I love the idea of making a fully fledged Witcher RPG game, where you could make your own character. Customise your appearance, school, weapon preferences, magic preferences, etc. That would be an incredible game.

@@sabrinakirchner9535 they're currently trying to fix cyberpunk, I could see a new witcher game in around 5 years if they can iron out cyberpunk in thst time.
If CDPR make another Witcher game it would be awesome if you could create your own character, then pick which school you played, and if each had unique bonuses and penalties. So for instance the school of the bear could do more damage with big attacks, but do less damage when using signs. With perhaps the school of the wolf being the most balanced, without any bonuses, but also no penalties.
I thought the same thing. A friend of mine wrote fanfic with School of the Shark specializing in aquatic monsters but I think that's too much. I think 4 or 5 is good. Cat/light, wolf/medium, bear/heavy and griffon/signs, manticore/alchemy and maybe one more that CDPR can come up with.
Funk Cult I really, really hate "create your own characters" they have no soul or personality, idk i just cant explain it... I would like them to pick random mentioned witcher from any school.
Heavy weapons are useful for all those Skellige beasts like trolls and grizzly berserks, not to mention a giant...the chain mail is to compensate for the decreased mobility due to using said heavy weapons. Makes sense.
But weight does not correlate that much with speed.. the balance of the sword does and the swords of witchers were supposed to be masterpieces, so i assume they would not limit the users movements . (BTW if they were supposed to use greatswords - then it doesnt change anything, as still they are not that heavy, 2-3 kilograms while longswords which are much smaller weigh on average 1.4-1.8 kilos. Also if you dont belive me check out italian style of greatsword fighting)
Mysterious Stranger correct. And not just swords; it is surprising how thin the head of a two-handed Dane Axe is and just how nimble a Dane axe is. If the theory that Bear School Witchers sometimes used silver axes, then they still wouldn't be that heavy.
Seems to me that every Witcher-school is built around a certain specialism? Wolves are more overall: a bit of éverything, with every wolf able to lean towards a personal preferance in speciality?. Cats are thé specialist in very fást and lethal physical attacks(Gaetan; the Beast of Honorton? Some good indicating details there). Griffins are more mastered into magical abilities, mostly a vást increase in the effect of Signs. Vipers are more poison and venom base 'killing machines' that first weaken and slow their opponent with bladeoils for instance. The Ursine Witcher is the 'heavily armored, heavy hitter', specialized in going one on one with the bíggest of the monsters: Trolls, Giants, Chorts and Fiends? One or two perfectly and patiently aimed blows to the skull of even the largest of Giants or Fiends, would kill off these juggernauts rather quickly, where for instance a Cat would be dancing circles around it, cutting every major muscle and artery to bleed out the monstrosity? Every witcher-class can take out monsters, small, fast ór hideously huge.. Bears are just best suited for the big ones, Cats and Vipers more for larger packs of quicker ones, Wolves are the overall-best, Griffins dó hang closely towards Bears, regarding their masssive Sign-intensity, allowing Griffins to have equal durability to Bears, due to the Quen-sign being a constant protection? Which Bears would also specialize in? Griffins would rely more on Signs, where Bears are alchemical 'marvels'? Imho the design of the Witcher Lore, especially detailed in TW3, is exquisitely well done!
I don’t know that you can say bears are “slow”. A bear can get running around 30 mph, which is just shy of a wolf’s top speed and faster than an especially athletic cat.
There was once a story of a brown bear that kept pace with a car that was going 40 miles an hour. Not only are they fast, but they're surprisingly stealthy and agile for their size
You are using a house cats top speed. House cats are about the size of a bears paw, of course a bear is gonna be faster. A cat that is of more similar size to a bear is gonna be fast than the bear, a tiger for example, or a cheeta of course.
