I can't remember ever sitting down to edit a video and not checking your channel for something new that I can add. Your videos are an invaluable resource! Thank you so much!!!
That animation works perfectly. The only thing I missed and couldn't find is how to make text slowly rise and slowly disappear? It seems I missed something... Does anyone notice that text behaves differently at the end but we did nothing with it.
Yea it happens at around 26:46 where the edit of the video suddenly cuts to him looking at the text settings and now the text is animated differently xD I guess they missed that when editing the video or something, Im gonna try to figure out how to do that as I learn to use Fusion and Davinci
Knowing Resolve a little bit I must say to make this there is a lot of thought behind this small scene. Thank you Casey for sharing your knowledge with us, this means a lot to us.
Wow. I've only been using DaVinci for a few months and spent very little time on Fusion but your videos are giving me a glimpse into the possibilities. I'm approaching the point of understanding how little I know and just how much there is to learn. Thank you!
I just got Resolve a week ago and was planning on primarily using it for putting together my animation clips, but now I am seeing that it’s capable of SO much more! Thank you for making this easy to follow; it does seem very intimidating to start doing things in Fusion, but with these kinds of videos it makes the process much easier and less daunting. Thank you!
Casey, you're a magician! It's not just about the amazing things you show us, but also about how you present all the information. There are so many people who also do remarkable things with DaVinci Resolve, but their way of presenting information is... well, quite a bit worse. Thank you for the fantastic video; it took me around two hours to repeat the steps and finally understand what, how, and why works in that specific way.
From all I have seen from you, I must say, you are to DaVinci Resolve (Fusion), what Blender Guru is for Blender. Except without the Donuts! XD Oh my blob, your videos are SO helpful. Your teaching style is amazing. Calm, informative, pragmatic and often spiced with a nice sense of humour. Thanks!
hands down you the best. I have learnt so much. MY one take from this video that will transform my work moving forward is the Shift + s and click on a point to make a curve. thank you very much sir
How did you learn all this stuff? Did you just go cold turkey and try to figure it out for yourself or did you go cover to cover with a manual? Excellent job.
great guide on keyframing and motion graphics! personal notes: 17:13 !!! -- adjusting keyframes for a smoother movement path 25:58 -- stopmotion node to keep the motion consistent (on 2s) 27:00 -- davinci resolve's particle system!
This was soooo helpful for a brand new guy i totally understood everything you said and it all made sense and Im a complete noob to this. Ive never done anything creative before until deciding to make a youtube channel (not this account). Ive always done blue collar stuff and was in the army so this is an entirely new world to me at 38. Im going to watch your 9 node video too.
This is not my level of editing but definitely this is something I would love to do in the future and your tutorial just makes me believe I can do it !
Again, Casey your tutorial is just in a class by itself. There are very few educators on this platform that can hold a candle to what you’re doing and HOW you’re doing it! Stellar work sir, just stellar! And in case it’s not clear, yes this satisfies your previous request for what is needed in the space. This specific type of content. Clear, simple, and easy to follow. More please. I do have one question about the process and not the result here: Are you live narrating as you’re doing or that’s after the fact narration ?
If he's not a board certified teacher I'd be surprised. His teaching style is incredible. Mr. Alex Tech has similar way of teaching. They both hold your attention and teach in a way that is so easily understandable.
i've learned a lot from your content (crazy how much in the past week i've gotten used to Fusion) but i was wondering if you could maybe make a video on more complex looping backgrounds-- more specifically, integrating shapes, grids, animation, etc. i saw you have something sort of like that, but i feel like you could go one step further. thank you in advance.
Absolutely brilliant! Could I do it.. no, you lost me after 9mins 30secs just as you said "simple" 😀 but to see what is actually possible was really helpful. You show the versatility of Da Vinci Resolve really well. Thank you. 👍
Up until the 30:00 mark, the text in the title was static, but then from the 30:01 mark forward, the text appears to fold up as the water rises. When/where in the video was this changed/set and what was it changed/set to?
Thank you so much Casey for the tutorial! Fusion is quite intimidating for me and you made it seem so easy. I'll keep this in mind whenever I need to animate scenes.
a new subscriber and thankyou so much! it helping me to make a new animation for kids bcs i work as an animator for kindergarden learning videos and my edit is still stuck until i found this tutorial, thanks alot!
Thanks! This was a good overview of the the types of animations I could get stated with. I assume for something like that fish, you could draw that in a paint tool or use a graphic file. Trying to "draw" with color panels and masks seems rather cumbersome in Fusion.
This is too cute! 😍 I remember another skibear owns the mountain you made, it is cute too. You have wonderful ideas besides the great skills. Not many good fusion graphic animation tutorials on UA-cam. It's not easy to do good works and then teach/present how that works in a cohesive way, thank you for sharing this valuable fusion graphic animation! For your 30 mins video, I need to do many many practices to fully grab it and keep each function in my head🤣
He played a little trick on us. If you watch closely, he did a jump-cut a couple of times to hide it, too. I'm thinking that whatever he did involved something in between those edits... Great for his algo and for us learning.
Really find these videos helpful man I appreciate it. One thing I noticed in the 19 update the nodes are not functioning the same way? Any idea why or how to combat this? Thanks
I made it! I made a jumping fish! Following the video frame by fram I finally made it. Two days and av total mess of nodes and connections. I don't remember haft of what happened but I have six seconds of jumping fish!!! Weoooo!
Great video, jsut wanted to saying its kind of hard to hear. I have my macbook speakers all the way up and the volume up on the video itself and it hard to hear.
G'day Casey :) I really get a lot out of your videos, thanks heaps. I'm new to DR and been using it for around five months, but now starting to explore more with fusion, etc, plus adding plug-in's suggested by you :) Do you do trouble shooting videos? For example, at the moment DR won't save; I go to close DR where I'm asked Save Project Changes > Save is selected, however nothing seems to happen and DR stays open. I have a 2023 Mac with plenty of HDD space available, along with 16GB RAM. Cheers mate :)
Thanks so much once again for these videos Casey. Being able to keep seeing this done and play along has been awesome for getting my head around Fusion. You are a legend!!
I reviewed this video twice. When did you add the animation for the text to warp up with the wave? How do I do it? Anyone know? Casey? Btw, great tutorial.
Hi Casey thanks for the video. But "The 9 Nodes You Need To Make (Almost) Anything in Fusion" video doesn't have a conrols botton to Rewind and Forward etc... and makes the toturial frustrating for the newbe.
Where did you find the water splash stock? I search everywhere for water paint splash circle arc and found nothing even remotely close. My animation is kinda blah without that cool little gizmo
Unfortunately that's exactly the reason I came to this video. So how *did* you do it Casey? Oh, found it, it's in one of the comments below (search for @Imagoofygoober42)
Thanks a lot for the tutorial. There is color distortion in the upper right corner at the beginning of this video. It happens in some videos I render in DaVinci. How can I prevent this?
Big reason is you can't tell at a glance of the nodes which layer is on top of what. With individual merge nodes you can look and see exactly how things connect. My brain works better that way.
OK! I was trying to find a much more complex reason. I understand now, it's because of your brain! 😂Thanks for responding, now I can stop trying to solve the mystery.@@CaseyFaris
Thanks for the vid, I used the tips in here to make a small animation for the start of my vids but it's not exporting... (just says it failed with no other explanation) any idea why this might be happening?

Part of learning this process is finding assets. I don't have the rights to distribute most assets, so you'll have to that part yourself unfortunately. Don't give up! The principles still work even if you don't have the exact assets.
