Love that Madness hasn't lost their signature style over the years.
Interesting isn't it. Some bands get criticised for never moving away from their core and trying new things. Chili Peppers get a lot of this...people say that all their albums sound the same. Madness similar (although not exactly the same) but everyone loves their stuff no matter what.

Madness are a rare breed, ageing like fine wine. Making better and better new music with time.
When sadly most others becomes sort of a tribute band to themselves.
I struggled to listen again to Madness, not because they are 'bad' but I introduced my soulmate and love of my life to Madness (She me to Faithless).
Last year I took a monster step and got tickets to see them in the O2 in Leeds. Tears streaming down my face to the songs we both ❤️
I miss her so much and Madness is again a nice way to remember her after her terrible long death fight...

Madness have dropped a new song, Baby Burglar, inspired by a real-life home burglary experienced by the band's longtime saxophonist, Lee Thompson.
In a surprising twist, Thompson reveals he's become more sympathetic towards the burglars, reflecting on his own 'youthful straying from the straight and narrow.'
Madness shared that the song tells the story of Lee discovering a midnight intruder in his house and how it reminded him of his own youthful misadventures.
In their own words, the band said of the song: “The story behind Baby Burglar is actually quite a funny one…it's about Lee finding a midnight meddler loose in his house and how it reminded him of his younger self and all the shenanigans we used to get up to when we were whippersnappers.

It was Lee Thompson sax player that got burgled during lockdown. This was Lee's former career before madness. So now Lee knows all about being on the other side.

I compare this to songs like "In the Middle of the Night" and "Mummy's Boy" and feel that Madness have lost their subtlety when it comes to painting pictures of characters on the road to self-destruction.
First time I heard this (live in Aberdeen) I thought WTF is this nonsense. but 2 years on and I get it. Like so many other songs they have released first 10 times wasn't for me but like for example, Mr Apples, it grows and soon becomes a favourite. The new album was a hard listen but again, grows on you :) Loved Madness since 1979, even have a rathger large madness Tatt! They can do no wrong :)
You have to understand what the new album is all about. Then it makes perfect sense. I got it the first time.

You have to understand that people actually have varied musical tastes and to come onto social media trying to call people out for not being the same as you is all rather childish. We are all entitled to an opinion. Just because yours varies doesn't make you right. Until this album was released Norton fall gate had a similar reception as did rise and fall. Why? Because it veered away from their original beat. Oldies who have followed the band for the 4 decades have had issues accepting this new album, it's that simple. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant.

Been a fan since 1979 my girl 1st single went out with a lad at 21 that looked like suggs flat top skinhead too named my son Daniel after woody omg seen them live at aintree sat in my wheelchair karl was amazing getting photos of everyone waving at me brilliant night helping my husband out with recording my favourite songs brilliant band all 4 of my kids loved you growing up now my 16m old grandson Oliver Daniel yep woody again after his uncle Dan hope to see you all soon 54 this April keep me young guys xxx
