bounds; the last few seconds of the Atlanta game where instead of dribbling it out, passed the ball to a begging AR who was then fouled by Tina Charles. A UA-camr has video on second Storm game where he shows they didn’t even put a body on AR until after she got her double-double.

Here is the ultimate test. If you took every team in the WNBA and told them they could take either Reese or Clark onto their team, who would those teams pick? Of course they'd pick the player that is going to have the most positive impact. That is an easy choice.

It's a fluff record. The entire thing is being created. It's never ending stat padding. She had 6/7 layup attempts blocked. She caught two blocked shots of her own for rebounds, cause a brick into the rim of her own. 3 rebounds were on her shots. It's sad. The so-called 10th rebound, was immediately stripped from her and she fouled the player...could have said that's not a rebound as fast as the ball was pulled from her hands.

I watched the whole game and thought that Cardoso outplayed Reese. Cardoso was scoring and blocking as well as running the floor. I mentioned that in a post and was told it was my first time watching a WNBA game? Which I’ve watched a lot of these games this year and one excuse for Reese lazy play (she was almost always the last defender down the floor if she got there at all sometimes) that it was because they were playing back to back games. I told the person that that both teams were playing back to back and there were many more players playing harder than Reese. IMO AR is a selfish player that only cares about her double-double streak and not the team. Caitlin Clark works her azz off to get what she earns. With the WNBA, her coach, her teammates, refs and the media all clouding against her she has to earn everything she gets. There is no question the ROTY belongs to CC and not to AR.
It is doing Reese a huge disservice - it's embarrassing. Why isn't Cardoso in the conversation? The eye test - Cardoso has more skills - but they both are great players, let them play.

On the WNBA site, they have Reese as having 16 rebounds, 1 Assist and 8 points? Not sure what ESPN is doing there.

A triple double is considered a greater accomplishment than a padded double-double, where a player achieves double digits in only two statistical categories unlike Caitlin’s achieving a much higher numbers in 3 categories. Using the analogy of being the only president greater than the rest of the 100 senators, you can think of a player achieving triple-double as setting themselves apart from others who might achieve double-doubles sporadically.