The Bear is my favorite in terms of armor and combat preference, even if not much is known. Armor is one of the most important factors to keeping your soldiers alive, let alone a knight you've been training for 5+ years. Now imagine your soldier is a super-mutant toxin infused monster that can literally blend people to bits? What's the main weakness to that? -pitchfork crazed peasant hordes come to mind...- Any stray arrow! Archery was enough to disable a limb or pierce an internal organ, any injury is a bad omen. Injuries will always lead to death, even with a healing factor and pain inhibiting potions, opponents won't stop to let you off so easily. When outnumbered, not being able to aggressively fend off the enemy is a death sentence, finding a way to prevent arrows from digging your grave was an utmost necessity in historical medieval warfare. Technically, gambeson is a lot better than it's made out to be but an English longbowman is still gonna put a hole in you, that's why everyone used shields. Witcher's don't use shields. Thus, the most logical step is either mobility to evade arrows, or armor that isn't as flexible but hardly hinders your movement yet can stop an arrow from putting any nasty holes in you. Hypothetically, if a Witcher is on their A-game they should be capable of dodging any missile headed toward them but much like the moto for all Witcher's, it's better to be prepared. For all intents and purposes, the armor is an insurance policy for any moments when they do take damage and we've seen it happen a lot interestingly enough. I wonder if the Bear school armor is rare not only because of the school's mysterious nature, but also the price needed to make the armor both mobile and tough yet retain usefulness against all manner of monsters. The Bear school armor isn't plate armor by any means, however, it seems to be thicker than normal gambeson, reinforced with chain mail and some plate for the arms. Historically and realistically speaking, this wouldn't make you impervious to arrows but it should be enough to prevent an arrow from stopping your adventuring. With the combined speed and reflexes of a Witcher, their techniques, magic, and alchemy make them a force beyond a squad of Knights in my eyes. A Witcher doesn't need plate armor to keep arrows from harming them, they can simply dodge/deflect/Aard anyway. If an arrow does happen to catch them, the armor of the Bear should be adequate in preventing major damage. In my headcanon, I'd like to believe the Bear school Witcher's used silver/steel great swords unlike the rest of their brethren. A greatsword is a magnificent battlefield weapon, increased range and cutting power combined with the strengths of a Witcher could cleave someone in half! Interestingly though, greatswords didn't weigh that much more than their slightly smaller longsword cousins because that would be impractical design, thus, they were as elegant and refined in terms of techniques and even for speed but had far more power to boot. Sure, they're not "as fast" and can be unwieldy in a far tighter environment like city alleys, but that's what hand to hand combat and knives are for. This all combines into what is my favorite Witcher school. They're the ones in the family capable of holding themselves on their own in a battlefield, being the strongest Witchers in terms of physical brawn and power. Magic, potions, petards, and overall flexibility aren't the main focus (not that they ignore it either) but their pure tenacity in swordsmanship and mobile yet protective armor is likely the best among all the schools. If anything, I think the Bear school is at least the most practical compared to the others since a battlefield weapon (like the aforementioned greatsword if they use one) is far better to use against monsters, and armor to keep you alive is far better than armor that doesn't.
Very interesting. Though you've underestimated the biggest con (and in my opinion, an absolute dealbreaker) of the Bear school greatly: _speed._ Speed is a crucial factor in any combat situation. Half a second delay can be the difference between life and death. Not just attacking but defending (or fleeing) as well. So I can imagine a Cat witcher killing a Bear witcher with a quick strike to the head. Or any agile monster attacking the Bear witcher for that matter. Besides, ever noticed how agile monsters or even wraiths in TW3 dodge strong attacks effortlessly? The Bear has a major disadvantage: the lack of speed. Which is not just important, nay, but fundamentally crucial. The Bear school doesn't seem practical at all, too slow because of heavy armor/strong attacks and I imagine too noisy in situations that require stealth (because of all that heavy equipment). I have to admit I might be biased since the Manticore school is my absolute favorite. The Manticore buff to alchemy and bombs seems life-saving and extremely powerful. Alchemy and bombs can be usefully applied in any situation, be it attacking or defending. Potions and bombs saved my life in TW3 more than I can count. So if there's any school that's 'the most practical', then it must be the Manticore school in my opinion. Important sidenote: plus the Manticore armor looks hot af making it extremely practical for seducing sorceresses as well. Wink wink. Seriously though, strong attacks - the Bear's specialty - aren't nearly as useful and effective as quick fast attacks in the Witcher world. Certainly not in the game. Can't imagine irl to be any different unless you're facing an extremely slow opponent or foe. So yeah, all things considered I have to strongly disagree with your statement about the Bear school being the most practical of all the schools. I mean c'mon. Let's be real!
Terry Merry Armor doesn't affect speed. It simply forces you to tire slightly easier. On a superhuman with enhanced endurance, there practically is no downside, though I must say as a HEMA practitioner I love the idea put forward by the OP that these Witchers would use greatswords; I always found that to be the most viable of options in fighting monsters and multiple opponents, not to mention very good against humans one on one. Again though, "speed" is only downplayed in heavy armor in this game for balance purposes.
