Kaege Retro Porsche 911: The Joker
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- Two years ago, we featured a “Kaege Retro 911” after being thoroughly impressed by what its creator, Roger Kaege, was able to put together out of a 993 and an array of OEM Porsche parts. We weren’t the only ones who took notice, and today we’re featuring William Lai’s Kaege-customized Porsche pride and joy. Initial searches for what you could call “high-end hot-rod” 911s led William to Singer of course, but he was swayed by the fact that Kaege used a 993 base rather than an older 964, with the use of OEM parts being an added bonus in terms of maintenance and replaceability. Indeed as William points out, every piece that you can take off of the base chassis is new, from the fully rebuilt engine to every last strand of the wiring harness. When it comes to personalized Porsches, or any marque of course, it all comes down to subjective preference, but as William alludes to, it’s impossible not to notice the people putting up thumbs and peace signs when he drives by.

I never thought hearing an Asian businessman say ‘bad ass car’ would give me so much joy.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I laughed as well 😂
Same here, he said it with a straight face, but still said it 🤣
Saying it in English.
Rice courage 🤣
0:46 i love how the front-right wheel dose not spin, when mounting that ramp.
A German car - inspired by American comic books, and owned by an Asian man who speaks English. Clearly, this guy is a citizen of the world!
Everyone in Hong Kong Speaks English Although not many speak it well!
copied from an American overhaul, which is run by an Englishman
Or, more likely, THE SCUM OF THE AUTOMOTIVE COMMUNITY!!!!
That's the world at its best rare enough
but with good taste, could be many citizen worlds man but with good taste a few.
"A car is made to be driven"
Roihan54 It‘s quite sad that he has to explicity say that. All these expensive hypercars are meant to push to boundairies of what is possible yet they sit in a garage never being able to see the light of day.
@@iamwritingrightnow8217
yeah, i liked that he said that because it's what i was thinking. i'd like to think that if i had a lot of money i wouldn't buy cars that i would hardly drive. i'd like to think that i'd rent them because i want to drive them but im not much of a car person and i'd only really own a lot of cars to show off my wealth. but i can also see owning a lot because you fell for the feel of it and then you keep getting something subjectively better than the last.
YES!
As someone of a Cantonese background who's grown up watching Hong Kong crime drama films, there's something really romantic and erotic about seeing a 911 drive through Hong Kong. This guys has mad Chow Yun Fat boss vibes haha. Hoping Petrolicious does more international pieces with global locations and regional car classics!
Give me top 3 list of those movies please.
You want kickass Hong Kong movies, starring Chow Yun-fat?
Watch, the John Woo movies he starred in:
"The Killer",
"Better Tommorrow part 1 & 2"
"Hard Boiled"
I think Chow Yun-fat, even in his gangster mode, would sound more relaxed. Back to the Porsche, about 13 years ago, I had the opportunity to take a ride in a 993 from Hong Kong Island back to Kowloon. One word: Awesome!
found another porsche video from HK
ua-cam.com/video/Az3IHRgL8-s/v-deo.html
I've met him before, he's a cool guy real down to earth, also a real OG
That’s a beautiful purple. I love the Joker theme. Great vehicle and great owner.
This is something else... Kudos to the owner, respect, this car is a life achievement, nothing more, nothing less!
A purple Porsche would be the ideal villain’s car like the Joker
Amazing car!! I find it better than a Singer in every way.
From the 4:00 mark onwards, Mr Lai perfectly explains what "drive tastefully" means.
0:47 wheel in the air
My Cayman does the same thing on my mums driveway.. Gotta love Porsche!
Finally someone who got it right, "SOME parts have no speed limit"
"A car is made to be driven." No truer words have ever been spoken.
Except when it comes to Porsches, of course......
Unless it's a Ferrari. Ferraris are meant to be looked at and porsche are meant to be driven.
YES!
that car is on the official Kaege website. I was wondering whose it was.
