    God damn Noel, some of those backhand bottom turns are tight, quick and precise running the quad setup. By far the best I've seen in ages of the boards you've had under your feet. Dan Mann can have my money for this latest creation of his. Great review again Noel.

    Hey Noel, thank you for your work with Aaron. I got this board based on the reviews, and now I finally understand the expression magic board. I'm a weekend warrior who has been surfing for 10+ years, including traveling around the globe. This is the best board I have ridden; everything works for my surfing style in several conditions. Also, I dialed my volume and dimmed it based on your episode about volumes. Thanks for your passion for the sport and for helping all of us around the globe with unique content. Really appreciate!

    Noel, your explanations regarding fins are always top notch. Love how you went out of your way to make the thruster work. Thanks for that. There is so much to learn and to be reminded of on your channel. Much appreciated! You definitely looked best on the quad. The twin plus trailer looked a little soapy but I can imagine it feels super fun. Keep shredding!

    have this board and was riding it as a thruster and quad in shoulder high and below and wasn't very happy with it. watched this review and pivoted to the Twin + Stabilizer and as Noel reported....that was next level. Faster than the quad setup with the stability for top/bottom surfing. Thanks for the R&D Noel!

    Review is spot...I just spent 5 days in a row surfing this from knee to waist to solid head high waves it it just performs so well. The board has this amazing pop and squirt, a new feeling Ive never experienced quite like it. Allows me to surf more aggressively n be more radical...I started focusing more on rear foot placement n it makes a big difference. It really excels in more solid waist to chest n has speed and float to make it they the flat sections.

      @@Ibanezmusic1 couldn’t agree more with you Daniel. In fact, I ended up not surfing the Spitfire at all. It is a board design for very specific waves. Anything other than waist to chest high glassy and the board will not go well. Not too mention that the foam in the front make this board to have a tendency for sinking the tail a bit too much. Or maybe it’s just me, I suck at surfing if you are to compare me with Noel haha!

    Hi Noel , I'm 63 , 5' 9 and 165 lbs intermediate surfer . Although I keep really fit I'm finding with age surfing just gets harder and harder each year . So as the years roll on by my board's length and volume has been increasing . I know the days of me riding a 5' 8 or 5 ' 10 Dom 2 are behind me so I'm thinking of maybe a 6' 2 . I've surfed a friends Dom 2 in 6' 4 and I really liked it but I reckon I could go down a little . I'm curious about your thoughts regarding ageing surfers and board sizing as its a path we'll all go down eventually . Love the reviews bro 🤟

    Hey Noel,
    Love the content. Just got your back pad and can’t wait to get a surf in on it.
    After a few years away from the water I came back about 3 years ago and got a seaside 5’11. Replacing a 1st gen dumpster diver 6’0 35L~. The seaside has been a lovely experience but really starting to feel like the board is not responding to me the way I am wanting. For reference I am 6’5 200lbs.
    I am feeling like it’s hard to get good rail engagement unless I am super hard on the tail. But then if I do that, I feel like the board is almost bogging down and I lose the speed and drive of the board. I know I need to be a better surfer haha and get better at moving my back foot forward and back as needed. But surfing top to bottom even moderately front footed on the dumpster diver was much easier.
    Would you say a dominator 2 6’2 37.8L be good option for me to get the float and stability I need as a bigger guy while still retaining enough performance on those knee-shoulder days in SoCal? Sorry for the rant, thanks for all that you do for the community!

    I have this board for a few weeks. The quad was really fast but didn't have the bite/hold for the speed. As a thruster it's still fast and holds well. As a 2 plus 1 twin, simply heaven. The 2 plus 1 has the speed and the hold and is really more responsive for me. I tried it with MR twins and the new Mick Fanning twins and the Mick's were insane for speed and control. No matter the fin configuration this board is the magic board you never owned. BTW, I did place the traction pad as far back as I could to still be able to access to the leash plug.

    • @surfnshowreviews7777

      Hydra does not go good in hollow waves due to the low rocker but it flies in 1-3' mushy waves and it will go faster compared to the AP and D2.0. The AP carries more speed 1-3' surf better compared to the D2.0 but the D2.0 can do turns in the pocket that the AP and Hydra can never do due to outline and rocker. • @surfnshowreviews7777

      KInda.... however the Sci-Fi 2.0 is more difficult to surf and needs more of a wave to go good. This D2.0 is a sick 1 board quiver from 1-6' surf and I would choose it all day long over the Sci-Fi 2.0. Just saying.... the D2.0 is way faster and very nimble in tight little pockets. When you get into 5-7' surf the Sci-Fi will offer more hold in the pocket and traction off the bottom.