Jacob St.Clair I can't speak for new Recruit, but there is a type of two-handed axe that would seem perfectly suited for a Bear-School Witcher: a Dane Axe. Two-Handed and incredibly powerful (can chop clean through thick leather and can even burst through riveted chain mail), and it is thinner, faster, and far more nimble than most people think it is. Throwing axes would also make a great supplementary weapon, though one would probably have to decide between bringing a crossbow and bringing throwing axes.
Great swords does not work, basically because of It's Weight, when you swing the sword There would be a Very strong pull force that, even for a nonhuman, could put youn almost to the floor, and you cant accelerate It because its heavy so you would have to trust in atacks only downwards with the sowords own mass force.
I think a witcher mmo would be pretty cool, you could make a character and choose your school, go through the trials (the tutorial) and eventually set you free in to the world to set out on the Path
Terry Merry I’d like to say I’d be cat school or wolf school, but I know I’ll find something cool about the ursine school and play that, I play the tank in literally any game I can, it’s even become a running joke with one of my friends, every time I try to get away from it I find another thing I find really cool in another tank character or class
I like the idea, but not as an MMO. I think a single-player or maybe local/online multiplayer would be better. But yeah; I would definitely choose Bear School.
When you say mmo I'm assuming you mean free to play. Free to play mmo now means microtransactions to keep up with maintenance from being freemium. F2P MMORPG has a big chance to be a death sentence for games/companies one way or another if they don't sell themselves out to investors and I don't really want CDPR to go down that route (I'm pretty sure they don't either). Even cyberpunk 2077 isn't mmo iirc. I pay for games for the creativity, to have fun and immerse myself in deep stories and worlds. I shouldn't and won't hand money over to people for items that will make the grind that they intentionally designed into the game easier, or for cosmetics that don't mean anything compared to them caring about making a quality storyline and overall game. That's usually where mmos end up because it needs time and money to push out quality content and if they're not on a subscription, people's attention spans are to small to sit idle for the 3 to 6 months it takes to deliver an expansion that takes people 2 hours to finish. They need cash flow from somewhere regularly maintainable to pay for that 3 to 6 month work towards a final product. It's a shit show honestly and it's why games suck now. Companies that invest in gaming take creative control away in order to make money on microtransactions before the game inevitably kills itself because it isn't sustainable. I'd rather CDPR stay kind of like an "author" of games rather than a company trying to make a business out of gaming if that makes sense.
Haern Caduch or Bear Keep, was a seat of the witcher School of the Bear. Built on the snowy heights of the Amell Mountains, it served the Bears until they were forced to abandon it due to folk riots. The Amell mountains seperates the Northern Kingdoms from the Nilfgaardian Empire.
The Witcher school of the bear would fight with the speed and velocity of a Highlander max level in For Honor just much faster and more tactical skills the s*** those guys do is Greatsword holy f*** man
As a bear school build, I might even use an axe or one of those mostly unknown Touissant warhammers as a steel weapon. It just fits the bill a lot more, doesn’t it..?
What I would love to see is a Witcher game where you create your own character and can pick which school to have been trained in and have differing story lines due to that, this would also give heaps of customisation options. The school of the Cat could specialise in using throwing knives, daggers, short swords & cross bows as well as additional strength against humans while not being as strong against monsters. More than happy to pick fights for sport, particularly with humans, due to which the other schools do not like them. The school of the Viper could be of a similar build to the school of the cat with more focus on offensive magic/alchemy (e.g. bombs) while also being stronger against royal guards and monsters than the Cats. Do not forge relationships with Kings & Emperors easily and are easily manipulated. The school of the Manticore could specialise in Alchemy. Would also have slightly better magic than most of the other schools while being much weaker in direct armed combat. Also specialise in luring & killing monsters with traps. Good relationship with most of the schools, with the exception of the Cats but have particularly good relationships with the Wolves. The school of the Bear could specialise in heavy weaponry. Large two-handed axes, heavy armour, heavy cross bows and have a rage mode. Known to be overly violent and do not forge or maintain relationships well unless in Skellige. Poor level of alchemy as healing oils & potions are not necessary very often due to their armour. The school of the Griffin are magic specialists. Particularly strong against Griffins & Dragons and easily form relationships with people of importance, much more diplomatic than the other schools but do not get on well with mages. Not as proficient in armed combat against humans as they are against larger monsters and do not care for offensive alchemy & explosives due to their strength with magic. The school of the Wolf, general all rounders but extremely strong when it comes to tracking down anything human or beast and fighting monsters of all shapes and sizes. Specialise in combat with medium length swords, but also proficient with small axes and bows. Average alchemy, average magic and have a severe distaste for the Cats and to a lesser degree, the Vipers. Now that I've sat here for an hour thinking about this, I really want this game hahaha
Matt Norris That’s really interesting! Although I would go for more of a fluid class system with those baselines. Other than that, I would maybe set the next Witcher game in the future of the world, now ruled by Nilfgaard and once again ravaged by the dangers of a conjunction. Maybe with new monsters (from all of the games and books). And a new Witcher school. Maybe bearing the name of the dragon. With a new trial of the grasses (higher success rate, but only a few of the subjects become fully fledged, way more powerful Witchers than ever before).