Refreshing after seeing so many Singer 911s.
Great car, sad to see people buying 993's to turn them into restomoded 930/911's though...wish that market wasn't so crazy expensive!!! Even the 912's are huge money.
First time seen a Petrolicious video shooting in Hong Kong. I find all elements are very close to me where I'm living in now. The feeling is so different than other videos in this channel. I wish to see more videos shooting in HK in the future. Very pround of the 911 and the owner in this video. 😊😊
Those of us who live in the Porsche world often have the "993 vs 964" debate. I am forever firmly entrenched in the 964 side (I've got two, both of which I bought long before prices skyrocketed.) But this is one high-level, hot rod 911 and one 993 I would love to see in my garage.
Got both. No debate here.
How much would buying such a thing cost?
Hahahaha if we gotta ask mate we don't wanna know. Being in Hong Kong it's probably somewhere around singer prices especially since everything is next to new
@@ananddullabh let's say same model without any upgrades or customization
@@BeatLounge i think they start at 290K euro from what I just looked up.
@@ilovekitties8643 wow on one hand it's expensive, on another hand it's 4000 hours of manual work according to top gear so..
@@BeatLounge oy vey brother...man I didn't do my research on that. Just going based on first impressions from petrolicious, but yeah I'd expect it around the range mr kitties said stock without any upgrades
Seen Joker the “Bad Ass Car” a few times in real life
It’s really a beauty
I’m gonna say it: Joker artwork on the dash of a 911 is just ridiculous, especially for a grown-ass man :D
Respect for keeping it purple, though, great build.
Exactly my thoughts. But, you have to be aware that he is from Japan where cartoons, gaming and stuff like that have huge impact on citizens.
@@macarows4014 it's hong kong
@@taztdaras I made mistake, whole Asia is under huge influence.
I'm a "grown-ass man" myself, but I think its quite cool, because its different. Its a style dedicated to something this person likes a lot. So why not let them? There are plenty of these hyper kids that rebuild old VW's, Toyotas, Nissans or whatever and put ridiculous bodykits on them and paint designs that look like a 3 year old drew on the wall.
If thats what they enjoy, let 'm enjoy it.
I think the Joker theme is quite fitting, also with parts of the film were filmed in HK when Heath Ledger starred the Joker (also used on the artwork on the car), it gives a sort of drivable memorial to Heath.
It adds a touch of whimsy, but it's certainly not my style. Some grown-ass porsche drivers have stuffed animals in their back seats.
Awesome build. This has not helped my obsession with Retro modern build Porsche’s. Absolutely stunning!
Looks magnificent in that color, the attention to detail is stunning, they even put Heath Ledger's face on the headrest. Respect.
I somehow understand why somebody might like the car. But I don‘t like it. One of the quite rare situations where I don‘t like the car presented by Petrolicious.
Because I don‘t like retro. I like old. And original. If you modify your new car, fine, but once a car has reached a certain age and collectibility, this famous saying comes into effect that you hear on this channel often: I do not own the car, I preserve it. You also would not upgrade a Mercedes 300SL gullwing, would you? OK, a 993 is not really there yet and if the base here was not ok, fine. I still would have preferred it to be restored to regular 993 specs.
If I wanted a car that looks like an original 60s 911, I would buy an original 60s 911 and be happy with the hundred-something HP.
THIS is the Petrolicious-Porsche I would have taken: ua-cam.com/video/Pp6opr78BWc/v-deo.html
Strokes...folks...
so...where is the passion?, child stories?, what does the car mean to him?, this could be a phone and it would be the same feeling....
Last november I was walking in Wan Chai, towards a nice gin & tonic around 7pm and suddendly I saw that instant classic purple beauty at the traffic light, with a nice gentleman driving after a day of work. I couldn’t believe my eyes and I took one of my dearest pictures that evening. Well done Mr. Lai, keep drving it.
