    You probably won’t see this but this video changed my life! I knew my hair liked the LOC method but using water/aloe Vera juice as the liquid and leave in as a cream is a game changer!!! I’ve never seen my hair so shiny, no drying out while styling, no need to reapply products, just wow!! Plus my hair stayed moisturized all week!!

    1. Love everything you said and I agree 100% I am also super high porosity with super thick and long (bsl) kinky hair so this is my routine: A. I always shampoo (never co washed bc I have dermatitis and I need my scalp and hair clean) B. I deep condition every wash day either with protein (color treated hair) or a moisture DC! C. In the winter I use what I call the LOB method- liquid oil butter and the styler will follow. For my liquid I use water or aloe Vera juice and then a water based leave in followed by any oil but I use castor oil or jbco in the winter or if my hair need the heavier oil followed by a thick butter such as shea or mango butter! D. My last tip which is super controversial in the natural hair community, if I’m rocking my wigs which I do during the coldest months I’ll do water then leave in and seal with grease! Yes ma’am! Keeps my hair right under my wings for 2 weeks tops! Never gets dry! Come pay day I’m so going to check out Kinky Tresses! Congrats and thanks for the review 😉

    • @KandidKinks
      @KandidKinks  6 років тому +12

      +Feron Flo you know it’s funny I’ve heard a few people rave about grease ! I think that fact that you shampoo leaves your hair buildup free .. if it ain’t broke don’t fix t right 🤷🏾‍♀️😂😂

    • @The.Whoever
      @The.Whoever 6 років тому +15

      Feron Flo well Damn. This is EXACTLY what I do to my HiPo hair. I use grease on the very ends of my hair but in the summer month I'll take a bit of grease and oil in the palm of my hands, emulsify it and seal with that. I don't pay much attention to these natural hair "community" rules. I don't what works for me. As long as my hair is healthy & retaining moisture & length, I'll do whatever I want to my damn hair.

    • @GoddessFeron
      @GoddessFeron 6 років тому +3

      nikqualuv09 right!!! And that’s so cool we have similar routines! Yeah I had to get over the “rules” and listen to my hair and I’m glad I did! Grease for the win!! My ends are thriving 🤗

    High porosity squad!!! I use aloe vera as a leave in (cold rinse), water based leave in, as i am butter cream and then aloe vera gel. Or a mousse to style....sometimes my shea butter mix especially now for the cold days. My hair is a looser curl pattern. Oil weighs me down. I live for DC..own alot also lol. This video was so freaking awesome.

    First video. Super loved it. Will try your recommendations. Previously I thought I was low porosity, but did yet another test and few days later, my hair is still at the bottom of the cup. I'm now feel like my world has flipped upside down, however it does explain why my hair has not behaved or felt correct in months. I'm talking over 6 months now. Your video left me with hope. I loved the natural, down to earth, realistic vibes you had in the video not to mention the fact that it was packed with information. I instantly subscribed to your channel. Thank you for sharing.... i'd also like to add, most of the high porosity folks on here, don't seem to have 4c hair

    I am Ol' School! I DON'T believe in co-washing, either. The concept of conditioning dirty hair is beyond me! How can you properly moisturize dirty hair and scalp??? You need a fresh palate to build from: Clean scalp, clean hair strands. Only shampoo can cleanse properly.

      So true, I created my own definition of cowashing😀. When my hair is feeling dry and I need a booster, I shampoo once because of less product build up and condition my hair with a hair masque and conditioner.😀

    • @JRCGuitarist
      @JRCGuitarist 4 роки тому +7

      I don’t think cowashing should take the place of washing the hair. It has pros and cons. I think it is really supposed to be done at a certain time. Washing would definitely be necessary.

      Do a prepoo with aloe vera gel (the actual plant) and follow with an oil. Put a shower cap on and leave it for 1 hour or so, then wash and deep condition your hair...every wash day. My high po hair LOVES aloe vera gel. Follow Green Beauty, Curly Chemistry, SheRea DelSol and Selina Zinchuck for ideas on how to care for your hair. it all starts with understanding your hair type etc. Their videos have certainly helped me and now my hair is doing great.

    And I also added a ACV rinse as my finally step after I rinse out the conditioner.
    These 2 steps has helped me and keeping my hair moisturize for Days 💕

    Have wanted to try Kinky Tresses because of the SUPERB porosity video that the owner posted on UA-cam but coconut oil is the ENEMY to my hair and Castor oil makes me scalp itch. Have considered the Avocado repair mask (I think that's what it is), only because Castor oil is around the 7th ingredient in the product, so, hopefully, three isn't that much Castor in it.

