this was a rlly thoughtful and interesting video, as a woman i’ve become rlly enamoured with drag-style makeup because it completely rejects the natural, ‘i woke up like this’ thing that women are expected to do and embraces the creative, performative and artistic side that’s just sooo much more fun
I fell in love with makeup through cosplay and burlesque and drag. I never felt compelled to do natural makeup day to day but when l discovered the artistry it changed everything ❤
You put that into words so well. I don’t wear makeup daily, but when I wanna wear it for a fun outing or something, I’m heavily inspired by glittery colorful drag makeup that’s just about what I think is fun
@@murrenkelly3866 if I want to look natural I'll just use my face lol if I've putting time and money into make up - everyone's gonna know! Haha (I'll still do light make up and stuff on days I feel like it, but it's exactly that. When *I" feel like it)

Yeah that was my issue with the hair clip girl. She seemed anti-makeup only because there are people who say you should wear makeup to look prettier/younger/etc. What about the people who just like it? I'm not putting on glittery purple eyeshadow and a wing because society said I should. If anything, the "no makeup" look is what society pushes. Then she said "That's talent, but that's not you." I wish Trixie would know how much she means to some random kid across the world watching her found footage at 1 am in the morning, genuinely my safe space.
From what I've seen on men on social media, men treat women differently AFTER they see her without makeup -- then it's suddenly deceit, as though she was born with gold eyelids and perfect, poreless skin.
When I worked downtown Seattle I didn’t wear makeup daily and men would literally walk into me on the sidewalk all the time and I would have to dodge to get out of their way and the ONE day I wore makeup and heels men would move out of MY way when I was walking down the street. It was like suddenly I was worthy of respect.
I loved this, as someone who has worked in a nail salon, but also kitchens and warehouses, who has worked in all female environments but also been the only woman in the room, this is all stuff I think about A LOT and I loved seeing this thoughtful and insightful treatment of it. Thank you for it!
The world needs more people with Bryn’s mentality. There’s enough room for me to do me and you to do you, and even if we don’t feel the same about something, that’s fine; we can just respect the differences in each other and have respectful conversations about those differences.
makeup's effect is so different depending on your daily life. the girl who's like oh it gives me confidence to ask a question is so interesting because if you were in a non-corporate stem setting or academia, the makeup is what's going to make people think you're stupid/shallow.
I can't stand wearing make-up, it makes my skin feel terrible... but I''ve watched every video in this channel at least once. Idk, love it for you all who enjoy it.
I think this is one of the most fascinating videos this channel has released. Thank you for being open minded and professional discussing a socially complex topic.
This was a great conversation to watch with Trixie. I love the artistry of makeup but can’t wear anything but lipstick due to allergies. Nothing is hypoallergenic enough for me. So I am a neutral observer and appreciate all these points of view on the complex subjects of beauty, self esteem, presentation and artistry. Thanks for sharing and I hope you are enjoying your well deserved break.
As I get older I've suddenly aquired a lot of new allergies to things I used to use just fine. I just had a major allergic reaction to an* eyeshadow, from a brand I used before; no issues. My eyes or face gets super swollen and my throat closes. :(
It’s not worth it! My eyes swell up too and it takes hours for them to go down, even if I just try to do a little brow enhancement on my thinning brows. I chose a career where no makeup or dressing up was needed. Biology is destiny in this case-I have no choice but to go with the “natural” look. I wish people were less judgmental about looks. You don’t know what people are basing their choices on.
As a parent i think its perfectly fine to allow children to experiment with real makeup in the home, kids makeup have less strict safety measures. I also think its important to let them know they are beatiful without makeup too.
Yes, it's important to let kids know that makeup is artistry, not a necessity. It's totally fine to let kids use real makeup to have fun and practice those skills, but it's hard to walk that line of having fun and feeling more confident and looking too grown
Yeah a lot of kids makeup I used as a kid, looking back seems like it was probably terrible for skin especially the chunky glitter Vaseline Claire's "eyeshadow" lol. I'd probably get my kid a colorful Colourpop Palette to play with rather than kids branded makeup.
the craziest part of this youtube video of these people sharing their opinions on makeup, the girl who is level headed with her opinions and recognizes that others don't share hers is rare to see.... the strongly opinionated ones are just so loud compared to the chill ones. i don't do makeup on me cause i hate how it feels, but i love seeing it as an art form.
