Hey Wasties! Thank you so much for watching! We had an amazing day filming this! I highly suggest paying Kurri Kurri a visit sometime. We we’re at MeatStock Sydney yesterday. Filming a little bit of cars and a little bit of BBQ! I post regularly on my community tab of what we’ll be getting up to and where we’ll be! ❤
Took me back a long time when I saw the Denman Hotel. Growing up in the 50s & 60s, my grandmother's house was behind the Hotel, in Harle Street. Turned down that side-street beside the hotel a great many times...
OMG THE JOHN!!!! Sometimes we are disappointed things don't turn out the way we want them, because they need time to become even better... I think this is example of that... AND we would have never got a glimpse of his collection either!!
Great episode ol mate! Never had a Drifter, but I once owned an ex Police VJ Ranger with a 265 auto. Was a weapon in a straight line as far as I was concerned lol
Hey Wastie! You're one up on me now brother. I've grown up here, surrounded by Valiants. I've seen Drifters, I've touched Drifters, but never had the pleasure of driving a Drifter.
You bring a new dimension to motoring history, the posts capture ones attention. You put a new spin on motoring down under. Don't forget the Ford Falcon 428 Factory car and the Holden Rotary's. NZ
My dad had a moonstone sportspack panel van with a hot 360 in it, but he still has a white Drifter 318 4 speed panel van with a genuine drifter tent, I love that you are covering these rare cars and its so cool to see someone with the same excitement I have when I see one!
Wastleland - you are doing top job of tracking down Drifters that is awesome. When I got my ute back in the early 2000's I tried to track down other owners and only got to 13, seems you have uncovered a few more survivors keep hunting.
My first car was a Charger back in the 80’s terrible in water it would aqua plane terrible in corners - but a ripper in a straight line with no wind - everybody would give you the charger sign while driving ✌️ The cops back in the day drove chargers around everybody called them Candy Cars. Thanks for sharing Wastie n Mad Skelli.
This American's first drive of an Aussie built classic is a CL Val. Made my year. Two wishes that weren't fulfilled in this feature. A line up of the three and to see how well they did the front of that model. Was chuffed to see a good shot of you driving the drifter van.
@@WastelandFirebird thank you thank you thank you. Saw the white version of the model online. The frontal detailing looks like it's in a funhouse mirror sorry to say. Proportions are way off.
Please show the public the interiors and motors of this fine collection of Drifter Panel van, the Charger Drifter, and the Drifter Ute Please. A great collection of rare Chryslers.
@@WastelandFirebird It's around August / Sept. The Cairns car and bike swapmeet in the far north of QLD . It's about on par with the other big shows you've been to . All the usual stuff like Sandmans and Chargers , not a bad weekend.
I'm all ways a valiant chrysler fan and Holden and ever since the 80s when my dad had a Valiant Charger all ways wanted one hahah these days you have to be rich to own a old car or even a new car hahah, see money does "kinda" give you happiness
I used to be able to buy cars like that cheap. And would pay as much or more now. But now very expensive and more modern cars bore me. Don't know what you have lost til it's gone.
Seems I've suffered a comment removal! 😵 Peter Wherret has tested the VJ Charger 360, CM Valiant Hemi six as well as some Falcons, Toranas and an XD, plus some Japanese cars from the time. He felt no hesitation in saying what he really thought as the cars were still new back then. Very insightful viewing.
@@area51isreal71 The comments he made about the HJ's power steering setup would have applied to any car with power steering at the time. The HJ wasn't unique. Most HJ's were not fitted with power steering anyway.
I am a bit hesitant about correcting what an owner said about the first Valiant Pacer at 13:22, but the Pace was not exactly brought in , but it was developed and built by Chrysler Australia, unlike his 300 : ua-cam.com/video/dv-1x1sPiTk/v-deo.html as a bargain performance car at the time compared to other much more expensive cars on sale then. Excellent vid mate, I’m very glad you got to meet John and see the 3 drifters. He’s got a phenomenal collection I certainly tip my hat to him…
