Great video! I'm really interested in learning how to deal with the animation length when adjusting the duration in the timeline.
Another great example of why that initial background node is so useful. Thank you. Yes, please do a video on how to handle the animation when the length of the fusion comp is changed on the timeline. This has baffled me often. 😊
Great tut, I think you should also use the OG Fusion logo in the thumbnail instead of the icon at the bottom of Resolve for Fusion page which most people aren't familiar with.
This video is f….ing amazing!!!! I was so scared of the fusion page! I absolutely understand the basic how to work with it! it helped me to create all kind of animations, not just flying in text! thank you! 🙏🏼 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
👍
Looking forward to the next video. I know the node you're probably going to use is the Timeline Stretcher, but I haven't messed around with it so I'm curious to see how it works.
As for what I'd add to the screen element in this video, I'm always a fan of when elements subtly move as they're on the screen. So, I'd have the text slowly move slightly to the right as it's on the screen (while still staying within the purple box). Things like that tend to make the elements feel less static and gives a nice extra layer of visual interest to them.
Hi Casey! This is inspiring and simple thanks!
I would love to make the text characters do a Mexican wave up and down thing where the shine passes. 😎✅
That's a great idea!
Thanks, Casey. After editing in Final Cut for the last 12 years, I just made the jump to DaVinci last week (jump is maybe an overstatement - I'm dipping my toes), and you have been a beacon of hope on this stormy voyage.
You are AMAZING teacher. Really talent. Not too much words, but every step described perfectly.
Nice video Casey! I might round the corners slightly to improve the design, since you asked. But I learned that the rectangle3 node could mask 2 diff nodes simultaneously. I didn't know that! Thanks!
Nice. Great refresher and always fab to see a different approach solving a problem.
To make it smart, I’d play around with expressions, total keyframe count, percentages and iif. Maybe there is a smarter way? Can’t wait to see the next video.
Only thing I did to change this really was add a drop shadow to the text as well. Makes the text stick out a little and feel 3 dimensional and makes that shine pop a little more
Thank you Casey! I keep applying new stuff to my videos thanks to you!
Forgot to add that I'll now look for the reusable one or that extends to the lengtht I want 😊😊
Thanks Casey that was very easy to follow; I am guessing the follow up will show us how to use anim curves on it -- hope so and looking forward to it ....its all suddenly making more sense
it's very well explained, bravo, your tutorials are amazing.
Great video. I will be watching more. You are a fantastic educator.
Thanks for that tutorial, Casey. Heading over from Premiere. Much-appreciated.
Something I find useful, should you need multiple instances in a timeline, for example different names and job tiles/subject matters, is to use Text+, rather than a fusion comp. If you drop Text+ onto the timeline and open in the fusion page, you can animate and add the backgrounds etc etc. Back on the edit page, duplicate as many times as you need for the different people/subjects and because the Text+ came from the edit page to start with, any text based changes can be made without having to dip in and out of the fusion page, as you have all the text controls right there on the edit page, whilst still retaining all the animation/effects from the original instance, that you added in the fusion page. It does speed up my workflow.
Downside is you can't save to use in other projects like your can with fusion comps. Or perhaps you can??
You should be able to save it in an power bin
Great training. I’m so use to Apple Motion it’s taking some time to learn Fusion. Keep ‘em coming!😊😊
I enjoyed that and succeeded. Fireworks would be a great addition.
Love this tutorial! 👍 I'm a beginner in Resolve. Thanks.
WHOA it's been a minute since I needed to wash your stuff and you've lost weight. You look great!
Great video! One thing I found though is that dragging the rectangle mask onto the color corrector didn't default to the mask input for me... I actually had to drag it directly onto the mask (blue) node itself.
Thanks, Casey. Additions should have the background color’s width expand to fit longer text and have a template that lets users change text size, color, background color and maybe more without having to go back into Fusion.
