I have been self employed for 18 years and grafted my ass off, this is exactly what i want to do. This has given me some inspiration to go and book a lesson. Fantastic video. well done after only a few hours.
Just done my first solo today. Amazing how all the nerves slip away as soon as soon as you stick in full power on the runway. It’s just you and the plane then, nobody else can help you. Amazing feeling.
Well done !!!! You will never forget the first one. Or the last! Did mine at 17 and 17800 hours later at 58, did my last. World is your Sir, Aeros, visiting Europe, Breakfast patrols or even, commerical!
Hey James...Great video...! Brought back lots of memories. I drive 777/787’s for a day job but love a bit of plumbing as a hobby, which is how I found you. Fantastic videos and thanks for all the time you put in. 👍😬
Very well done James; a lovely landing especially given that the aircraft handles differently with just one person in it. Been watching PlumberParts for ages and really pleased to find your new channel. You will love solo navigation once you get to it.
One of the best solo videos I've seen. It helps when you narrate exactly what you are doing in the cockpit and comment on your mistakes. Although the accent was a challenge, I got what you were saying. Great job.
Congratulations James on both the flight AND the voice over. I watch a lot of "First Solo Flight videos" and yours is by far the best. I know all the emotions and feelings you went through cos I did my first solo in 1994 aged 53 at the end of my 10th hour. It is, as you rightly say, a truly "Once in a Lifetime" experience and one you will never forget. Once again congratulations and thank for the video. Regards Michael Chartres
Very well done James. What an achievement. So very pleased for you. You are treading in the footsteps of the Battle of Britain pilots here at Duxford and you gave them a very worthy show.
Excellent video! Been watching your plumbing channel for years. Really enjoying your new channel as well. Loved the Chernobyl, drone and flying videos! Nice one mate.
Watched your videos for over a year since I moved into my first house which is proper leaky! Im about 7 hours into my PPL so will be doing my solo soon hopefully so was really cool seeing you upload this! Really enjoy your videos 👍 Congratulations BTW awesome achievement. Hold tight 😄
Well done mate. I have my CAA Drone practical this afternoon. Like you were, I’m inspired to take the next step and do flight training. I had better start saving
Well done on going solo mate (although I'm a bit late to the party)! I'm currently studying for the Air Law and Operational Procedures exams and getting my medical done so I can finally go solo as well. Really enjoyed the commentary as it was entertaining and it helped me learn a few bits from you as well! :)
Nice one mate, just came across this channel and going to subscribe. Wanting to start my PPL later this year and going to watch as many videos on here before I start.
Nice one James. Any landing you walk away from is a gudun, as they say. Congrats on your qualifying x-country. I learned to fly a good few years ago at Tollerton, Nottingham in a Chipmunk. Good times.
Love your plumbing vids James but this is on another level, total respect for anyone who does their PPL, the adrenalin rush on a first solo must be off the scale. Well done though mate, I'll keep my eyes peeled for you in the skies above north Essex.
I'm in Stisted mate, not far from Halstead. Also got Earle's Colne airfield close by so always plenty of light aircraft about, all making sure they steer well clear of the approach to Stansted! 😬
Yeah that was very kool to watch. I am very interested in learning how to fly & absolutely love watching these solo flights with all the procedures & all. Very helpful for beginners to see. I was also very happy for you after that landing, felt like i just watched my own mate do it lol. Thanks for the vid mate 😉
Ha ha, good stuff! I recorded a video of my first solo too. You did good to only have 11 hours before your first solo. I came in too fast on my first solo landing and bounced down the runway lol. In the US we have to do 3 laps so I did two more which were better than the first. I enjoyed your enthusiasm at having accomplished a major goal. I know it’s been 5 years ago that you did this but congrats anyway!
That was a freakin Spitfire you taxied by! I have to make it to the UK to see all the aviation museums. Good job on your solo! Do they cut your shirttail off after your first solo in the UK? Nice catch on the carb heat. My first solo was in 1969 at 10:00 pm at KEMT El Monte , California. I’ve been flying as a corporate pilot for 38 years now and retiring in 3 weeks. I still remember my first solo like it was yesterday. Good luck on your flying.
Nice job dude did mine this time lat week after 14 hours, your very positive on the controls, seem quite confident! I had trouble with float as well mate I didnt think my instructor would take that much weight off! Looked over the footage and i was a little fast on the approach i'll try hold 70 knots better next time!
Great to see someone local (I fly from Sibson EGSP just up at Peterborough). I too am earlier hour ppl pilot and have just come across your videos and really like them.
Thank you sooooo much for this video… I’ve got a double flying lesson today and it could be my solo flight time..eek ! Your video has helped me to realise that I’m pretty much at the same point as you were on so fingers crossed..make sure I feel the Bumfich checks right and my instructor says you have control and I’m getting out … thank you again and I will look at your other videos on flying after this stage.. 😀
Well done mate - I'm a couple of hours away of doing my first solo so could feel the adrenaline. haha. They say a landing you can walk away from is a good one, but this one was spot on.
Nice one mate. I didnt even know you was learning to fly until this video. And im pretty sure your the first person to ever go off roading in an airplane.... never seen it before. Fly safe bro, i wish you all the best :)
Congratulations mate, that's one flight you will never ever forget! I smiled feeling the same as I did when I first solod. I spotted the carb heat. And should have said Wilco on report finals... don't forget speed is pitch and throttle is descent rate 😉 well done sir 👏👍🍻
@@TimesWithJames well done mate! 👏 you're..... (ready for it?)...... flying through 😂 sorry mate couldn't resist! For me the better feeling of being a real pilot wasn't my first solo it was my cross country qualifier! Now that's an achievement! Where do you fly for yours? Mine was gloucester-leicester-tatenhill
Didn't hear you report final to the FISO/ATC ? Come and try flying a glider at Essex Gliding Club, Ridgewell - every landing is a power pilot's emergency :-)
Well done. Reminds me when my mate took me out in his little plane flying over Silverstone. Didn't realise they bobbled about as much as they so and it didn't have radar. Collision detection system = your eyes!
Hi Guys, *_STILL UPLOADING TODAY_* so please *SUBSCRIBE!*❤