My favorite part about this video is Trixie vocalizing that these people with different opinions about a broad subject can be observed back and forth without people losing their composure. It's a healthy back and forth and I think many types of people have a hard time observing contrasting opinions.
I found that I personally felt the face products in my price range sat on my skin in a way that made me aware of it at all times. It's not that makeup like foundation, primer, concealer, etc. has anything wrong with it, but for me a moisturizer and a color correcting powder doesn't create the same sense of being wrapped in cellophane. Sometimes people can have a bad experience like that and assume that everyone else is also uncomfortable, maybe for something as simple as not wanting to feel singled out, so the product must be inherently bad.
As a woman that was bullied from a early age for having bad acne and skin problems. I always had a strange relationship with makeup because I used it until the end of high school to cover my imperfections and to appear “normal”, I also learned everything by myself so my makeup until then was TERRIBLE 😂! I now learned to use makeup in a less serious way and have fun with it but especially foundations its still hard to wear it because I still have bad scars but I wish I could not wear it everyday. ❤ Anyway ,be kind to yourself.
My mom was really my first "beauty guru" and even though she passed when I was young she's the reason I love makeup and skincare. She always used Estee Lauder and I remember watching her do her skincare and makeup so intently and curious. I struggled with bad acne until my late teens and having a "makeup positive" mom helped my confidence with it, even to this day. This was a great video, very insightful 💅🏼💄💜
I just love the wisdom that comes from Trixie’s perspective and I agree 100% with everything she sees in the opinions of the panel. She’s honest AND gracious. She’s the person EVERY human being should be. ❤️ from Brenda, Ojibwe.
I love how nuanced the conversation was on both sides. And that both sides talking points weren't obvious in the way that people would expect them to respond. I hope that kind of discourse and discussion keeps happening.
I get a more positive response from people when I wear makeup. I’m blonde so my eyelashes aren’t visible without mascara and it really changes the way I look. I can choose to be invisible and that’s kind of powerful.
I hope the chill no makeup girl accepts your invitation to be on the channel. ❤❤❤ It's perfect demonstration of not liking something but still keeping an open mind about it and not judging people that like it. More people need to take note. ❤❤❤
It's like when mom went to Washington DC with the league of women's voters and was gone for 6 weeks but she called and sent us postcards, pictures, letters and $20 for pizza if we used the pizza pit coupon on the fridge. Love you Mother Trixie 🎉❤!
I definitely do makeup for myself. I love myself and love going without makeup on a daily, but having fun and making myself look gorgeous every once in a while is a huge confidence boost for myself. It's not for anyone else but me and my confidence.
It's heartwarming to know that there are still people who do not need to be screaming at the top of their lungs to get their points across, knowing that they all do not share the same perspective about the subject. They have truly found the Middle Ground. 👏🏼✨
yeah i liked how everyone gave their point of view and listened to each other with respect, it was a nice surprise! also i love trixie's crochet sweater, mesh and a scallop neckline? precious! i gotta make something like that for myself 🥰
If I may, I am never more my authentic self than when I’m wearing magenta mist lipstick, cover girl perfect point plus eyeliner on the water line and three coats of mascara. Miss me with “authentic self.” You’re authentic self is how you thrive in your presentation.
I absolutely loved this video. Having people in the world who are so interested in each others opinion on artistry and are willing to have the conversation about the beauty industry and the outrageous standards it places on people is so refreshing to see. I am a makeup lover, I have always viewed my makeup as a combination of self-expression and a "war paint" if you will. It's so cool to see and hear other people's opinions on why they like and dislike it.
I loved this video! From the parts of the original Video that were shown, to Trixie's reactions and commentary, to the fact that everyone behind this amazing channel knows knows how much we love and miss our bird scream Diva in pink. It's everything, hope Miss Tracy is getting all the rest she needs and eventually returns to us.
I would honestly be the first person to buy your book: Behind the Make-Up Counter. You truly are a professional and we would love to hear more of these stories!!
I’m a makeup girly all day so I was surprised and so happy to hear how open and understanding the non-makeup people were! This was pretty cool to watch. If only everyone could respect each other‘s boundaries and hear each other out like this in life overall❤️
This might be one of my favorite videos Trixie has filmed. Everyone was so respectful and made really great points and rebuttals on both sides. You should totally put that girl in drag and continue the conversation!! I am so glad y'all pulled this from the vault!!
