It really shows off Mackintosh's unique style of design, it must have been very cutting edge at the time. The lights were gorgeous and I loved the bathroom.
I could hear by the emotion in your voice that words and pictures could not do this place justice. It almost looked like a doll house when you were walking around on the different levels. this place is absolutely amazing! Dare I say it reminded me of Frank Lloyd Wright interiors not exterior. Similar time period ,different country. Thank you for the tour you did it justice.
I have a great love of everything the Mackintoshes achieved. I did get a bit overwhelmed when I realised I was seeing their achievements first hand. I think CRM would have been well chuffed with the way his building has been preserved!
@@AScottishOdyssey I visited there years ago. 1989 is a bit modern for this channel. The designs are CRM with a modern execution, so I would really need to think about the best way to incorporate that into Exploring Scotland's History.
Wow! What an amazing house. I love it. I like how they are preserving it. It's neat how you can climb up and see it from so many different angles. Inside the house was so cool. I love the designs that are on everything! The carpet, the chairs, the windows. I bet you could go in there 20 times and see something new each time. Thank you for sharing this with us. This was so cool. Maybe one day I can visit this house. I would enjoy that. If not, that's okay. I got to see it through your eyes.
I could live in the house! Despite being over 100 years old, it's pretty much a straight move in, no work required, kinda place. And yes, I feel there is loads I didn't see!
I had an external visit some years ago along with some other locations including St Peters Seminary, a particularly interesting spot further up the road. Another great video.
The architecture of Hill House both inside and out is spectacular. St Peters is somewhere I haven't gone, not a great fan of brutalist architecture if I'm honest.
I was in awe the whole time watching this. I loved your lantern. Gorgeous. I wonder if the house's neighbors put up a fuss when the box was built around the house to protect it. Thanks for this fascinating post.
Next you visit Helensburgh you need to visit The Macintosh club in Sinclair Street . It's on my list to visit next time I'm home as well as Hill House 🌹
I couldn't get into House for an Art Lover last time either so it's on my list to do. But did manage the Lighthouse in Glasgow & MacIntosh House & Willow Tea Rooms 🥰 Now I'm getting Macintosh rose tattoos 😊
House for an Art Lover is a tad new for my liking, but I'd still visit to see the designs. I'm transfixed by them, I did some 'inspired' glass work for a lantern. ua-cam.com/video/EStvaFxRVp4/v-deo.htmlsi=-XNOGELHPgrD3eWP

What an amazing piece of architecture! It's certainly a unique place. Thank you so much for this tour!
You are most welcome! It's a really individual place!
Thank you, loved your appreciation and presentation.
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it!
What a place. It's good that it's being protected, and the design is stunning. Great video xx
Thanks Valerie. It's fab that it's being protected and not left to fall down, it's a fabulous place!

It's a stunning place! And one I could move straight into ha ha

Really interesting. Thanks! I'm coming to visit mid December. Really looking forward to it.
The Hill House is really worth the visit. The designs are breath taking!
I've been there. It's a stunning place. I would always recommend visiting Hill House.
I've had a fixation with Mackintosh design since I was a wean, it's an iconic place.

@@ExploringScotlandsHistory I hadn't realised that it was a late 20th Century build, until I visited there about four years ago.
Must visit one day, I remember my Aunt having the bedroom hangings and other bedroom linen at her home whilst she was renovating them.
It's worth a visit, so much more to see than I could fit in a video!

I think the importance of this piece of architecture probably ensured any complaints were quickly quashed.