I also really want to believe that they will make an RPG set at a different time that allows you to create a character, and it's really likely because if you look at the prototype they had for the first game that's originally what it was.
The Bear Keep was in the Amell Mountains, iirc the Bear School witchers went A LOT to Skellige because of the similar mentality the islanders and the bear witchers shared.
Interestingly enough, the Griffin armor should probably be the most durable armour given that the entire set (at least at later levels) is comprised of plate and mail. But that would lead to balancing problems, as Griffin already has some of the highest attack power.
does feel a little weird that CDPR didnt make a back story for the school of the bear, seems like a missed opportunity to me especially because they fleshed out the Svalblods which are all about turning in to bears. Good Vid
These videos are awesome man, I have always been very interested in the lore of the Witcher universe, but never got around to investigating things further. Great videos, and the quality is surprisingly good for someone with sub 1000 subscribers! Keep up the good work dude!
Yeah, this really annoyed me as well.. It's literally said soooo many times in the Witcher 3, that I still remember how it's pronounced even though I haven't played the game in a few years.
My first and only witcher game is witcher 3. I bought it after a friend of mine told me i would like it, because i liked skyrim so much. So i have played it for a while now. Have almost 70hrs in the game and i have not even went to skellige yet:D but i have watched almost every lore video of yours and tried to learn as much as possible of the lore. And if i would have to choose a favorite school it would be wolf just because I love the armor and fightning style. And umm sorry for the long response and for all the misspelled words, english is not my native tongue! Thanks and keep up the good work!!
I'm pretty new to the witcher series/universe and started playing witcher 3 a few months back. I haven't finished the main story yet coz I'm holding back until I complete all the DLCs first then return to killing Eredin... So far, the witcher school that interests me the most is the school of the Wolf coz it's Geralt's school and being new, it made me wanna know more about it. As for the equipment though, I'm kinda running a mixed set. 3 pcs Ursine(Chest, both swords) and 3 pcs cat(boots, gloves, trousers and crossbow) for a good balance of defense and attack + the mutation I chose was Euphoria coz it buffs both sword and sign damage at the same time.
@@xnadegod1053 berserker means "bear shirt" in old norse, they wore bear hides and were said to take on the raw strength of a bear. Also the Norse had pet bears they called house bears.

Badass is one word for them
The witcher has so much m lore in the books and added into the games, they can still make more games in the future as long as they keep their bearings expanding on the story like they did in the witcher 3. Great videos!
Personally the school of the bear is my favorite, I model a lot of my characters in other games after them, plus the bear is my totem. Love my bear paw medallion to death even more now.