Mate, a genuinely inspiring video! As someone who is really into aviation and is thinking about maybe going for his PPL, this was great to watch!
Takes me back to my first solo ..Over 20 years ago now ..but you are correct ..you only do it once and it sticks with you ..
I have been self employed for 18 years and grafted my ass off, this is exactly what i want to do. This has given me some inspiration to go and book a lesson. Fantastic video. well done after only a few hours.
Do it Ash! You’ll not regret it!
Must be quite something! A solo flight after just 10 hours or so of flight instruction. I know this was 2018, nonetheless, well done! Joy to watch ;)
Just done my first solo today. Amazing how all the nerves slip away as soon as soon as you stick in full power on the runway. It’s just you and the plane then, nobody else can help you. Amazing feeling.
even on flight simulator steam edition i get nervous landing
Haha!
Omg same 🤣
Yup.
Love this video .. just booked my second lesson (still bricking it) and this has reassured me that I’m not alone packing about my eventual first solo
You got this!
Few better feelings than controlling an aircraft yourself for the first time! Well done. 😁
Thanks!

Well done! I am hoping to start my PPL soon-ish as well :) really nicely done on the video side as well, top-notch narration!
Congrats man, I see this with a bit of envy. I'd wish I could afford it right now. Enjoy flying!
One of the best solo videos I've seen. It helps when you narrate exactly what you are doing in the cockpit and comment on your mistakes. Although the accent was a challenge, I got what you were saying. Great job.
HAha! Thanks Fred. Please sub, I've just done a video on RT exams for flying.
"Don't forget to lock the door" is exactly what I was told as they got out.
Haha! It is rather important!
Absloute fantastic video mate just come across whilst starting my own PPL journey very helpful
I remember my first solo. It was in my dad's Piper Cherokee 140. Ole 68 Juliet. Never forget her. Kepp flying my friend. Keep flying.

Very well done James. What an achievement. So very pleased for you. You are treading in the footsteps of the Battle of Britain pilots here at Duxford and you gave them a very worthy show.
Thanks mate. I researched average training hours for an utterly green non pilot to a fighter pilot. 13 hours on average. That’s crazy.
WELL DONE JAMES YOU CLEVER BOY!!! I'm so impressed. You'll be a great instructor one day. Congratulations and TYFS.
You never cease to amaze me.........you are the best! HOLD TIGHT!!!
Fantastic video! Seeing you land and then celebrate was awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this
The one flight that will live on, in every detail, for the rest of your life mate! Tidy landing too!
