the brazilian telenovela Em Familia wasn't the first kiss, A Calúnia (1963) Vida Alves and Geórgia Gomide, Mulheres Apaixonadas (2003) Clara and Rafaela kiss in a play, Senhora do Destino (2004) Eleonora and Jenifer, Amor e Revolução (2011) Giselle Tigre and Luciana Vendramini. the most representatives kisses in brazilian tv was those, there're more but the one which have everything is on Felizes Para Sempre (2015) Denise and Marilia, got romance, spice scenes, drama all of it.
Amazing, thanks for providing the info! This means that Brazil had the first sapphic kiss on TV as far as I know, about 10 years before what I thought was the first in the early 1970's in Australia! I'll have to go make an ammendment note on my HIstory of Sapphic Film and TV video. Thank you!
I know I've commented these shows before, but I don't care. I'm doing it again. "Lost Girl" and "Person of Interest" both shows normalized wlw relationships and didn't make a big deal about the gayness. C'mon, y'all! Also, I came SUPER LATE to, and now I'm rather obsessed with, the webseries, "Carmilla." Talk about representation as well as not making a big deal about the lgbtqia relationships. ❤️! Thank you, Canada 🇨🇦 for not killing off your queer characters!!!!
Add Wynonna Earp to that list. It was written by Emily Andras writer of Lost Girl . Celebrated and normalised the relationship on Wynonna Earp too. Now they are coming with a 90 minute special on Tubi this fall .
@@conniesl7371 she didn’t spoil anything and it’s so old at this point someone should be able to spoil it It’s a good show. Nothing was spoiled. Enjoy the storyline
One day I just came across their super edit. Out of nowhere. Suddenly I knew people like me existed, I had words and feelings to describe and understand myself. Watched everything. And then got destroyed at their ending.
Is this a complete story/series or will we be left in the lurch again? I don't mind if a couple splits up but so many stories just don't have an ending, or, we see x number of episodes and then nothing . . . . .
I think animation is sorely missing here. There's great animated shows like She-ra, Harley Quinn and Arcane that are really really good and deserve a mention
Yes. I'd add The Legend of Korra, which was kind of the Xena of animation in that they had to hint at Korra & Asami, especially with the finale of the two of them going off on vacation together to the Spirit World without their mutual ex-boyfriend and his brother tagging along. And The Owl House, which got to be more upfront with Luz & Amity's relationship, though since it was still supposed to be aimed at kids could only have some kisses & holding hands. Still hate that Disney cut it short since they like shows with stand alone episodes instead of serialized which they can air randomly between movies, so we didn't get a proper coming out scene for Luz. Still what they did was cute. Ms Mojo did a Top 20 animated WLW shows.
You forgot The Owl House - its high quality cartoon too with really cool world, well developed characters and interresting humor and later on FF relationship. My guess many ppl missed that bec. on first glance it looks like "for small kids" show, but even if you are adult its still great watch.
thanks for this great video!! so many great recommendations... I would personally also add Atypical to this list because its such a great show and I absolutely love the ship in it (plus it's almost the main focus for an entire season)
liberty's secret and girltrash: all night long are musicals. Liberty's secret is kind of cute and then girltrash is more comical with a happy ending. Both have a happy ending
Great video! Thanks so much for including Otalia from Guiding Light. Indeed, it is the best slowburn, enemies to lovers story I’ve ever seen. The story was carefully crafted and despite the ridiculous no-kissing rule, the two actors generated so much authentic chemistry. Love them.
@@100percentshipper Oh I wanted to add, I LOVE that you included Fire. I remember when the women got together in the end, I actually whooped with joy. I was so scared something awful would happen to them. What an excellent film.

Not sure if this movie has been recommended before, but 'Below Her Mouth' from 2017 is a great lesbian movie. Starring: Natalie Krill and Erika Linder.
Oh Pepa and Sylvia...my rule now is to just stop at the wedding I Dos. Also watch Anni and Jasmin if you haven't. It's another fizzle out plot line after they play out the relationship but definitely worth the watch.

"The Gay Episode" section: Star Trek does not get nearly the credit it deserves as a show that pushed society and was far ahead of its time. My mum is a Trekkie and I often watched the series' with her. We were watching 'Rejoined' on ST:DSN when it aired and my 14-year old heart leapt out of my chest. I was not out, I didn't actually know what gay was, although I grew up around gay men. It was a non-issue in our family, so I had never heard a label for it. I always knew I liked girls, and my first kiss was with a girl when I was 6. But I had no references for Queer relationships or love and had never seen it on TV. This DSN episode was the first time I saw two women kiss on tv in a way that wasn't only a hint. To this day, it's one of my favourite TV episodes ever. *Spoiler* I remember telling my mum after the episode ended that I thought it was silly that Dax couldn't be with Lenara because of some silly rule about rekindling relationships from previous host experiences because Dax was still friends with someone who knew her in her previous host (Ben always called her 'Old Man' because of this). So if she could keep her friendship with Ben, why couldn't she be with Lenara? As noted, this kiss was next level (LOL I remember noticing the single strand of saliva between them when they broke apart, and I couldn't help thinking "Whoa, they were really going for it." This episode might be my gay awakening. Xena. There are no words for what this show means to queer women. That awesome dragon on Gabrielle's back in the last episode of the series? I have that dragon on my whole back. Legit.
I love this! I have a total soft spot for Rejoined too, even though I never managed to watch the series as a whole, I'm a Voyager gal, and wow, Gabrielle's Tattoo, that is awesome.
Here’s a few I don’t think you mentioned. Lip Service 2010 British TV Show. Films: Claire of the Moon, Killing of Sister George, Bar Girls and More Beautiful for being Broken (free on YT).

