      Hilarious
      I’m New to resolve. Coming from FCP
      Tried fusion , knew enough to be dangerous , and now I am trapped and lost inside the spline tracker editor. I can’t find my way out and am scared I will die inside here before I find my way out ;)
      I got trapped in here , when I was clicking those funny looking locks. I was clicking and swiping and scroll wheelin trying to fix a bad one that flipped my image for some reason only on one lock. But then when I figured out how to delete the one lock, I FELL THRU THIS CRAZY HOLE , and every lock flipped the image over then these crazy monster green squares appeared and ATTACKED me, and now I’m am constantly falling , like I’m in a BLACKHOLE, and I can’t find my way out, everything is spinning , twirling , all squiirrrllly.
      HEEEELLLLPPPP
      If only there was a TUTORIAL, that would tell me EVERYTHING , specifically about all these tracker locks, and how I can just delete ONE of them so my track just continues, to the other good one, and AND HOW to properly connect 2 seperate tracks on the SAME clip, without the video suddenly JUMPING when it gets to the 2nd tracker in the middle of the clip.
      Boy I might actually PAY for training like that 😂
      .

    Casey, I was always taught that the measure of understanding is the ability to translate the complex to a simple explanation so the average ‘layman’ understands, and you have just proven, once again, you are at the top of the tree in this ability - great stuff 👍

    Hey Casey. you videos on fusion are great in getting us up the learning curve. Very daunting otherwise Much appreciated! I have run into a really bizarre issue though. I have a map that I have turned into a .jpg through Canva (added some stuff on the way and then animated it using paint in fusion. Great! Did this a month ago. Originally it all worked. However now the mere act of going into fusion corrupts the original map image - turns it into very low resolution. This all worked before. I don't understand what is causing this. I have tried to recreate by reimporting the map image which looks fine until i go into Fusion and then bam! corrupted image. Do you have any idea what could cause this? Many Thanks!

      Oh boy. Not sure on that. Update your OS, update Resolve, and update GFX drivers. That will fix things like this sometimes.

    I thank you very much for what you’re doing to help people. Are use this program… Davinci resolve in my daily work. I make very short videos to communicate with my coworkers. BTW, my system will crash when I’m using fusion. I have 16 GB of RAM. I guess I should bump it up to 32. Anyway… If you’d like to do a program about the hardware needed to use this program That would be so beneficial. THANK YOU CASEY FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE!

    That was very helpful. One of the things I have been giving some thought to is wondering if my computer really has enough horsepower to effectively run DR Studio. I am using a Windows based system. It has an AMD Ryzen 5 six-core processer and an AMD Radeon R9 Fury series GPU, I notice that there is a great deal of stuttering and hesitation when trying to scrub back and forth on the Fusion page, and using Magic Mask takes an eternity. Usually, I start Magic Mask before I leave the house to run errands or before I go to bed. When I get back to the computer in a few hours it will have done a perfect job.
    Given this, what do you think my minimum budget-friendly upgrade should be? Thanks.

    • @LandyVlad_Rides
      @LandyVlad_Rides 11 місяців тому +1

      Decent GPU and ideally an nVidia one would be my priority, as studio takes advantage of it for neural engine tasks (like magic mask). Also at least 32GB of RAM.

    Presentation Idea: at about 5:10 you go into describing the nodes. I've seen a few of your videos where you're getting this point across. Here's a minor tweak of an idea to what you're already doing: Choose some simple work you think is easy to get across to the audience, as you do. I'm thinking show that in three steps...
    ...step 1: only show the viewer. Something like "This is the original video and what we'll be doing is adding this effect. Then show video + effect. (Basically no interface yet, just video).
    ...step 2: then, as you do, talk about a fusion effect being a series of steps. But in this you present each thing you're doing as a bullet point, like hand written on a piece of paper. Maybe show that in the "left viewer" and the fusion-y video on the right side. Something like "I'll explain this more fully when we get to the real thing but here I want to get across the fusion nodes (that you'll see in a minute) are just a series of steps like a bullet list. First bullet is the original composition, last bullet is the finished product. And any bullets we add in the middle are to change this (first bullet) into this (last bullet)." Then you quickly run through a short list of half a dozen things that will build what you want - as bullet points.
    ...step 3: "Now lets convert that bullet point, step by step process into fusion-talk, into nodes. Our first bullet point was...(this)...and here's the node for that... blah blah blah, yadda, yadda, yadda...bob's your uncle.
    Words. Takes so many words to say a simple thought that occurred to me while I was watching your video. Not suggesting you 'should' do this - only it was a thought, now its shared, now you can do whatever the heck you want with it. Bazzing! Cheerios!

    Help! I get the "nodes"... they are great; and I've created huge "trees" of nodes! But why can't I first create 4 or 5 layers in the timeline, then switch to Fusion and have those 5 layers show up as "mediaIn" nodes to composite together with node effects? Apparently, you can only take one clip from the timeline into Fusion at a time. That's great if you are adding a bunch of effects to one clip, but what if you have a moving video wall of 4 monitors and want to fill (track) each monitor with individual moving sources, each with their own "look" (focus, TV noise, etc)? I get that you can drag additional clips into Fusion after you start, but they won't be in the sync that you've first chosen in the timeline. Back in the day (I'm old), Avid DS used nodes and timelines together... as many clips as you wanted, perfectly timed and adjustable, right next to the nodes window (also, those nodes could have separate video and alpha paths... very powerful). Also, I saw your gun and smoke demo, but that's too time consuming to add 4 clips and trim, trim, trim until you get it right. Trimming on the timeline is so much better, even if you have to do it before entering Fusion. Please help... this is stopping me from switching from Premier/After effect.

    • @CaseyFaris
      @CaseyFaris  10 місяців тому

      Select all those layers in the timeline... Right click and create fusion clip. Then go to fusion.

    have variety of footage which have different aspect ratio from old tape like VHS,DVCAM,Mini DV,HDV and also FHD footage. when we import these footage then by default all clips have same aspect ratio of sqare 1:1 but i want original aspect ratio. In other software like premiere pro when we import clips then it maintain original aspect ratio of original clips but here all the clips have 1:1 aspect ratio. Here from clip attribute we can change aspect ratio but having 200 to 800 clips in a project , it is not possible to do . Is any setting or any solution to solve this in davinci resolve.

    • @CaseyFaris
      @CaseyFaris  11 місяців тому

      In your timeline settings, maybe play with your scaling settings, that will do things like zoom the image to fill the screen for all the clips etc.