I'm torn between cat and viper (Wolf is cool too) but since I was born a girl, I probably wouldn't get much choice, my best (or only) option being the school of cat
a lot of the times when i watch these videos I get caught up in the contract or quest in the background and a few minutes later I'm like wait wtf is he talking about. Even after having done every one of them near 4 times, I still get immersed and never tired of it
A Witcher from a Bear School as a main protagonist... This would be a tale of a man who seeks balance, comfort and solitude in life. From the story that CDProject presented us in the game it simply matches those ideals. I would picture a perfect Witcher from this school as following: - Strength and confidence - Standing against adversity; taking action and leadership - Necessity for healing or using healing abilities to help self or others ( They are a "Tank" type of witcher, so they are those who recieve heavy blows) - Emphasizes the importance of solitude, quiet time, rest (As stated at the begining) - Strong grounding forces (Quen would be their go to sign, possibly Yrden too) - Stoicism and moral compass of Epic proportions
a good way to put it would be all Witchers have the same standard powers and each school specializes in a specific sub class of fighting, so bear would be heavy specialists, wolf medium, etc. Also by far the best witcher lore series on youtube thank you for taking the time to make these and actually doing them well and being clear you're already a huge leg up to other lore channels so keep up the great work
For the next witcher game they should make it so that you can design your own witcher and choose what school they come from with different perks depending on what one and also have it be less story focused and more on just being witcher
when i first found these new witcher armours my first thought was that they werent exacly from different schools but that they were just custom armours for specifc members from the school we know
bear school is a very strong combo because its also tied into quen buffs at grandmaster... with quen you can literally just go in for a heavy attack crit and take a counter attack and just fall back. its a weird playstyle but def a very very strong one for massive dmg.
Considering the bear school gear is meant to be tanky and heavy the set should have a head piece, such as a helmet which functions like the various masks. Equipable with one of side slots
Subbed yesterday and I'm totally hooked on your vids. I've became a fan of the witcher series after I played the wild hunt. After that I have played the witcher 2 and now I'm reading the books and playing the witcher 1. You got to keep up the good work, I really enjoy your videos.
I guess you are right when it comes to witchers using heavy weapons. I guess they ought to have used larger silver swords as well as silver bladed polearms or axes.
I am doubtful of the dragon part, just as I am with witcher George, as doing a bit of research, from both books and games, witcher George slayed a cockatrice, and the other probably slayed a draconid, as not alot of people, even witchers, distinguish the difference between dragons and draconids, same sense with TRUE higher vampires and regular vampires.
I havent learned much about the other schools but I know the school of the cat were like assassins and I've always enjoyed that character archetype plus... I love cats
A thought occurs: as I'm building a berserker deck in gwent I realize all of the bear school witchers are under skellige heres the thing we have no clue if they were actually from there and no proof. However the simpler solution is that if they truly seek the bezerker curse intentionally where better than skellige to do that? Many bear school witchers likely traveled there as the last part of training, and as such became heavily associated with the isles.
I remember hunting down pieces of the Bear set, led me to a decrepit castle on top of a mountain in Skellige that I had to climb the mountain to get into. Eventually had to go into a couple holes in the ground leading to the bottom of the castle, got the Bear piece in the throne room down there, but I was trapped there. The only way out was to switch a lever in the back of the throne room to get out but it was like the only part of the entire game that glitched for me. The door lever didn't worked......restarted from my last save point a couple times, double checked guides online, but the door glitch always remained. Had to give up on School of the Bear at that point. No worries though, School of the Cat gear is best route anyways.
My problem with the ursine armour is that it barely looks "heavy". No steel plates and barely any mail, it looks like a slightly upgraded gambison. The Griffin set looks way more protective, imo it's the only witcher set that seems to be actual armour (from a historical point of view).
Man... It sounds like we are hearing about humans back in the day and the normal prosecution of the new and unknown 🤔 thanks for one more amazing video George 😎🤟🏻 like myself another Witcher from the school of the Griffin 💪🏻
I noticed that in Witcher 3, when searching for Witcher stashes for diagrams and stuff, Griffin, Wolf and Cat mark their places with a distinct animal marking to let you know you're close to one of their stashes - BUT for the Ursine diagrams there is never any marking like that, never have I seen a bear marking anywhere.
Love this damn game story legendary site quests legendary (even when game crashes over 10 times in a couplse quests) one of the BEST games i played. Nice video btw like the story of the school of the bear like all of the schools bear, wolf, grffin, cat, viper, etc . Very nice.
Imagine a Witcher mmo similar to the elder scrolls online that would be a cool idea people could make their own Witcher and pick their school as somewhat of a class system
just reading comments and i just suddenly got this thought: why only swords? for example against golems? and maybe those gargoyles? and maybe some insectoids with thick armor that a sword would have a hard time cutting/or piercing through.....I think that maybe a warhammer/axe would be more effective for certain things, and maybe spears as well.....maybe im stretching it tho
You missed juhod of belhaven, he was a bear school witcher who went to toussaint to get grandmaster witcher gear, took a contract on some creatures causing houses to collapse, was vastly unprepared snd didnt know what he was up against, and died in the caves the creatures were using
CD Projekt Red needed to weave in three different playstyles (fast with light armor and an emphasis on signs as well as stamina regeneration, medium as a sort of jack-of-all trades and master-of-none, and heavy with a strong emphasis on simply ploughing through your enemies (and romances) while tanking damage) and basically needed to create a Witcher School according to each playstyle. The only Witcher Schools actually canon are the School of the Wolf and School of the Cat. All the others are either only mentioned in graphic novels or only in the games themselves.
