For me,I just pull my rCB back and try to block the way of the main runner,usually they either try to still by or wait for support,form there I just try to defend good enough and get the ball back,and watch out if I make a goal for next time

You can try to do what ever if you didn't pay in this game it will do what ever you want that it , it can make the defence go in opposite directions and open a space or make you do a baby pass
what a great skill i read ao ashi and played efootball recently. really need strategy, how to pressure attacker or defender, keep the 'formation' and possesion. once you understand the control you will dominate the game

X will run straight to the ball, good for chasing or when you are close but its quite easy to bypass for good dribblers, so i dont use it. Better to manually run using LS and R2. L2 is kinda like jockey. Ive made a video on matchup before for ver0.9 if you want to know more (defend part 1). Still the same but different button.

In this example you should never ever select your back 4. All you do is screw with the ai defensive line. What you should do is select the midfielder (the one that comes running back) and run back / press with him yourself. This way the defensive backline will stay compact without any holes in it. I repeat never ever touch your back 4 in this scenario! Everything else I agree. Also missing: Using manual offside to bring your back 4 back into shape like seen here: ua-cam.com/video/yG8EMIatgZY/v-deo.html Here the attacker is drawing in one defender (all to the left of the screen). The backline is no longer existent because of it. Here you want to use manual offside to bring this one defender forwards to join the back4 line and regain defending structure.
yeah, kinda annoying when being hit with that kind of goal. me myself will always switch to CB and wait during kick off, in case they use this exploit.
At kick off, do not commit to any tackle. Just hold your position and make sure you're current selecting your forwards. Drag your forwards back, that way all teammate's mentality will be defensive minded. Works in 2021 and 2022

Use L2 to intercept. Player with interception or blocker skill and higher defensive awareness will better at intercepting the ball. At least in theory.

Stil doesn't explain why a 90 rated defender runs away from the ball to let the other player score, I've watched dozens of tutorials but it's useless if the AI screws you over every time
in efootball 2022, the inertia is a lot higher. so, aggressive pressing and using shoulder charge can be punished. its better to cover the spaces and passing lanes. but now in efootball 2023, yes, its better to press and shoulder charge as the inertia is toned down a lot.

Matchup will slow down the player a bit and if the opponent do fake shot, he will react to it, so better not to hold it all the time

Also you can offside trap or move defensive line deep right after kick-off.

Defending is broken. Second man press is beyond op.
2nd man press is actually easy to bypass.
2nd man press is broken, you cant control who or how long to press
second man press is vulnerable to touch n go pass