I walked through Wan Chai a couple of times many years ago (my granddaughter laughs and says, "Oh Grandpa, that was waaay back in another century!!") but there were no Porsches of any type around at that time... just tiny little markets with dried fish hanging from the racks. It was a very busy place.
Absolutely stunning the glad you kept the colour because it looks good.
Really beautiful!!! This is my DREAM !!!
What a cool guy. Hello from the US Mr. Lai!
Wait, a 911 on Petrolicous? No way! In all seriousness, cool car and a cool guy.
Beautiful car and love the color! Great owner too.
4:02 Wait ... What?
do you mean the name on the back of the car not what's being said ??
If so it's Kaege Joker
@@raymoreton3184 No I mean the folding spoiler
Simon its a 993 (1994-1998) last air cooled mass produced Porsche. Even tho it looks very classic it is a fairly modern car with a classic this that air cooled engine. By the way, most of the body except for the doors and roof are made of carbon fiber.
Free HK! People like this want freedom from ccp. Nice car.
Another Porsche down the drain.....don't these sad individuals have something better to do than fuck up pieces of original craftmanship? It takes a weak man to do something like this.
🤷♂️ It's their craft there to fuck up nice cars. Especially in Japan.
Oh gosh, I saw you guys making the firm at tai mo shan! Great stuff
My Infiniti g37 wih admintune and tomei will walk this porsche anyday and espicially from a dig
My 335i could as well but it’s still no Porsche. Pointless comment
Gorgeous car and nice story. Shame porsche 911's are now well out of reach for most of us.
@William Crawford Still £40k+ here in the UK. The cheapest 911 you can buy is the 996 and their about £15k for a standard high mileage one. Any 996 remotely fruity is £35k+
I hope they do drop as I'd love one but for now its a rich mans toy.
Well, this is really beautiful!

Please don’t step on my jaw. It’s still on the ground. WOW!
Another millionnaire showing us his “passion” for Porsches....definitely I think this is not the real spirit of Petrolicious.... but you seem to insist becoming more Blingblingvicious
Santiago Giménez Utiel you sound resentful about millionaires
Couldn't agree more. And when you read the comments of all these suckers who just want to get as close to the top as possible .....
Abhimannue R. Sreekishan If you have seen the type(s) of cars Mr. Petrolicious drives and the bulk of the cars that are featured, its not so surprising you're going to see a comment like what Santiago Gimenez Utiel has to say. Its not that far off. Really. Especially when you see as many Porsches year in year out on Petro. And especially when this dude represents the set that Mr. Petro would go to bed with. There are frankly TOO MANY millionaires on this channel. Yes I watch this as religiously as anyone else but 4real, would it be a crime to see more B/W pics or Kokak type pics of scruffy cars in garages being brought to life while the narrator tells all? They VOTE TOO!!!
Yeah I do like the retromod Porsches but their best vids are the everyman cars, found in sheds, passed on by family, that sort of thing. That said they've done some pretty average cars with those stories, "This is my minivan, I bought it from this car yard, this is where a store my surfboard, I like it because it stores my surfboard" etc.
End of the day this channel has been pumping out free content for years, and even without Top Gear cinematography spending days filming and editing isn't cheap - it was the smart business move to take the top shelf content to the paid platform and use filler in the free channel.
Abhimannue R. Sreekishan I don’t give a sh*t on millionaires, good for you if you are one of them, I just say that this is not what a passionate car lover is about....with money it’s very easy to order a transformation done by some expensive workshop. I do prefer stories of people fixing their own car, found in a farm or given in heritage by their father....as simple as that! Take care, bro!
Thats one lovely car. Cool story and neat design with a background to it.
All that with the irony that parts of the Joker film were filmed in HK when Heath Ledger starred the Joker.
A cool little head nod to Heath.
Wish him many safe road trips with it.
2:52 When he said "a badass car" is when my heart felt some type of way.
Not my cup of tea but I'm glad it's around & it's enjoyed. Really surprised & disappointed by some of the comments below but there we go.
