- I'm in awe of this.
Thank you so much to @AngeliqueSings for the vocals as a surprise video. They sent it to me last night when I said I had no idea what to do to celebrate my 1 year anniversary. What a wonderful and lovely gift this is! I'm so grateful.
So, as I have no doubt that nobody but me will have noticed, it is now 1 year since I uploaded my first retro remix - The Shepherd's Boy (1986).
This account has grown by over 1000 subscribers since I uploaded that video, and I have uploaded about 40 more retro remixes since that time.
Funnily enough, my first uploads were of the Doctor Who theme, as I tried to make my own version of the theme. The feedback I got was overwhelmingly negative and I deleted them.
Then, months later, as a distraction to my declining health at the time, I had a go at making a version of the Shepherd's Boy on my phone, as I was aware that making 80s versions of popular songs was a bit of a trend at the time. I uploaded it, and it took off immediately. I didn't expect it at all. And now, it's ballooned into something magnificent that seems to be enjoyed by thousands. And for that, I'm both dumbfounded and grateful.
@AngeliqueSings sent me this video to help me celebrate the 1 year milestone, and with their permission, I have posted it here.
It's the 1976 version of Doomsday I posted a while back, and they have provided their own beautiful vocals. These are absolutely magnificent and awe inspiring, given that the original track from 2006 featured a voice solo - and they have lent their own phenomenal vocal talent to doing the same here, matching both the vocals and my 70s remix Doomsday to the scene of Sarah-Jane's departure at the end of the Hand of Fear. Which works incredibly well.
Unfortunately, the copyright gods didn't approve of the full video, even after I tried to shave a few seconds off to get it under the usual 5 minute tolerance mark. For some reason, they really don't like people uploading long-ish videos from Hand of Fear. So, I've adopted the same technique I used for the War Games video by overlaying the video somewhat transparently over a shot of the Tom Baker titles, the 4K version of which was lifted from @ClassicTVZone.
Also, my usual video editing software (ClipChamp) compressed the audio to hell. So I rendered it in that app, as it's very simple and intuitive to use, then overlaid the audio provided by AngeliqueSings over the video using OpenShot. I had to try and time it manually, given that I have an opening screen which delays the video AngeliqueSings sent me by a few seconds. So the audio may be the slightest fraction of a second off - but I doubt it's noticeable.
So thank you to AngeliqueSings, and thank you to all of you for your support and encouragement over the past 12 months. I've gone through a lot of difficulties within my own life during this time, but your positivity has helped give me the strength I need to persevere during difficult times, and complete my PhD so I can be called "Doctor" myself.
Here's to many more years of remixes. - Розваги
The last friends you took to Gallifrey ended up with their memories wiped, so I don't blame you for not wanting that to happen to Sarah
The choir sounds like the one from "When There's Tears There's Hope" and it sounds absolutely amazing backed with "Doomsday"!
This is amazing and makes the scene feel even more emotional! We'll always remember you sarah jane... 😢❤😊
Utterly heart breaking. Keep up the great work! ❤️❤️❤️
Good luck on the PhD lad! Congrats on the year! Here’s to another!
This is lovely!
Sick as always :)
Congratulations on your anniversary! Best of luck with the PhD, too
You missed the best bit...
@@chrispomphrett4283 I know what scene you’re getting to haha. But it would have taken away from the sad undertones of everything else.
@@hellsw0rth Ok I'll let you off...
