Transmission/converter is what typically wipes out the thrust bearing… Too much pump pressure ramming the converter into the crank, or the converter is ballooning.
I don't know what converter Zack was using with that GS Pro 4L85e but I would hope it was billet and good for anti-ballooning. Pump Pressure sure lets see what 300 psi will do lol
yup those 7.2 truck motors ant made for this type of power..stock they delaminate the rollers on the lifters. Look at all of the other zilla projects on the internet. Built or not..your better off with a coyote.. cars make wild power with boost and fuel on stock long blocks.
Cleetus had a 7.3 in McFlurry making shit load of power. Yeah he swapped it for the coyote but it wasn't for lack of power, it was cuz he wanted to go above 6800rpm.

the F150 has a coyote, mcflurry had the turbo godzilla until they killed it then switched to the coyote in that one as well. the problem with the godzilla is there just isn't enough part development for it right now to hit high horsepower numbers. texas speed and a few others are trying but they still have a long road ahead of them.

I gotta be honest, I wanted to like the original build videos and I did watch every one of them but the pacing and weird spotlighting got dry after awhile. This format fits so much better and I'm stoked to see this project finished!
Just make sure when they are setting the trans/tq converter up with different spacing you account for where the crank is supposed to be not with the thrust washer missing, in pieces lol. I had a thrust bearing go on a 454 c30 the only way I found out is the trans would squeal a little in reverse

any engine builder here will tell you, after metal contamination- always a new oil pump, and have to clean every oil port. only way it wont blow up again. either way cant wait for more content from you Zach. if you got merch link it plz. 🎉🎉
At least you caught it before something catastrophic failed. Doing some light polishing on the cam and crank with a usable block is a lot more manageable than needing new... Well, probably would have needed damn near everything if the crank moved enough or the oil journals to the rotating assembly sucked up enough powdered horsepower😂.
Did the torque convertor expand from too much power ? I built a 454 for a motorhome a few years back . The thrust bearing did the same thing . The owner was a little too happy with the new found hp. Might want to talk look into a built th400 with a billet convertor .
Its likley the converter charge pressure that caused the thrust to get knocked out. That increased the distance of the converter pull out distance. Make sure the oil pump is rebuilt. Id replace all ail lines if you cant replace them flush everything. When its back together get a trans expert to set up the charge pressure.
I loved watching the Waylon build series. Unfortunate whaf has happened to the old mate. You're the man though, I'm sure you will figure it out. Absolutely love your editing man.
Brother. I had thrust washers take out and engine on one of my old dailies. I felt this pain, but that was from a weak thrust washer and an agressive clutch to hold some more boost. That only cost 12k though, couldnt imagine 40k down the drain that quick 😅
This is as good as Hoonigan ever was. I was bummed about the downfall but I've realized that now I have several excellent channels where there once was one. The editing style, the production and presentation is all on point. I'm okay with how it went now.
All the negativity towards the Godzilla. Ford didn't build it as a performance engine, it's a work truck engine being pushed to the next level by guys like Zac and Cleetus. People forget that the LS was a complete turd when it came out, so many were swapped under warranty it would be extremely rare to find an early C5' Vette or F body still running it's original LS.
How come nobody greases the engine mounting plate when they put it on the engine stand? It kinda shouldnt be that hard to roll the block over, even with a big block.
damn that is a lot of power. Billet filters rule. I keep one on the engine just for driving a manual trans...you might guess, I check for thrust materials. it happens to any engine really.
