    Rita looks just beautiful there. I remember listening to this song on the radio when it came out in the 70's. They played it all the time, and I loved it because it's such a great song. I'm 12 years old again hearing this. Wonderful memories! God Bless!

    Classic mellow 70's song. What a beautiful woman and voice. Makes me want to go through a time machine and go back to this era. I know there is some debate over this,but I think the 70's was the best decade for music and we probably won't ever have another decade like it.

    Breathless to watch this masterpiece from Rita Coolidge ... She sings it from the heart ... The melody of the song ... I don't know why, but It makes me sad ... It's simple, but it tears you apart ... The lyrics are so genuine, describing the very part of loneliness ... It's so '70s and they don't make it like this anymore ... Truly a masterpiece ...

    Can I live back in 70s again? This one brings me chills ... Such a sweet sad song that might happen to everybody (be honest!) and the lyrics written by Boz Scaggs is so killing me ... Rita is so beautiful. The video is perfect and has the 70s 'color' in it, flowing me to the good old days ...

    Boz Scaggs wrote one hell of a song here. It works on so many levels. I remember listening to it in my flat after the end of another relationship, becoming maudlin with the help of a few glasses of wine, as you do, and wishing I could "learn how to pretend."
    The idea of a story being told and then growing old is universal and yes, sadly, we are all alone.
    Rita sings it beautifully. I think she knew whereof she sang.

    This is probably my favourite "love" song ever. The lyrics by Boz Scaggs are so powerful and so true. The older I get, the more these lyrics resonate and it does not just apply to "romantic" love. Every relationship we have deepens the realisation of essentially being all alone. Rita sing this with a huge amount of passion like she knows all about it. She has a stunning voice.

    Rita's song actually moves me to tears. It did reach #7 in November of '77 where it stayed for 4 consecutive weeks, unable to bust through the strength of several other power ballads that were popular at that time. The blistering lead solo which unconventionally closes the song gives me goosebumps.

    This song always makes me sad (the lyrics and the music is so ...), but it's a beautiful song. One of the best love ballads of all time ... Loneliness, sad but graceful, crying, cast away, romantic, misty, faith, hope, 70s heartfelt and heart-touching song ... Those words describe how I feel about this song ...

      It's Boz Scaggs' song. This is a cover. She has a marvelous voice, but the overdone orchestrations here really make it a whole different song than Boz meant it to be. We're not all alone dear, we have a whole effing symphony in here with us.

    • @uvoufo3968
      @uvoufo3968 8 років тому +1

      +Mike Prevost Mike, all that orchestration (in addition, naturally, to beautiful Rita's wonderful voice) is what makes this version the greatest one, far greater than Boz's. That bass is enough to make me climb up the walls! Do you happen to know who plays it there? Cheers!

    I am living in Korea and I heard a Korean song where a very small piece of the melody reminded me of this--hadn't heard it since the mid 70s and I'm 35 now. I was now able to google the song with the few lyrics that I could remember. I found it here, and the song is more beautiful than I remembered, especially now that I can see and understand the lyrics. I had never seen it before. The song and the video both leave me with that "peaceful, easy feeling" that's hard to beat anywhere. Thanks!
