I know a lot of people are probably suggesting using the grinding dust for Damascus steel but given that it's already pretty fine and not much more than iron powder you'd probably normally use, I'd suggest instead keeping most of the integrity it still has for looks and encase it in resin for scales for a knife or something. I think that would retain more of the shape and texture that would probably get lost by forging it
You should create an adjustable steady rest for your belt sander with s heavy base, adjustable height and throw. You will get much more control over your fullers and bevels rather than trying to free-hand it. It's a beautiful blade, I can't wait to see it finished with a cool grip and guard.
Can I request some additional lighting? You really maintained some straight lines between your Damascus beveled edge and your center serpent material. It's quite the engineering feat.
Props for free handing a fuller in the sword. 😉 That is no easy task, granted it’s a large fuller… but still not easy. I’ll say it really sucks what happened to the tip. Not sure if it has to do with welding threw the forge scale, improper fusion from added filler on top of access nickel, or lack of heat at the tip… may have been something else. But regardless it still looks amazing and can’t wait to see it complete.
it reminds me of a small version of red sonia's sword, the original, in case it's been redone, and I don't know about it. her sword was actually rather cool looking can't say that I've ever seen someone make one either.
As for War Thunder, you're the reason I played World of Tanks for a while! :D But I like War Thunder more. It's a lot of fun. The sword looks great! You can throw the steel dust into a crucible and make crucible steel out of it.
11:45 I wonder if this steel dust can be used for cannister damascus? I assume it's far too impure, but maybe soaking it in flux/ baking out moisture/ some combination or variation of those things could help?
I find distal tapers very impressive to grind. I tried some over the years, but I usually mess up my work. So very well done on the shaping and grinding!
I wonder why the blade is so short?? Did you have a specific length in mind or is it because of the de lamination from the first vid? And i hope you will make a nice scabbard for the sword!! :O Very nice project, the pattern is very pretty :D
This is probably a stupid question since you've said you've tried it, but could you separate it out with a magnet or does it lose its magnetization somehow in this form? I suggested encasing it in resin for scales or something because even if you could make Damascus from it, it probably wouldn't look all that different from regular iron powder canister Damascus.
@@joshclark44 some of the ceramic or aluminum oxides from the belt stick to the steel dust, and almost impossible to completely separate. I’ve even tried to pan out the steel( like gold panning). Not to mention all the steel dust is oxidized. Notice the dust or debris that are collected are glowing red, which means they’re oxidized in a standard environment. Oxidized steel will not weld together. Yes flux helps with Joints but powder in a canister is completely different. Hope this helps
Very impressive! I was just about right with the final weight, I said one and half pounds. Looks great and I look forward to seeing what you do with the handle.
Love how it's coming. Though as for the weight I was hoping around 700 or 750gr with the sword fully assembled based on the blade'slenght, but let's see how it fares once done!

I'd love to see your take on a Roman Gladius, perhaps with an imperial eagle carving or other flourishing?
Beautiful work! It’s been great to see your skill improve after all these years. You should be proud of this piece!

It remind me Gurthang, the black sword of Turin Turambar , one of the greater character of Tolkien. Very nice!
Браво, маэстро! Вы как всегда удивляете своей оригинальностью!👍👍👍
The snake touch is badass
You've got exceptional skills! Thank you for sharing.

Always impressive skills! On a good day, I sometimes can walk and talk simultaneously.
I have never been able to multi-task. I was supposed to be reading while watching this. My mind decided watching this had priority.
Awesome work! You free hand grinding is amazing! You should include a “time spent” on your steps, you make it look too easy!
cant wait to see the final episode in this build! I hope you decide to make a knife out of the filings!
Gorgeous. Love the Damascus and the serpent. You always create beautiful blades but this is just plain awesome.
Already looking awesome! The edges look so cool with the damascus pattern. 😮
amazing workmanship! a true artist with metal!
Coming along beautifully! I cringed when I thought about how much time it must have taken to hand sand it. Better you than me!
Your precision and consistency in grinding that blade is awe inspiring! Great job!
That`s what the sword of Uthred, Serpent`s Breath, should look like!
Can I request some additional lighting?

it reminds me of a small version of red sonia's sword, the original, in case it's been redone, and I don't know about it. her sword was actually rather cool looking can't say that I've ever seen someone make one either.
So amazing blade! Thank you so much for this amazing video ❤
Thats a beautiful blade right there!
Really beautiful pattern. I love it.
You should make a Seax from the dust as a companion to the blade.
This is really freaking cool man!
The work of a Master👏
Absolutely stunning work! Was one of your ancestors named Ulfberht, by any chance? :)
…always a pleasure your art…thank you…
That is a beauty Sir., nice work!
That's a damn good looking blade sir
This is what Uhtred’s sword Serpent’s Breath should have looked like in The Last Kingdom

Incredible work... but what catches my attention, wasn't it tempered?
Good job mister looking good
I would like to see him make a “He-Man” sword 🗡️…”By the power of Greyskull”. 😊
9:28 as a Polish person I always say a bit of Polishing makes everything better... 😆😆😆

Looks great!!
Great work!!
Beautiful....
beautiful. On the next one is it possible to make the snake look like it has scales?
Superb skill!!!
That is turning out to be a beautiful blade. Love watching you work. Have you ever made a Damascus folding pocket knife? Keep up the great work
I find distal tapers very impressive to grind. I tried some over the years, but I usually mess up my work. So very well done on the shaping and grinding!
awesome job!!
I need to get a belt sander for 3D printed stuff
this man's craft is more impressive than his beard.
And his beard is perfect.
Lovely work, even after all the setbacks when beginning it.
I look forward to seeing that lovely blade fitted with a handle.
beautiful
wow its legendary sword
Again, beautiful work on the blade. Will the steel dust be recycled for use as anything?
I see after betraying Eivor, Basim took up the forge.
Cast the steel powder into resin and make the handle for the sword,
I wonder why the blade is so short?? Did you have a specific length in mind or is it because of the de lamination from the first vid? And i hope you will make a nice scabbard for the sword!! :O Very nice project, the pattern is very pretty :D
Could turn the dust into some crucible Damascus!
Love the design of the blade, really sweet!
To difficult to remove ALL the dust created from belt wear. It’s been attempted by many, including myself.

How about a cast-iron bronze Khopesh (20" blade, 7" handle)?
Very Good!!
Very impressive! I was just about right with the final weight, I said one and half pounds. Looks great and I look forward to seeing what you do with the handle.

Great work sir you are awesome ❤️ 😊
I think it's a gorgeous 😍 blade
Beautiful!
I can’t wait to see what you do for the handle.
Very artistic nice work 🎉🎉🎉
I need this to be an epic artifact sword in Skyrim now, and you earn it after either a long questline or end-game forging. It's too beautiful.
