  • Enjoy this close match between two of the greatest players of the game. Even though their long game is below a 50% success rate, that doesn't stop them from performing spectacular shots, numerous centuries and great clearances.
    Match date: 01 April 2022
    The statistics shown in the video correspond to the date of the match.
    Cesar Muroya created a unique editing format to extract the essence of the game without losing the drama involved. Contextual information is also an innovation appreciated by viewers.

    Best snooker play possible, reminds me of the high times of Hendry vs. Davis. 100-breaks one after the other. Top of the top.

      Hendry vs Davis time had much worse quality and many times less centuries and maximums. The best time of snooker is now and it will only get better in the future.

    That clear up for the century by Ronnie on the 15th frame I think was ridiculous and he didn't even care lol. Just draining tough ass shots no problem.

    Excellent editing ( and selection) once again. I now know what stun means having been unsure for years. Kudos Cesar.
    Edit: Also "spin induced throw" is something i had never heard of before but can now understand - though of course not play myself.

      As a traditional 8 ball player I learned about it quite quickly as spin plays a bigger part in the game of 8 and 9 ball and I'm always surprised to see how hesitant many club snooker players are to use it. I suppose it makes sense given risk reward differences in both games but I feel it can really take a lot of people's games to the next level

      The smaller, lighter cue ball combined with the old school obsession with brass ferrules means that throw is much more likely. Also, you’re likely much further away from the pocket with the much bigger table and those pockets with the rounded jaws offer very little leeway.

      I missed that one.
      I don't usually watch snooker in one sitting, especially an entire match. I'll watch a frame, then come back and watch another frame. Sometimes it takes me a whole week to watch a match, well, a long one anyway.

    These two have had alot of good matches over the years, Ronnie seemed to win most of their big matches. But Robertson has been having the edge in their recent encounters.
    Gonna be interesting when the new season starts, to see Ronnie will continue his form after winning world championship. Or if Robertson can continue his amazing form he had before world championship.
    I don't know why Robertson has a bit of a mental block at the crucible, he seems to under perform there. Theres no way a player of his class should only have 1 world title.

    Ronnie O'Sullivan played some very good snooker in patches but Robertson had the more consistent game on the day which won the match and to be fair Robertson played some of his best ever snooker last season and beat Ronnie O'Sullivan 3 times out of 4 and won the tournament after beating him each time and the only loss to O'Sullivan last season was in the Gran Prix Final.Robertson is top 10 all time along with Trump because at there best it takes the best in the history of the sport to beat them and there usually close matches.

    Thats not absolutely correct.
    Stun isnt always "not hitting with Top spin or low" on the cueball.
    In fact, there are an infinite number of opportunities to hit with a low on the cueball and still get a Stun. Most of the times thats what we do when we want to Stun from a distance.
    So.. Basically...
    "Stun" is more of "what happens to the cue all" right after it hits the object ball, which is "stopping" almost immediately when shooting straight, or moving by its tangent trajectory line when its cutting the cue ball.
    There are a lot of variations to Stun, that include a bit if forward roll...
    It would be nice if you corrected it.

    • @CesarMuroya
      @CesarMuroya  2 роки тому +2

      It doesn't say how the cue ball was struck; it says it has no spin at the moment of the collision.
      Theoretically, you must hit the centre of the cue ball, but the red mark at 44:32 shows how it works in reality.

    • @syxQn
      @syxQn 2 роки тому +2

      @@CesarMuroya Absolutely right. I didnt realize you were talking about what happens the *moment* the cueball hits.
      I was thinking it is one of the common mistakes people tend to think... That hitting the center of the cueball guarantees stun regarsless of the distance.
      I apologize for doubting and the misreading.
      (-:
      Great vid regarsless of that issue I thought occured.

    Just a side note: I can't help but start laughing every time a commentator rants about how Ronnie should play the next shot only to see him do the opposite, and get it right. Maybe, that's the reason they are ex-players, and mere charlatans on TV today. The Rocket won 7 World Championships at the same time they were applying make-up on their faces for the cameras.
