      Absolutely a sweet color choice! Actually, just about my only options in their build-a-trailer form that I could see as a must have

    I would like to thank Hiker Trailer for making a series of such affordable trailers. I see the same thing happening in the small trailer industry today as I do in the car market industry - a complete neglect of good quality low cost units in favor of higher-end models that offer more profit margin. The auto industry has essentially abandoned the $25K sedan market in favor of >$50K SUV/pickup market. The same thing since the pandemic has clearly taken place in the small trailer market. As the industry saw camping take off, they jacked up prices and began to make them feature-rich, leaving the low cost market behind. Hiker is bucking this trend, and they deserve the attention they've been getting. Hiker is showing that, yes, you CAN get NuCamp or (insert company here) quality for Bushwhacker prices! 😁

      As usual Tom, I think you’re right on the money with your comment, pun noticed but not intended.
      This is part of the reason why I wanted to capture some time with the people behind the camper in the videos. I have a one hour interview recorded with the president of the company, I may or may not release it. I think it’s great but I’m not sure how many people would watch it.
      Robbie and Bob use their product and are absolute enthusiasts. They actually attend the rallies, expos and gatherings and talk to people using the camper. They take the modifications they see, along with the feedback and make changes. Of course they are running a business and need to make a buck, and they are, but the pride they take in their brand can’t be faked and it shows. I give them an A+. Now I have to search for some other outfits like this.

      @@crispusattucks6094 I will work on putting that out.
      I think people are a lot more afraid of wood builds then they have to be. There are wooden trailers on the road since the 50s that are in great shape still. You just have to make sure they don't leak, and I'm 100% confident that these guys are building trailers that will last a very long time.
      I appreciate you tuning in, more videos to come. Make sure to use our promo code to save a couple bucks if youre considering going hiker.

    I was in the woods cutting wood, stopped to gas up the saw, and saw DIY Outdoor Life had dropped the video on the Hiker Extreme. Found a stump and took a break to watch it! I had been waiting on this one. Awesome build. More off road capability built into that than we would ever need but would great to have.
    I would like to do a comparison pull between their square drop design and a traditional tear drop like we have to see the difference. Frontal area on the trailer can make more of a difference in some cases than the actual weight of the trailer, especially in the case of smaller tow vehicles.

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  Рік тому +2

      Haha… thank you, seems like a good environment to watch this video in.
      I do have some questions about how it pulls compared to a teardrop. I suspect most of the front will be shielded from the tow vehicle aerodynamically. I do think the flat back will create quite a drag. Excited to test it out for myself, wish I had the budget of myth busters!

    I've had the Extreme Offroad for a year now. I can't say enough good things about this company, a really great group of people! Everywhere I stop people are so impressed with this trailer, it's like a man cave on wheels. I hope they don't start making 2 doors standard, I for one don't want 2 doors it takes away some usable wall space inside. Anyway, thanks for doing videos of their trailers and getting the word out about this awesome company. We plan on taking our trailer and Jeep from Texas all that way up to Tuktoyaktuk, Alaska this summer. So far we've been Petrified forest, The blue hole, New Mexico, MOAB, Grand Canyon, Zion, Telluride, and a ton of other places. In the snow or extreme heat this trailer is 1000% better than a rooftop tent, and it makes your Jeep look even cooler too!

    The huge storage box in the front will not affect the tongue weight ?

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  Рік тому +1

      It definitely does, but remember tongue weight is a balance. The crew their is excellent, they make sure their setting up trailers that will work with your tow vehicle.
      With smaller tow vehicles, you might be limited on front box options, but they manage to build the trailer well balanced with whatever options you choose.

  • @ajf5823

    I wish they would go with a composite, lighterweight material and use Timberen off road axles. A 2 DR Wrangler can't pull an Extreme Off Road with a Tow limit 2000lbs

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  Рік тому

      Some lighter weight options are always good. Although this is a beast, a 2dr jeep will be close to its max towing this. The average weight of the EOR is 2100#, although the white one in the beginning of the video is significantly less than that.

    why the extreme off road model has has 4” less ground clearance than the mid range XL?

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  Рік тому +1

      It doesnt. I think the overall clearance of each model depends on configuration, with water tank or without.

  • @freetaylor72
    @freetaylor72 Рік тому +1

    Hey, on all the models they have like the 5x9, and 5x10, are all the interior cabin sizes 5x8? Could you get a bigger cabin size?

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  Рік тому +2

      Yes, the 8',9' and 10' option changes the size of the cabin, along with a few other things.

    • @freetaylor72
      @freetaylor72 Рік тому +1

      @@DIYOutdoorLife yea cause I'm looking at the mid range xl pro and it's a 10' with the 24" galley, but I'd rather have more room in the cabin, for shelves

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  Рік тому +1

      @@freetaylor72 they have an option for a MR XL 10' with a shorter galley, more room in cabin. Most folks find theres enough room for both, shelves and storage inside AND the 24" galley with the 10' model, it's nice that they can customize it either way though.

    Without a toilet, the low to high price points are not going to work for most (you cannot write off interest without a toilet).

    • @DIYOutdoorLife

      I can understand that for sure. There’s definitely different needs for folks, no bathrooms offered in campers of this size.