I remember finding the entire armour tier 3 armour set by accident in one random drowner cave recently so I took it as a sign and started pursuing the rest of the schematics for them (I usually ran the cat gear set)
It's a shame the witcher designers didn't make the game where we can rebuild the witcher schools as we go and teach and train new witchers, I think it was a wasted opportunity, still a great game either way, maybe in a future update or remake and remaster.
Nice video. I always wondered if the initial part of Gerd's story is true. Whether he really sided with a usurper and committed many crimes. It may be true. But the victors write the histories. It may be that the countess was actually the usurper, leading Gerd to insult her and side with her dad, and having won the day, besmirched her father's name and sentenced the Witcher to death as a witness to her crimes. Either way it's cool, nice that we're left to wonder. Thematically it would be cool if the Bear school were from Skellige. With Gerd's story, it's hard to tell if he's from North of Redania (near Arcsea) and fled to Skellige, or if he's from the islands and went back home to flee the countess's vengeance. At least the crossbow story suggests that weapon was not common in Skellige. Though of course witchers almost certainly shared weapons and techniques between schools.
Id like to point to some evidence of the bear school being from skellige is that the fist fighting tourney in skellige was founded in honour of Duns Ursus, who fought monsters with his bare hands, ursus is too similar sounding to ursine for it to be a coincidence and who else but a witcher could fight monster with there fists, the ursine armor set has pretty spiked looking gauntlets
Man I love pretty much every set of armor in the Witcher 3, I think I left the game with Tesham Mutna from blood and wine. Gonna have to reinstall this soon
@pen pen Because he spared him. Unless the witchers were holding back like Geralt, I don't see how they would've been taken down by peasants. Especially bear witchers who would just spam an extremely powerful Quen while fighting.
Awesome video mate! I seem to learn more watching these than I do actually playing the game, sometimes lol! What armour is your Geralt wearing in the video by the way? (The blue outfit in the cutscenes) thanks!
I'd like the new Witcher game to have a set MC, but you can pick his (most likely would be male, just because only Cats trained girls), and people comment on it. Cats get shit on constantly, Bears talk in Skellige accent, Griffin is knightly, etc
Some new Information was Released on the witcher schools, be sure to watch this updated video! ua-cam.com/video/Kk4SePoGNBw/v-deo.html

You did miss another bear member, Junod of Belhaven.
I also personally believe they are from Skellige, the concept of 'viking witchers' is really cool. In my head I'd like to think because of being Skelligers, some of them used Silver axes instead of swords.
Throren That idea is dope as fuck.
Awesome idea
Would love to see Witchers using silver axes or even silver throwing axes as throwable ranged weapons

In my experience they can be fast, but generally move slow
I don’t think the cat school should be taken literally, more like mountain lion or other big feline
Cheetahs are cats.
You are using a house cats top speed. House cats are about the size of a bears paw, of course a bear is gonna be faster. A cat that is of more similar size to a bear is gonna be fast than the bear, a tiger for example, or a cheeta of course.
Then again bears arent slow either
Slower then Griffins, manticores, wolves, vipers an cats though haha
@Xeon Chan Definitely faster than a cat.
@@WitcherGeorge Yeah Bears and Wolves have roughly the same top speed.
I do believe it's about reaction speed, mobility and stuff like that, not full top speed which doesn't make that much sense.
I think he means bears are heavy and fast, hit hard and carry a lot of momentum. Compared to wolves and big cats - agile, stealthy and vicious
New Recruit Seriously though, good historical referencing; I enjoy the way you think.
Genius. I'd instantly play it and choose Manticore School all the way.
Could work like monster hunter world not full mmo but has the multiplayer aspects.