Super useful guide as always Casey, thanks so much! I was able to plug in my channel's custom graphics/animations into what you just taught me :)
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much, Casey I just did mine
Wow. I didn't know you could make a blank Fusion comp, lol. Been just doing it to footage all this time.
Great video. Super clear. Where can I find the video that deals with the automatic length adjustment? Also, you said at the beginning that there is another video where you teach how to save the fusion composition and be able to use it in other projects. Where can I find that video too? Again. thank you so much!!
Hey Casey - Great Stuff. Really appreciate your work...
Your video helped me a lot, thank you very much, hope your tutorial has Chinese subtitles
Do you have a video that shows how you make the animation smart so it ends depending on how long you make it?🙂
Great video but I wish you'd zoom out of your mouse cursor. It's like trying to follow a fly with binoculars!
Really very useful. Well explained as always! Thanks
So clear! So helpful! Thanks.
How did you know this is what I was working on? 😀 Thanks, this is very helpful.
Great tut, basic. Id like to have seen a write on keyframes or a follower modifier
thank you. but where is the other video where you will explain how to make the animation smart to end by the end of the clip?
Great video! Thank you
Very nifty, thanks for sharing
Thank you for this fun tutorial. I really enjoy learning Fusion from you! It's strange though. I do all the steps, but when I add the rectangle mask to the purple lower third, my CC node and it's mask turn red and the rectangle mask attached to the node for the L3 BG no longer functions. Such a drag. I guess the software is buggy on my computer.
thanks for the tutorial, much appreciated. After setting up the Fusion comp and going back into edit, it appeared blank, and when I went back into fusion to check it, it was reset, sadface - but prob me
Is there a link to the part 2 of this? It was hinted at in the video.
Make some experts tutorial also .. Davinci resolve always stuck with beginners tutorial 😂😂. Sad reality 😂
Hi Casey!
Great video. I would like ro know how you can make one end of the rectangle opace so it fades from 100% on the left to 0% on the right. Hope you can explaine that sometimes.
A gradient-mask with keyframe should work
Hey, how is it going? I have a question, how can I modify the length of the fusion effect? The subject you said you will talk in another video, did you do it already? Sorry to bother you!
Casey - why was it necessary to have a blank background and then add a purple background? Why would just making one purple background not work? Thanks - you make great videos.
In this instance, yes you could probably skip the blank BG, I like to have the blank BG as it sets the comp size. It's just a practice I get into. You could skip it for this comp as the masked purple bg would be the same size yeah.
@@CaseyFaris - cool thanks.
Hi , I have a question. Can i animate existing graphics instead of making entirely new ones in fusion?
Newbie Question Alert!
Is there a way to save all of this work in order to replicate easily for another Text? Like some sort of Macro?
awesome
Got to trying to merge matte 3 to merge 2 and it wouldn't connect no matter what I tried then the whole preview screen went black so now nothing is showing. Not doing well with this node stuff
how can i add Lower third templates found in Mixkit to davinci resolve and to edit it?
Could you please help us with that
How about adding some emoticon graphics into the purple background?
Is that possible?
Thanks for the lesson, I am new to Fusion.
Yes you can add anything you have an image for.
Cool. How would you save it to drag-and-drop in other projects ?
I have a vid coming out on Wed on this!
@@CaseyFaris Looking forward to that vid!
Is there a way to build it to have an auto layout feature so that the rectangle adjusts size to varying sizes of text?
Yes! I’ll make a vid on it!
@Casey Faris - At the 3:05 mark, you said the masks are right under the "transform controls". Did you mean "playback controls"?
Haha yup, good catch
I think I met transport controls.
@@CaseyFaris were they nice?
@@CaseyFaris No problem, I have an eye for detail 😊
Do we need this all technical stuff just to create a lower third?
More cats. It needs more cats.
Thanks
U lost some serious weight 🤔
Yup, been workin hard!
please make your next tutorials a bit slower, you are going way too fast. Great stuff though thank you
ADD a Logo!
This is nitpicking, but the shadow under the purple field should be animated as well.