For the horror genre there is definitely a movie called “Perfection” pretty good gory and has a dark back story but there is some wlw in it. Also there is another horror movie as well called “5ive girls” I like the horror genre however it does have quite a bit of the trope Bury your gays.
Black Mirror: San Junipero is a great Gay Episode! And some movies: Jennifer's Body (horror), Colette (drama), Tove (drama). (And web series, although they were not included in the video: Carmilla, and Brown Girls.)
The best lesbian movies I have watched are Christmas at the Ranch, Idle Thoughts, Best for having been broken. They are the best ones. Very romantic lesbian movies. ❤❤😊😊
As in for Spanish TV shows with lesbian representation, I would also recommend Hospital Central. Similar to Grey's Anatomy in the sense of being set in a hospital, but actually focused on the character relationships, drama and development. There's the storyline of Maca and Esther, I think it's worth to check out. Also I'm not exactly sure, but I'd would say it happened before Los Hombres de Paco, but I really never watched this one. There is another couple on Mexican TV who didn't know them or don't mention them but for me they were and will be a great couple who should receive more recognition because they were the first for me on Mexican TV, LAS APARICIO, WHERE Erendira Ibarra came from and grew up to be in the new Matrix, I LOVE their story and it seems like they never existed. well here I put them in the light of the public. thanks the summary is great there are several movies that I have to update, thanks for that too.

@100% Shipper 😊 Considering that lesbian movies only came out every 10 years, and that this was mostly positive, going to see it in the theatre (the only place you could see it) was like going to Disneyland or something. And seeing them actually have sex practically made me stop breathing. I had never seen something like it onscreen before. Even if it was very stylized. It was women kissing!!!
Do lesbian women not like lesbian sex scenes? I don't get it Every time they talk about sex scenes in lesbian movies they mention the male gaze. But shouldn't it be appealing to queer women?
14:14 No. She is in Nevada to get a divorce. At the time you had a waiting period, so some ranches turned into places to stay during the period. While there, she falls in love. Please google. 29:03 Dax was a dude when they were married. Please use google. 41:35 How about *NOT* claiming shows are “queer baiting “ when it’s “fans” whining about storylines that are never intended.

Honestly I loved pepa and silvia storyline till they were getting married and I refuse to accept what happen next...I loved their chemistry
It ended after they said "I do" I too refuse to accept anything after that scene as canon.
Good to know. If I watch, I'll stop there. Thanks!
I don't understand why no one ever acknowledges All My Childrens Lena Kundera and Bianca Montgomery 😪
Musical - Liberty's Secret (very cheesy but gay)
I watched it today... really nice
I'm totally shipping Mia and Meredith from Vampire Academy
I just finished season 1 myself. Very cute couple!
Incredible, thank you so much
Liana was a huge deal when it was released.
Thanks for sharing! I love hearing these kinds of things!
@100% Shipper 😊
Considering that lesbian movies only came out every 10 years, and that this was mostly positive, going to see it in the theatre (the only place you could see it) was like going to Disneyland or something.
And seeing them actually have sex practically made me stop breathing. I had never seen something like it onscreen before. Even if it was very stylized. It was women kissing!!!
I’m still mad about Lexa!
Do lesbian women not like lesbian sex scenes? I don't get it
Every time they talk about sex scenes in lesbian movies they mention the male gaze. But shouldn't it be appealing to queer women?
yes we do. I found it weird that the author of the video said that the l word sex scenes were for males lol, lesbians like sex too.
Girl Trash is a lesbian musical.
Mam your video is awesome but if I am not wrong round about ten years ago I saw a english periodic lesbian movie that was in three parts and the heroine of that movie was well known actress i don't remember it's name can you tell me something about it i will be very thankful towards you
Are you referring to Fingersmith with Sally Hawkins?
Tipping the Velvet?
Fingersmith (2 part movie) > Handmaiden
Movie recommandation : More Beautiful for Having Been Broken
TV Gay Episode : San Junipero (Black Mirror)
Musicals,,,, what about Girltrash: All Night Long...... loved this movie
Lost and delirious and Better than chocolate are missing in this list
THE L WORD all the way, baby!!! Serve me up some Shane & Marina.
I’d rec “The world to come”.
Lip service,it is about three gay (and more) women in Glasgow, and it is
awesome!!!👌✌️
You should look into Once and Again jess and Katie
I want more happy endings.
I vids for that - Films: ua-cam.com/play/PLRzHQtNIDFUs02UFigC7xvtsaPWBjQrac.html, TV: ua-cam.com/video/wM1opkXcSE0/v-deo.html. TV one could do with an update but it's a start.
For comedy, I highly recommend Drool. It’s a very camp wlw about an abused wife accidentally killing her husband and her and best friend go on the run.