The Witcher school of the bear would fight with the speed and velocity of a Highlander max level in For Honor just much faster and more tactical skills the s*** those guys do is Greatsword holy f*** man
DUNMAGLASS
@@AndorRadnai or the school of the leshen
@@scootyboy0822 Nice idea, but maybe a bit too ordinary for a School name. Despite them being my favourite Monster in the Witcher…
The coolest looking armor set. Rule of cool. The white bear.
Best. Armor. In the game.
Simply put, it looks amazing and I worked a lot to find all of them.
Interestingly enough, the Griffin armor should probably be the most durable armour given that the entire set (at least at later levels) is comprised of plate and mail.
But that would lead to balancing problems, as Griffin already has some of the highest attack power.
It's hardened studded leather and mail, some small metal reinforcements. Bear Armor has plate spaulders.
does feel a little weird that CDPR didnt make a back story for the school of the bear, seems like a missed opportunity to me especially because they fleshed out the Svalblods which are all about turning in to bears. Good Vid
thank you man
These videos are awesome man, I have always been very interested in the lore of the Witcher universe, but never got around to investigating things further. Great videos, and the quality is surprisingly good for someone with sub 1000 subscribers! Keep up the good work dude!
thank you bud
”Spike-ruuuug”😂
Tec66 god dammit haha

Thank you for watching, keep at it!
WitcherGeorge Heck yeah i will. And you keep up the good content!
Daniel Eriksson continue with the wolven gear, the grandmaster gear is total badass, trust me you won't be disappointed.
The bear in every conceivable symbolic way is by far the most badass
Master ursine gear for me (love it) i feel like a armored truck going from school of the cat armor
Bear armour is my favourite too, but I have to go griffin now haha
It was my favorite too
Also, in Norse, there are very close similarities between the words bear and beserker, which is probably how CD Projeckt Red came up with the idea.

I've got a story of my own about the witcher 4. Which includes the school of the manticore.
I went with the Griffon school for TW3 and crafting the high level set in Blood and Wine.

A Witcher from a Bear School as a main protagonist... This would be a tale of a man who seeks balance, comfort and solitude in life.
From the story that CDProject presented us in the game it simply matches those ideals.
I would picture a perfect Witcher from this school as following:
- Strength and confidence
- Standing against adversity; taking action and leadership
- Necessity for healing or using healing abilities to help self or others ( They are a "Tank" type of witcher, so they are those who recieve heavy blows)
- Emphasizes the importance of solitude, quiet time, rest (As stated at the begining)
- Strong grounding forces (Quen would be their go to sign, possibly Yrden too)
- Stoicism and moral compass of Epic proportions
I feel like it would be cool to do a game where you can pick your school and train and such in there discipline
I’m still going through these videos and lore so I don’t know about the schools themselves, but my favorite witcher gear in W3 is definitely Griffin.
a good way to put it would be all Witchers have the same standard powers and each school specializes in a specific sub class of fighting, so bear would be heavy specialists, wolf medium, etc. Also by far the best witcher lore series on youtube thank you for taking the time to make these and actually doing them well and being clear you're already a huge leg up to other lore channels so keep up the great work
The Witcher Grandmaster Bear gear is my favorite especially tinted with the red color. Looks stylish as hell
Nooo.. it looks so damn hot, especially running around on a sunny beach 🙈 then rather Wolf or Cat.. but bear looks great on cooler Skellige
My favorite school! Nice video, keep it up! :D
For the next witcher game they should make it so that you can design your own witcher and choose what school they come from with different perks depending on what one and also have it be less story focused and more on just being witcher
when i first found these new witcher armours my first thought was that they werent exacly from different schools but that they were just custom armours for specifc members from the school we know
So far, my favorite school is the School of the Griffin for the armor that comes with it is pretty nice.
bear school is a very strong combo because its also tied into quen buffs at grandmaster... with quen you can literally just go in for a heavy attack crit and take a counter attack and just fall back.
its a weird playstyle but def a very very strong one for massive dmg.
its way better vs big monsters, and less vs humanoids or fast moving targets.
My guess about the wolf school was that they are a compromise in speed and strength and emphasize teamwork.
Thank you mate, I'm glad you like them
I guess you are right when it comes to witchers using heavy weapons. I guess they ought to have used larger silver swords as well as silver bladed polearms or axes.
Really enjoying your videos. :) thanks for the hard work!
I always though Fort Etnir or the ruins near Yngvar’s Fang where likely spots for the Bear school.
Great idea man!
