If you want to make spice blends investing in a spice blender is a game changer. Instead of buying cumin from the store buy cumin seeds. When you grind it the oils come out and it makes the seasoning more potent.
I also only buy black peppercorns and use my spice grinder to make ground pepper. Saves money and I have both for different recipes

Love them all,if you suffer from high blood pressure, don't add salt. Add it at the end.

the cajun seasoning is so far off then what we like. i would’ve based the seasoning off of slap ya mama or nunus if you want it to be realistic. there shouldn’t be that much salt
Edit: i’m actually cajun and in live Acadiania which is where cajuns are. check my last name

I'm not Cajun. Slap ya mama is overrated. Way too salty

@@silentj624 True. Just use Tony’s. Slap Ya Mamma would be nowhere without the clever name.

@@silentj624 i guess it depends on what type of salt you have available in your area as well...... i mean some places you will find Kosher salt used more often while in some places you find flaky sea salt or extra fine sea salt used....... so if you are using either Kosher salt, flaky sea salt or extra fine sea salt, and the recipe calls for 1 tsp salt, that's where the problem lies..... because if you are using Kosher salt or Flaky Sea Salt then you would need to add more of that to the recipe because of the salt grains in Kosher salt is larger and coarser than regular salt..... while in some countries we have fine or extra fine sea salt and coarse sea salt rather than Kosher or flaky sea salt, so in such cases if your recipe calls for 1 tsp salt and you are using 1 tsp extra fine sea salt, then of course a recipe will be too salty...... may be Slap ya mama uses fine sea salt which could explain why it's too salty...... or maybe you and others prefer less salt..... that's why in India was always tell people to add salt "To TASTE" because my salt could be just right for my taste but it could be either to little or to salty for someone else...... which also means that you will have to use a salt amount that is fine to your taste..... so if you use Kosher salt or Halal salt more often THEN i agree with you on a food being TOO salty..... but if you are using fine or extra fine salt, like the salt shown in this video, then it will still be fine to your taste.... i think that we all need to remember that everyone uses different types and kinds and forms of salt and also everyone has different tastes..... some also mainly use just Himalayan Pink salt (it is also called "PINK SEA SALT" in some places as a matter of fact) in their food.... so that could make their food taste different from the taste of the food that has either Kosher, Halal, Flaky or Fine sea salt added to it....... and also i think that the people who did this video has to specify what type of salt they are using so that who ever is watching the video can understand that 1 tsp of the video maker's salt preference (like fine salt) could still mean 1 tsp of the salt that the viewer uses most of the time or also i think it would be way better to just say "Salt to taste" rather than "1 tsp salt" and show 1 tsp of fine or extra fine salt being added to a mix because even i have problems when people who do their videos say to use Kosher or Coarse sea salt for their food because i live in India so Kosher and other coarse grained sea salts can just be a little less salt for us Indians and we normally use Fine to extra fine sea salt for daily cooking so we know that our taste is different to that of someone elses taste and also it depends on whether you or one of your family members have High Blood Pressure ..... if you have High Blood Pressure, then reduce your salt intake..... i my case, my mum has High Blood Pressure and though we use fine salt in our food, my mum uses less but well sometimes my dad finds that little amount of salt a bit too much.... and so if my mum uses less salt than the amount she already uses, then my dad says that there is too little salt in the food.... and my mum tastes the food for salt or actually either asks me or my dad to do the taste test, because she will feel that salt is too little and she could end up adding a little more salt which could end up making the food TOO SALTY.... so, you just need to work out the taste and check the amount of salt used before adding more salt..... because you can add more salt if you feel that there is less salt in the food..... but if you add more salt before tasting the dish or even the seasoning, then it would be difficult to take that salt out and also you could ruin a perfectly cooked meal just because you added too much salt to it.... so that's why cooks always say "Add about half a tsp of the salt that you normally use in you cooking and then TASTE it before adding more salt because you can add more salt if you feel like it needs more salt, but if you just more salt without tasting the dish, then it would be too late to remove that salt".... but many people just want the exact measurements of ingredients and stuff and when the salt they add becomes too much for their taste they will just complain about the person who's recipe they were following, as being just a waste of their time and that the person in the video can't cook.... when the actual problem also is with the person following the recipe because they didn't use their brains and use less salt and then taste the food before adding more salt if needed but instead just dumped in the exact amount of salt specified using the salt that they usually use in their cooking.... because it's easier to put the blame on someone else that to take the blame and say "Yieeks! i messed up"
