His body language is priceless. It clearly speaks “punk you don’t belong here.😂 he is intimidating. And the ability to just plug in and turn it on is unbelievable really. He’s a true master of all facets of the game. Psychological warfare is his secret weapon.

Another thing about the body language, don't know if that was intentional by Ronnie, when he is winding his watch (like saying to Lukas, yeah I know you are having a great frame and the best you can do is win this frame), then the frame ends and he is not even looking up when conceding (as if saying great you won, big deal). That dents the opponent's confidence. Remember Hendry talking about this kind of mindgames between frames.
Ronnie was tinkering with his wristwatch, which got me curious as to what it was and how much it might cost? $10,500....nice!! It's GOOD to be the King!
The mind games. Yes, it was avoidance strategy to not have to pay attention to the slow play, but it was also psychological warfare. "Look, I care more about this expensive watch than I do you or this game. If you beat me, maybe you can buy a watch this nice? Nah, probably not. It's such a nice watch." lol

A true sportsman and champion does not have such stupid thougts. The players often do not watch the opponent play because they rest their mind and concentration Level. And it‘s not That necessary for Your game to watch the opponent play. You need your whole focus on your game - Snooker is a very challenging Sport for your mind so its better to relax when you are not at the table.

At the end of the day, it's always best to play to your strengths and Lucas has realised that his slow play is grinding Ronnie down and is using it as a strategy just as Peter Ebdon did a few years before him.
Yes it's boring but I can't fault Lucas for taking his time,it's a MASSIVE match to him,playing the world champion and the greatest player to ever play the game ,so who can blame him for trying to find every advantage that he can in order to win ?
the current obsession with 'shot time' is absurd, if you ask me. If a player cannot remain calm because his opponent takes 10 seconds extra between shots, then that's their problem.
I didn't like the commentary at all. Good commentary relies as much for abstention as well as moments of insight. Here we have two commentators who talk incessantly. They added nothing to the match.

The commentator was saying he can't turn it on and off. Not the Rocket. His game is more well rounded than when he was just killing his opponents. Better safety game and still a fabulous break builder. He is handling Lukas's slow play very well not like his younger days. He's got his mind right.
Ronnie's entire demeanor here can be read as a comment to the underwhelming pace of his opponent. Boredom, playing with his watch (indicating the time it takes for his opponent to make a single shot), and flashy, super-positive aggressive play, once he is in. Poor Lukas.

ronnie pulls another scrappy match out the hat.not his sublime smoothest or best,but he's the business when the occaision comes.
Kleckers done well, some bad shots, but a good result against the GOAT.

Commentators are all over Ronnie. He missed some in the opening frames but they doom and gloom about Ronnie not at his best was a bit absurd really

When Ronnie plays we can see the continuous real time game without editing much which also makes easier for UA-cam channels...

Felt bad for Lukas, he was playing so damn well and just really got a terrible run of shots in those last few frames. Hope he goes on to do well!

A 12 second average shot time is really, really quick. Ronnie found his feet in that 4th frame.

I wish the commentators told the truth: Ronnie is making sure Lucas is getting a good start as a Professional in a real match with a real shooter. Ronnie can close the gap when and if he chooses.

When you have already won everything you had to win, finding the motivation to continue is very difficult.

Slow people are a huge motivation killer. One of the biggest reasons I've disliked working in unions.

No player can guess where the balls will end up when you go in to pack of reds sure there is degree of assumption as you play shots.
I think Ronnie was just bored. He knew he could beat him with his eyes closed, so he really didn't put much into it. Even when he decided to actually give it a try, he still was only playing at 80% which is what he knew all he really had to do. He potted some tough shots when he had to, and then went back to 80%.

There should be time limits set for players on every shot. Slow playing is a way for sub caliber players to frustrate good players into losing. Poor taste in my opinion.