Quen+ grandmaster bear set + euphoria + alchemy and combat skills + red mutagenics = indestructible war machine
Can you detail which skills you used so I can make my build like yours? It sounds awesome
I love cats
School of bear also has close ties with the Dwarves and their homeland.
Crach's armor looks like a modified version of the master ursine armor a bit. The assumption that the bear school was on Skellige is probably right.
Good point!
The Bear Keep or the School of the Bear is called "Haern Caduch" and it's high atop the Amell mountains. So its in Cintra. Not Skellige.
Aha Awesome
School of Bear. Power attack soooo satisfying
The fields of Ard Skellige, what a soundtrack, by far my favourite
I love it too
My problem with the ursine armour is that it barely looks "heavy".
LOVE this armor. My fav and the 1st one I completed. Love the look and fit my play stle
Think there is for the grandmaster in the dlc blood and wine
I love the Ursine armour, it looks awesome
I’m a little late, but I’d have to pick the school of the Griffin as my favourite. I just love the idea of a school full of alchemist witchers
Aren't the Griffin's the more mage lige witchers and the manticores the ones tha focus more on Achemy?
Love this damn game story legendary site quests legendary (even when game crashes over 10 times in a couplse quests) one of the BEST games i played. Nice video btw like the story of the school of the bear like all of the schools bear, wolf, grffin, cat, viper, etc . Very nice.
Thank you man!
Geralt doesn’t tuck his hair into the grand master ursine armor, thus my departure from the school of the bear
A viking witcher with a two headed axe with one blade covered in silver would be gnarly.
Cat is my favorite in terms of both armor aesthetics and lore thus far.
Imagine a Witcher mmo similar to the elder scrolls online that would be a cool idea people could make their own Witcher and pick their school as somewhat of a class system
School of the bear armor looks wicked, pair it with a dwarven axe ( bought all over velen/novigrad ) and you got yourself a sick look
just reading comments and i just suddenly got this thought: why only swords? for example against golems? and maybe those gargoyles? and maybe some insectoids with thick armor that a sword would have a hard time cutting/or piercing through.....I think that maybe a warhammer/axe would be more effective for certain things, and maybe spears as well.....maybe im stretching it tho
Maybe! Probably because that's all we've been presented with.
A Witcher MMO where we could creat our own witcher and pick a school or sorcery

Awesome!
You get some of the ursine armor diagrams in velen where you find Thaler. And it sounds like Gerd is actually from Toussaint.
I remember finding the entire armour tier 3 armour set by accident in one random drowner cave recently so I took it as a sign and started pursuing the rest of the schematics for them (I usually ran the cat gear set)
In future I wanna see a Witcher game call white wolf. And it’s 1 2 and 3 of the wither games in one. A full story of Geralt
Interesting man!
They were in the Amell mountains, which border Toussaint. So instead of Vikings, they are more likely French inspired. Which is fascinating.
bear is definetly my new favorite school

How tf did Witchers lose to peasants?! I'd just igni their asses.
@pen pen Because he spared him. Unless the witchers were holding back like Geralt, I don't see how they would've been taken down by peasants. Especially bear witchers who would just spam an extremely powerful Quen while fighting.
I'd imagine the bear to be the tank of the witchers.
Awesome video mate! I seem to learn more watching these than I do actually playing the game, sometimes lol! What armour is your Geralt wearing in the video by the way? (The blue outfit in the cutscenes) thanks!
I believe it may have been the cat armour
Also known as “Im 4 layers of Quen ahead of you”
As someone who is viking and understands and speaks old norse ngl this was painful to listen to but I understand the difficulty
Rumor is they might be continuing the witcher franchise. Wether they use Geralt for the games or a new witcher is up for debate
They will be continuing with the franchise!
Awesome! Thanks for the videos too. They filled in any gaps or questions I had for the witcher series leading up to 3
I'd like the new Witcher game to have a set MC, but you can pick his (most likely would be male, just because only Cats trained girls), and people comment on it. Cats get shit on constantly, Bears talk in Skellige accent, Griffin is knightly, etc
Only other not mentioned member we now know of so far is Ivo of Belhaven from Thronebreaker
Manticore School all the way. Nothing beats alchemy, bombs and that epic Manticore emblem on swords.
Love your videos!
Dude I looked exactly like this in my playthrough at this exact part! Haha great minds think alike 😄👍(very beginning of video)
