After a couple minutes of 'Google' research, I found that most ball bearings are “case hardened”, allowing the core to retain elasticity under load. Using a pair of vise-grips or a vice, you could grind a small flat spot onto the ball bearing. Clamping it into a drill press vice, you could (slowly) drill a 3/16" hole through the ball bearing - and then drill a 1/4" - 5/16" hole about halfway though. Your impact tool could then be simply suspended by a single length of paracord - thereby eliminating the need to wrap the ball in a monkey-fist knot... When you're done, it would be kinda like 'half' a set of Begleri beads - and you would be able to strike much harder surfaces with the bare steel ball without the worry of damaging the Monkey Fist. Wondering (also) if the 1" bearing was heated to red hot with a propane torch and then allowed to air-cool, it would then be 'annealed' - making it softer and easier to drill through. Then, after all the drilling, de-burring and chamfering were completed, it could then be heated to red-hot again and quickly quenched to again harden the steel. The different colors you could obtain on the ball itself from heating and quenching might make a good contrast of colors with different colors of paracord. You could also use larger diameter paracord for the lanyard. I also wonder - although not recommended because of safety issues - You could actually make them into an abnormally large set of Begleri Beads and play with them like vintage 'Clackers'. Anyway - Those are 'my' BB-In-A-Can runaway thoughts after watching this recent content - Thank you, for sharing! 👊
Jesus!! That is not the point at all. It's about creativity and art, learning to weave the cord into a traditional knot. Threading a steel ball on a bit of cord is pointless, ugly looking in comparison, bound to snap the cord and your theory of annealing and then heat treating is quite puerile. Quickly quenching makes it fragile! Try searching for martensite. More learning, less weed.
@@elmodiddly The point is that the TITLE describes this as an IMPACT tool. And although I forgot to mention sticking it in an oven afterwards for a couple of hours, the heat-treating would increase the ball bearing resiliency to HARD impacts. Wasn't a requirement, just a suggestion. The ONLY reason to wrap a ball bearing in a monkey-fist knot was so you could attach a cord to it, but I offered an alternative means. So please refrain from using the Lord's name in vain on a Sunday and pop a Midol or two.
@@thelaw2687 you can state that on youtube, but I wouldn't be so confident in Oklahoma, California, Michigan, Arizona, North Carolina and a lot of countries outside the US, like Germany, where carrying, sometimes even making them is illegal.
So please refrain from using the Lord's name in vain on a Sunday and pop a Midol or two.
wow
I'll make those. I just ordered the bearings and paracord .
Nice video ....nice intro .....my Nickname is the Hammer 😂
Thankyou for doing this sir.
While this is super interesting, a monkey fist is considered a weapon in many countries. PLEASE GOOGLE YOUR LAWS BEFORE MAKING ONE, FOLKS!

@CatRacer1a2a ...until they're locked up.
It's a keychain
@@thelaw2687 you can state that on youtube, but I wouldn't be so confident in Oklahoma, California, Michigan, Arizona, North Carolina and a lot of countries outside the US, like Germany, where carrying, sometimes even making them is illegal. Those are just some examples, this list is nowhere near complete.
Will this keep the soul devouring aliens from the bootes void eho are disguised as Girl Scouts trying to sell cookies at bay?
What he didn't discuss is how much paracord you need to use

@@TheWeaversofEternity ohh there it is stupid me wasn't paying attention, i still did it anyway with the help of your video, thumbs up
this guy just showed us how to tie a noose 💀
Your length of 213cm is to short, the best lengh in cm is 260cm than it is long enaugh for a good end result

Thanks for the tut! But whats the thingy you are doing this thing with? This orange thing!!!???
If you're referring to the orange rope, it's 550 paracord, a type of rope that can be used for utility and crafting.