BTW not my cup of tea really, but the craftmanship, the integrity of the design and the whole stance of the car is awesome!
Really a piece of art ... thanks for sharing !!!
You guys need to post this as NSFW! Pure pornography.
While I love it, if it where I own I would do away with all the Joker references and simply put a sublime green leather interior in it. That way it would speak for itself.
Michael Hughes YES DUDE YES! You. Get. It. 4real. He...not so mature man, not like green, too bright. Nailed it. Interior color was way overboard and really didn't speak well for him. Sure, he's his own Man, but it just made the car too freaky for a supposedly grown one like him.
agreed, the modern joker faces ruined it a little.
ഇവിടെ മലയാളികൾ ആരേലും undo??
Ugly car he said. I’d kill to lay hands on a beautiful purple 993 in this condition
Not as good as you Prius that's for sure
LOL I always suspected Porsche owners were murderers in secret.
It’s so low that when he was driving up the garage ramp, the front right tire was lifted
The German Singer, beautiful hand made Cars!!
The stenciling on the seats is really cool
Bill, awesome car enjoy in good health my friend!
The 911 is the poor man's 928. Sorry - I gotta call balls and strikes. the 928 was European "Car" of the Year 1979. No other sports car including the 911 has ever won "Car" of the year. The 928 has won 2 production car land speed record at Bonneville (1986 and 2020) - the 911 has exactly won none. Even 911 enthusiast Magnus Walker has started his 928 collection - its Now or Never for the 928 still the biggest bang for the buck in Porsche's line up. Singer/RWB/RUF could easily reimagine 928s - its just a matter of time before someone specializes in customizing and outlawing 928s - There is no substitute.
So beautiful! The Joker in the headrest HAS TO GO(sorry)... On a much more positive note, the exterior and the PERFECT AMOUNT OF CHROME ACCENT is almost impossible to look away from. The color is beautiful. The STANCE is great, and the fact they retained all the classic lines while integrating the right amount of modern and still retaining the classic beauty of the car is truly impressive.
I'd love it if Petrolicious covered our socialist vehicles in middle europe from the '70s-'80s. Like the rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive Skoda 120 (known as Skoda Estelle in the UK), or any Lada models.
UN-BE-LIEV-ABLE.
I feel like i've been following crappy car channels, until UA-cam decided to suggest Petrolicious.
I'm not surprised this channel has 806K subs. It's gold content but f- me for not discovering this channel earlier. or f- YT algo..
Uni classes/courses cancelled (- covid19) so I'll have plenty of time to catch up besides writing my dissertations and essays.
Pfff.
Watching this is making me keep my Porsche 911 1979 SC
It's never too late to divorce while u still can, LOL.
So awesome, I love Purple a great Porsche color, this is one sweet retromod!
I have to say it again!
Petrolicious has become nothing more than a platform for the Porsche owners self appreciation society!
I'm sick of looking at these overpriced Volkswagens with their air-cooled Dak Dak Cement mixer motors and their Wanker Businessmen owners!
the theme is kinda cheesy, and over all the project is bit of trying too hard, but...thats HONGKONG. If it was my money and decision, I go with a E36 restoration, that is the best car for the city.
This Porsche is beautiful. But a new Mazda MX-5 would equally suit this guy's driving priorities: engagement, engagement, engagement.
Are a lot of people are into italian and english sports cars and I admit there are a few really nice Ferraris etc, but to me personally, there is nothing like the 911, the level of engineering and the precision over a period of centuries are remarkable. I am talking about sports cars, not super cars, like the McLaren F1 or stuff like that.
Nice storytelling & sales pitch; however to compare that 911 with a Singer Design car is an error and Singer uses only Porsche Equipment.
He bought it because "its just a nice car"....he isnt an enthusiast but a guy that wanted to say he owns a Porsche....smh....what a waste
Deutsche Wertarbeit master piece....
