I love the fact that you matched the rims and tyres - I always thought that was a no-brainier until I started looking closely at a lot of the trailers being towed out there.
Wow. I feel like I just sat through a PhD dissertation on Logic. Watched a couple of Matt's videos earlier, then this gem of "how to live off grid" hits you. Thanks Matt and certainly Taylor, who has built the most practical mobile platform. Communications (internet access, voip, IoT @ broadband speed) is a natural upgrade. That's my gig. This is a really compelling trailer and I'm happy to have stumbled across Matt's interest & expertise. Well done and happy to be a new subscriber. Cheers!
Taylor: incredibly concise review of a well thought out trailer. Bravo! Thanks for sharing. We are getting ready to spec out an off Road hiker and your build provides some great build ideas.
Matt, I am comparing this Intech Chase. Both has no water tank, propane, or sink/stove (I opt out). The Intech Chase cost around $12000. Can negotiate. Again, I choose to opt out many many things because I can bring my own and save a lot of money by not buying from the manufacturer.
So much video goodness right here..! This was an awesome walk around, I totally dig that you got so detailed on your electrical system, THANK YOU for that..! And I really dig the roof net for scarves and hats, it's a cool "pro" trick..! And making coffee in bed, you rock..! And that back tire swinger, and yeah, I did watch it twice, the second time I had a note pad to take notes... LOL
The way the rear stabilizer jacks drop down is awesome. I have an Intech because i needed more flexibility to use it as an equipment hauler, but I must say Hiker trailers a very well thought out.
I wish I had watched this video before my build, my EOR has a right swinging spare and my galley door opens just like yours...major PITA...wish they'd make it standard....Nice video, thanks Matt! And thanks Taylor for the tour!!
Fantastic use of limited storage space and functional design. Trailer looks tough as nails. Surprised seeing a axle. I would've thought some kind of independent suspension would be incorporated in the build since the trailer looks so offroad ready. Thanks for sharing.
NICE!! I'm planning to order my Hiker next summer & was totally going with the mid range. Now I'm not sure. She has thought of all the options I want. The addition of the water tank may be my tipping point!!
@@MWDAdventures Well, I'm single, 65 ,retiring next year then hitting the road. I want it to be easy to pull & take to interesting boondocking spots. My 1st trip will be the Al-can to Anchorage to see my son & family & spend the summer exploring Alaska. This setup hit most of my bells. The water tank was a gong :-) And you need the off road's clearance for that.
Definitely a nice walk around and well done trailer. I do have a question regarding insulation (lack thereof) in the walls in hot climates... ?? Any regrets ? do you see huge advantage/disadvantage one not having insulation other than weight and space utilisation obviously ?
This is another level of overland bad-A. I could live with my pup in that setup. the reason for the fridge being in the tow vehicle is spot on. I never thought of that. I always either double witha cooler in it or suffered warm snacks and drinks. LOL. just fantastic.
$22k at time of purchase, including all the cool stuff- 33" tires and so on? the deep cell batteries & solar panel & electrical connections etc? thanks
I would have added the 46TM1 Solar Charger and a 66NET panel with the most effective F202169 connections to allow you to use 2000W through a direct impact connector (Y6NB101) or any alternative parts such as the M2201-B models. All on all, the best gear must include an F67MN loader fo the best outcome. Great setup.
I love that size trailer not hard to pull not much to fix on it capable of getting where you would not dare take a 16 ft Jayco or Winnie Minnie. teardrops and square drops are the ultimate to get anywhere camping.
Wow that camper has basically everything you need! Well designed and thought out. I am on the fence about putting the cooler/fridge in the back of galley or in the trunk of your car. Anyone else out there have this dilemma pls provide the cons/pros of either choice. Finally, after the trailer was supped up, what was the final cost, incl all options and add-ons? if you don't mind. :) Thank you for the vid! Very informative. Cheers,
Well done very nice set up. The lights on the bottom of the rock rails look like they would be damaged in off roading. Perhaps add the lights to the inside of the rails instead of the bottom.
@@MWDAdventures I just stumbled across another company out here that's a hard contender on this version. earthshipoverland.com/services/ Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see what I mean.
Do you agree or nice where are you too far off from y’all I’m down in Florida I’m trying to give me one of the trailers just to camp around home that was very nice of y’all to introduce and maybe gave me some ideas of what to do
Awesome setup. I like the idea with having the cooler in the car. Especially when in bear country. Would not want to have the bear tear apart my sleeping quarters.
Beautiful. I think this is the way I wanna go. Just be careful when you have longer bungee cords. They can knock out teeth if they accidentally come loose.
The Extreme Off Road is built to go off road - Moab type trails. So it should be able to handle rough 4x4 trails. The build quality is great - not like what you find at a typical RV lot.
Matt, thank you for making this video. Taylor, HOLY COW what an amazing setup! I love everything you did with that trailer. Can you or Matt post what the tow weight and tongue weights are with a fully loaded setup? I have a 4 door Jeep Wrangler, so am curious if my 3500lbs tow max and 350 lbs tongue weight max would work or if this is too heavy for my Jeep. THANK YOU for sharing!!!
Silver Fox- Great video and an even better build out. There was a question in the comments about overall weight and tongue weight of this build. Wa that question ever answered? Matt- Please continue to do what you and your wife do. They are an excellent source of information. Have a blessed day
Great video. This seems trivial to some, but where did you come by the spice holders on the wall? I've looked for something similar and haven't been able to find them. Thanks for any help you can give.
Hello! I love this video. I might have watched it a couple times lol.. I wanted to ask if you have a hot water heater and how often you actually use it? Or if you don't have it is it something you would suggest new purchasers get? Thank you !
I realize they're hitting a very competitive/attractive price point with their trailers, but any thoughts about moisture/mold long-term with the wood panel construction?
Matt Jacques I have had mine for a year now and no condensation issues. Condensation is cracking a top vent for breath and a side window. I also use a mat under my mattress. Check out my channel for my talk on condensation . No issues with wood.
Well planned & thought out design I will be stealing several of your ideas. ;) How much did the whole setup set you back? Initial cost plus add ons? I am building a stealth camper from my 6' x 10' construction trailer and am at the decision as to what refrigerator to buy. Any thoughts? I love the whole idea of the rugged larger tow vehicle comparable wheels as well as the leveling system.
Awesome setup Taylor, newly separated from my wife of 30 years and I need some space to clear my head and i think you have provided me with the right space to do it....thanks be safe!
BAD ASS trailer camper... Gives me some great ideas for mine.
Grow up son and stop spewing immature vulgarity. How pathetic.
This is by far one of the more informative walk-through. Well done!
dude went all out on his trailer added some useful
mods nice trailer
Awesome tour! So much inspiration gained for when we finally get our Hiker Trailer! Thank you!
I love the fact that you matched the rims and tyres - I always thought that was a no-brainier until I started looking closely at a lot of the trailers being towed out there.
My biggest concern with the available off road campers is storage space. You have given me numerous economical ides for that. Thank you!
Fantastic job! My favorite takeaway is using straps and bungee cords to secure everything. Thank you for sharing.