    Congrats on your first sponsored vid gal!! Yes!! I'm also a high porosity club member so I'm just grateful I found your channel! I agreed with *everything* you said too. Cowashing to me is like cleaning clothes with just fabric softener. The thing that's ironic about having high porosity hair finding that right moisture balance definitely. My hair soaks up some oil let me tell you! But it has to be applied in a certain manner or it's like no because I do cold rinse my hair in the shower and then let my hair air dry overnight which does seem counter productive but it helps my products sink in doing my l.o.c the next day! This ain't about me though lol Congrats again! Great vid as always and I'll look out for the next one! ☺

    Thanks for sharing your method. I am high porosity and my method is similar. I find that adding the products in sections helps me get the products on all of my hair. I also use a clay wash on my hair instead of co-wash. I shampoo once a month for scalp health. I deep condition after every cleanse (clay or shampoo). I have not tried these products, they appear to work well. All the best to you.

      +Marsheilah yes clay washes are heaven sent! Idk why I just get so lazy to apply them weekly but whenever I use them it’s always a great wash day

    My hair is super super dry. I’m having such a hard time keeping moisture throughout the week. I’m always putting water on my hair throughout the week and moisture. I try a lot of products but nothing has work. I’m going to try the products you use. What products do you recommend for me?

    Hi candid and everyone who's reading this. Im asking this community a question. Im currently doing some research and watching a ton a video. I think so far I'm HIGH POROSITY and also 4c with thick, coarse hair. My hair breaks a lot. My question is, how does one know their hair porosity. I also think I am low because my hair dries so fast. Also, when I do all the test persons suggested, I get different results. The ends of my hair always seem so ROUGHHHHHHHHH ALWAYS. I'm dealing with so much during these times, and now my hair is going could be the at-home 🏡stuff. But if anyone has any suggestions on how. I would love a comment. Thank YOU.

      Kharah_Jay Live yea sounds like high porosity to me. Don’t hold on to those rough ends. It will only lead to more breakage and tangles. Blow dry and give yourself a good trim with hair shears, then follow her steps. All the best

    • @kharahJay
      @kharahJay 3 роки тому

      @@ebubeesiobu9164 thank you so much for responding 🤗🤗🤗. Thank you, I do try to trim it. It seems as if that's just how my ends are?

    • @ebubeesiobu9164
      @ebubeesiobu9164 3 роки тому +2

      Kharah_Jay Live your ends shouldn’t be rough. If it is, you may have lots of split ends or single strand knots. if your hair is long enough, you can look at it and see the problem. Don’t wash your hair too often, wash once a week if you exercise or once in 2 weeks if you don’t. Wash your hair in sections, deep condition with every wash, and reduce how much manipulation you do with styling. I re-moisturize once a week and put my hair in a protective style till the next week. If you use her LOC method, your hair should stay moisturized. Only comb/detangle on damp (not soaking wet) hair using your fingers first then a wide tooth comb. You can add a conditioner to help. All these reduce friction on your ends and will reduce the rough feeling. I’ll suggest keeping a pair of scissors beside you when doing your hair. If you notice a knot or split end, cut it off instead of ripping it apart. Also don’t touch your hair when you are tired, hungry or in a rush. That never ends well. Lol. Those are all the tips I have. Hope it helps

    Are you sure you're high porosity if your hair takes long to dry?

    • @KandidKinks
      @KandidKinks  6 років тому +2

      +Angelina Carmichael yeah it just takes long because it’s so dense and long, when my hair was shorter it dried over night

    • @JM-qg9bo
      @JM-qg9bo 6 років тому +4

      She probably over saturated it while trying to get moisture and liquid in the hair. My hair can take long at times to dry, and I have 100% high porosity hair.

    • @stephaniemorris9143
      @stephaniemorris9143 5 років тому +2

      Ha ha, I was wondering the same thing. I know my HP hair dries fast. But, if you're using lots of product, that can cause it to take longer to dry. Also, the longer you leave in those twists/braids, the better the curl definition.

    • @Jacquiegrace1
      @Jacquiegrace1 5 років тому +1

      Angelina Carmichael I wondered the same thing! My 4C/4B hair is high porosity, and I don't need a towel because it dries so quickly! From what I've seen with others (and this is also true for my shoulder length hair), it's very unusual for hi-po hair to stay moisturized for more than 3 days, regardless of what products or process is used. Many hi-po's have to fully moisturize daily.

    Lexi question, is it possible to take the porosity test and get the wrong results, reason I'm asking is because I wash my hair today put in twist and within 2-3 hours my hair was completely dry without sitting under a dryer but my hair floats for hours.