    Hi Noel,
    Another great review as always! Already bought the Ultra Joe because of your review on that board, and I love riding it, Thanks! Now I am looking for slightly more performance and want to take my surfing to the next level (I am an intermediate surfer and want to make my turns more critical and better in the pocket surfing). I mostly surf waves in the 1-6ft range (in Portugal), and the DM2 seems perfect for that 2-5ft beach break range which I surf 80% of the time (I own a Lost Rocket V3 5.8 28.55L for the 3-7ft range and an Ultra Joe 5.7 30.9L for the 1-4ft range), I weigh 157lbs and am 5.8 and I am doubting for quite a while already if I should get the DM2 in 5.6 (28L) or 5.7 (29.4) (according to the Firewire website I should ride approx. 30L, but that is a general measure for all their boards). I never surfed Helium but I think you mentioned it adds another 0.5L (feeling-wise). If it would not add this 0.5L I would have opted for the 5.7 but I don't know if this extra buoyancy in Helium2 tech prevents me from making sharper turns as it sits on the surface a bit more. I am currently still leaning towards getting the 5.7 (catching more waves/paddling), my question however: will I still get enough performance out of the 5.7, I don't want it to feel too clunky. And is there not too much overlap with my Lost Rocket V3?
    Maybe there is barely a difference between the DM2 5.6/5.7 and I am overthinking it, but I am set on making the right decision because this one completes the quiver :)
    Appreciate the review in any case, helpful already, thanks!

    • @surfnshowreviews7777

      The 5’6” at 28L will float like your Rocket....28.5L. The 5’7” will float like 30L. If your Rocket floats you good and you catch a lot of waves then you could easily surf the 5’6”.The 5’7” will offer a bit more stability with a little more width and rail line. Go with your gut here... if your leaning towards the 5’7” then get it.

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  4 роки тому +5

      The Hydroshort surfs like a longer board compared to the D2.0. The Hydroshort is not a Groveler... it needs a wave to go good. The D2.0 will get into the lip way quicker and fits In tighter transitions better and it’s faster down the line with better flow compared to the Hydroshort

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  4 роки тому +7

      The D2.0 is quicker rail to rail compared to the Phantom. It will also get vertical easier due to it's wide point being back further compared to the Phantom. The Phantom will carve better and paddle better as it carries more foam under the chest and front foot. I believe the Phantom is easier to surf unless you get the D2.0 on the higher side of the liter range then it will offer a bit more control and be easier to surf.

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  4 роки тому +3

      No Brainer carries more down the line speed but the D2.0 is excellent top to bottom in the pocket. The No Brainer has to be surfed hard off the tail to surf a 3-5' wave in the pocket well. I think the No Brainer is best in 1-3' Surf and when it gets over 3' I want something else. The D2.0 is mental in 2-6" surf and I would even enjoy surfing it in 1-2' mushy waves due to its quickness from rail to rail.... I also like how short it is so I can get it in the lip quickly.

      @@coreybyrum I have a Seaside and Dominator II. I think the D2 has a better upper end than the Seaside, and is more like a traditional shortboard. I surf my Seaside so much that when I first got the D2 it seemed long and narrow. Both are the same volume.
      The D2 paddles really well and is quite fast and easy to surf. I surfed the D2 for most of the run of swell we've had the last couple months and it went really good. Today was the first time I surfed it in smaller waves (waist to chest high), and I would've definitely picked the seaside instead.
      I haven't tried the Phantom, but I had an OG Pyzalien. The Pyzalien was PU, and could handle chop/wind better than the D2. The D2 is a bit faster and easier to paddle. I really like the Seaside and D2 for southern CA waves.
      I would pick the SS/D2 combo over the Pyzalien since I think the D2 has a better lower range, and if the waves are smaller than expected (which is usually the case here), the D2 would handle it better. I think to maximize wave range a Seaside/Pyzalien or Phantom combo would be better.

    Hey Noel, got the 5’7 dominator 2 recently.
    Only had a few sessions on it. I’m 5’10 weighing 65kg / 143 lbs, intermediate surfer.
    After watching your review I decided to get the quad setup (endorphins KS1) but struggling to get much pivot from the board.
    Just wondered if it was due to poor foot placement as I’ve moved the pad as far back as you did in case I wanted to run the thruster setup and just not getting it right when popping up or if the fins are a little too stiff for me.
    Yet to try it as a thruster but given I’m surfing weak 2-4 ft, 9s period swell, in the carribean thought I’d test the quad setup first for more lift.
    Or do you reckon I just rip the pad and have one just for the quad setup a bit further up.

      The Helium tech offers roughly 1/2 liter more overall float. So if the 5’6” D2 is 28L then it will float more like 28.5L. The 5’7” will float more like 30L. For your weight and weak FL waves if you are intermediate skill level then I recommend the 5’7”