I deff relate to a lot of Bryn's sentiments in this video but you're one of my favorite creators to watch as an artist myself. I felt like a lot of her opinions were realistic and coming from a place of "I do me, you do you, but lets support each other" A video with you both would be really cool!
as a kid my mom never encouraged me to wear makeup but never restricted it either, and i think that led to a healthy relationship with makeup as a fun tool
I love seeing this side of Trixie - the somewhat serious, thoughtful, and heart-forward person. (Not that I don't love non-serious Trixie, obvs I do...) I don't know Trixie personally, but one reason I'm a fan is that I can see that she's as Midwest nice as my husband of 13 years who I'd still marry again today. Despite her fame, she never seems to lose that.
See, this is why I love Trixie and her videos. Like, she can be cruelly funny and say the worst things, but... they are kind, and introspective, interesting and interested. She's a real one.
My first reaction to seeing this post was “girl that was not a long enough break.” I’m so glad that this is just an archived video and that she’s still on her break
I’m 42 and Trixie converted me from being anti-makeup to pro-makeup about 5 years ago, because she took the power from “society” and gave it to me. Watching those Season 1-2 UNHhhh videos where she is a very *unconventional* beauty but absolutely digging herself in the monitor made me realize that I am in charge of my own face, and I have the power through makeup to achieve my own vision. That realization trickled down into being confident in all aspects of my life and choices and I’m just so much happier now and so grateful to Trixie for that gift ❤❤❤
It’s actually me! Just popping on to say hi everyone and my break is amazing. 🎉
We miss you! Have an amazing time off. We'll be here when you get back :-)
Glad you're finally getting the rest you deserve!!

It's like when mom went to Washington DC with the league of women's voters and was gone for 6 weeks but she called and sent us postcards, pictures, letters and $20 for pizza if we used the pizza pit coupon on the fridge. Love you Mother Trixie 🎉❤!
I needed this Trixie fix in my life. Can't wait for her return to hear about all the Swaydish Paypel 💖
I love the title cards at the beginning. It's like at the end of a 90s movie, where it says "Tim passed away from Black Lung Disease in 1974."
I think this is the prettiest outfit you’ve worn. The color is great and gives you a very soft feminine vibe. Love it!
Wow content beyond the grave. Such a giving Queen
If I may, I am never more my authentic self than when I’m wearing magenta mist lipstick, cover girl perfect point plus eyeliner on the water line and three coats of mascara. Miss me with “authentic self.” You’re authentic self is how you thrive in your presentation.
And here I thought Ms. Mattel is back to the interwebs early. 😅 Glad she is still on vacation. These vids will keep me going through life. ❤
Even in the afterlife, she still comes through for us ❤
we love and miss you trixie!🩷 hope you’re having a luxurious break
I love how sincere this video is. It really faces an interesting and complicated topic and I love that.
Miss her so... hope she's enjoying her break. ❤
This might be one of my favorite videos Trixie has filmed. Everyone was so respectful and made really great points and rebuttals on both sides. You should totally put that girl in drag and continue the conversation!! I am so glad y'all pulled this from the vault!!
"Untucked for strangers" is SUCH an accurate way to describe Jubilee
I deff relate to a lot of Bryn's sentiments in this video but you're one of my favorite creators to watch as an artist myself. I felt like a lot of her opinions were realistic and coming from a place of "I do me, you do you, but lets support each other" A video with you both would be really cool!
This was actually one of the most interesting and well done videos Trixie has done. Thank you for finding it.
I want soccer coach on your channel! OMG so kind and open and I agree, we need more people like her and the rest of the group. LOVE
as a kid my mom never encouraged me to wear makeup but never restricted it either, and i think that led to a healthy relationship with makeup as a fun tool
Kristen Wiig's character in Bridesmaid does the "get up, touch up, go back to bed" trick... my mom out loud goes "Smart woman, I love that"
See, this is why I love Trixie and her videos. Like, she can be cruelly funny and say the worst things, but... they are kind, and introspective, interesting and interested. She's a real one.
I really need Trixie to like, talk me through my hangups about makeup like she does here
My first reaction to seeing this post was “girl that was not a long enough break.” I’m so glad that this is just an archived video and that she’s still on her break
“Hi, it’s Trixie-“ and suddenly I’m in tears 🥹
I love that trixie isn’t shaming them and is instead agreeing with them. Love her!
Tritsee's soaring with the angels ❤️🩹🕊