He says an ugly 993 yet the 993 looks better than what he’s spent a fortune to end up with. Would love a Singer but this looks odd, the front splitter looks wrong
Whoa! The right front wheel completely lifted when he was transitioning the parking garage up ramp.
The car is awesome…💟
Can’t agree more on his comment at the beginning, saying that it would calm you down when going down to the garage and see your beloved car after a day of work. I guess this is one of the biggest meanings for owning a car in Hong Kong. Great job by Petrolicious and hope to see more stories from Hong Kong and anywhere else in the world!
Owning and maintaining a super rare car in a country it did not originate from (or even manufactured in the first place) is another level altogether. Your pockets must be extremely deep
Hats off~
It is so rare to get a HK-registered 993 manual, as there were lots of tiptronic 993 introduced that time.
There are plenty of people that buy cars just as an investment and feel no passion towards it at all. To them it's just another commodity to later sell when it appreciates in value enough. These are the type of people that I favor, ones that buy the car and keep it because they love it.
This is imo the best tuned Porsche, better than RWB in terms of styling which is always controversial and highly subjective and also even better than Singer. Don't get me wrong, both have their own uniqueness, but this creation from Kaege has a notch more of exclusivity to it.
Like the theme but with Heath ledgers joker wasn't blasted on the car. It would look cleaner with just the text and small touches
Gorgeous car, great color and nice graphics! With Heath Ledgers Joker on the dash, very cool!!
The wheels look like cheap replica fuchs... Anything else looks like a 13 year old would do a car.
If I win the lottery, I’m having one built also. This car is incredible......in every way. Beautiful.
He is playing GTA5 in real life.
That car is definitely a joker
I ride motorcycles. There are many new bikes with retro look. Why don t we see new cars with an old look...
Lovely vintage car ❤️
LoL a Purpe 993 is ugly? At least he didn´t put it in a school uniform..
I Love everything but the rain drip channels. I would have shaved them.
Can you tell me what exhaust is on the car. I am looking for one with dual outlet. Thanks
Nice change from all the chopped up fiberglassed wide bodied rwbs.
Is that a 996 steering wheel? Looks amazing in that cabin
OK........That is now one of my dream Porsches! Absolutely love that Ultra-Violet Purple Color. One of the best Porsche colors ever developed. Although Singer is without a doubt the "Ultimate" Porsche, this is a close second in my opinion. I wouldn't mind having one of these bad boys in my garage for sure.
0:47 Wow, this car has been made by Jerry Riggs. Trademark handiwork right there.
Seegal Galguntijak lifting a wheel on an uneven surface is an indication of competition suspension that is quite stiff, definitely doesn’t mean that it was built by “jerry rigs”
@@Icamadams Well, there isn't enough way to expand the suspension. You can have a stiff competition suspension that also works in such a case.
So its a 993 but they made it look like a 964... and the joker theme....
proud to be on board! ⚡💙🏁
Damn he even wears stone island tho 🙏🙏🙏0:58
What's special about that? It's a bit of a chavvy brand where I live.
Nice work. Great to see one mans vision for his vehicle. Love the retro styling. Collectors cars for sure..
Wow a joker theme 911. Just beautiful in that purple
been in that exact car when it was still back in Germany...truly beautiful build! i thought the owner is a little younger, but ovviously i was wrong 🙃 greetings to Hong Kong ;))
It looks like a cheap and nasty knock off, not a "piece of art".
Brilliant car Bill and thanks for the video awesome viewing with the world being so busy relaxing with your car it's awesome I go into the garage with my motorcycle but the same sense of purpose is all over the world working on my landrover also respect to you 🌍🍀
Someday, maybe, Petrolicious will feature Shark and Fenrir, my e28 and my e30. When the cars grow up.
Wonder what happens when he meets a black Murcielago
EVERYTHING PETROLICIOUS DOES, AND FEATURES IS JUST PURE PERFECTION. IT'S ART IN AND OF ITSELF! 😍😍