Incredibly well thought out. I'll be stealing some of these ideas on my own camper trailer. Thanks for sharing!
That trailer is super impressive! I love all the organization it's so well thought out.
That is a AWESOME trailer
Now I'm conflicted. Nice video and very informative. Thank you
I got like 20 ideas for my hiker trailer this is awesome 😎
Best looking set up I've seen. Well thought out and half the price of some of the other off road trailers.
Very good video. I've watched it multiple times since you released it.

As a south Texan that camps the gulf coast some Im more concerned with having an A/C. I can bring a gas powered generator

There is NO doubt this, all in, with ad-ons and equipment is $27-30,000. But for what that gives you, worth it!
That was a superb video and your explanations and ideas were fantastic. Very grateful that you shared it. Way to go!!
Absolutely dialed in
The way the rear stabilizer jacks drop down is awesome. I have an Intech because i needed more flexibility to use it as an equipment hauler, but I must say Hiker trailers a very well thought out.
This was refreshing. Most women aren't that handy or knowledgeable of all the technical specs.

Fantastic use of limited storage space and functional design. Trailer looks tough as nails. Surprised seeing a axle. I would've thought some kind of independent suspension would be incorporated in the build since the trailer looks so offroad ready. Thanks for sharing.
The loss of independent suspension is part of why the cost of this trailer is lower than most others...
Though air suspension is pretty nice..😊
Love love love the entire set up !!!
WOW... Taylor's setup is awesome, Mahalo for your review
Love the Rig & how its set-up... Some great Ideas! I have been looking to purchase....

Love the set up! Can you tell me where you got the organizer on the back door?
I believe it was amazon
Very nice I like that setup
Great setup!!
Great video with lots of information! Maybe a silly question, but how do solve the „bathroom“ question?
campground that is easy. off grid there are many options from portable toilets to digging a hole it all depends on your level of comfort.
Thanks for the video !
Great walk around extremely informative and helpful. I fell in love with this #hikertrailer . TY
Well done very nice set up. The lights on the bottom of the rock rails look like they would be damaged in off roading. Perhaps add the lights to the inside of the rails instead of the bottom.
Mark Haynes good idea.
Sweet rig. Well laid out. I am currently in a Winnebago Micro Minnie getting ready to scale down to that size platform. Safe travels y'all.
The seal job around the solar panel and roof fan are not well done. What’s the rest of the Hiker quality like? You know, the stuff we can’t see.

Awesome trailer! I’m uneasy having gasoline next to batteries. Is this a concern or not? Thanks for the video ✌🏻
It shouldn't be a problem, but you can place them how you feel comfortable. Some people mount the RotopaX on the side of their trailers too.
Nice trailer
Thats a nice setup newbie here going to get one of those
