My mom purchased a scratch and dent Samsung washer from LOWES in January. It was delivered, my dad connected it and water shot everywhere in the kitchen. Repair woman came out, and said the washer had no internal plumbing wise. Samsung said that they will not honor the warranty because the machine had been used. She had it 2 months and was unable to use it 1 time.
Samsung tracked the serial number and found out it had been purchased at LOWES then returned within 30 days. She had to go back and forth on the phone as you did. She said maybe a total of 20 hours dealing with this issue.
Samsung finally agreed to repair the washer for $400.
She told them she'll just return it to the store.
LOWES gave her a brand new washer (not scratch and dent) for the price she'd paid for the returned 1.
I told her they only did it because it was cheaper than getting sued for selling a used washer as a new scratch and dent.
Now I'm curious as to if they put the 1 she returned back on the floor. We were told they were going to scrap it.

I bought a clearance fridge for my new house 3 years ago from Lowe's. They delivered it about a week after my purchase. Went to the grocery store put about $300 worth of food in it 2 days later stopped working lost all my food. Called Lowe's they sent a repairman out 2 weeks later. He so called repaired it went back to the grocery filled it with food again lasted 2 more days lost all my food again. A week later sent another repairman out said it was an internal leak and could not be fixed. Took Lowe's a week and a half to come pick it back up. Went that evening to get my money back Manager said it was not off the truck yet so he couldn't gove me my money back til it was physically in the store. Ive been without a fridge for over a month. I called the cops the police made the manager give me my money back right then since the delivery truck is also Lowe's property and he was pissed. Moral of this story. I bought a drill/impact set from Lowes once that was on sale. It was the last one they had, got it home and the charger was physically broken and wouldn't charge. I took it back and was told to check back in a couple of days for a replacement. I went back 4 days later and asked if they had any of the same model...they showed one in stock. I thought great and they pointed me to it. Immediately I noticed the box had been opened and upon further inspection, it was the same drill I had returned.

I got tired of messing with it and took it back told them it was a POS, they said they would send it out for repair again. I paid a little extra and got a new one. Later that evening I went back for some other items and there it was sitting in the discounted yard equipment ready to be resold again.

I bought my Armana 4.9 cu ft on sale from the local appliance store. The delivery guy I've known for 20 years hooked it up with new hoses I bought, balanced it, and took away my old one.
I thought I overpaid. But, in doing my research I couldn't find a better price ($700 all in) nor better service. So, I agree in buying local mom & pops store's products. Plus, if it turns out to be defective I'll pick up the phone and personally speak to them by their first names.
Finally, while I am no appliance repair man I tried everything on my old Crosley (I don't know who makes what anymore). I took it apart and replaced parts. An appliance guy said it must be a motor or something else. I couldn't coax another month outta her. It had its day. I can't recall how long I've had it.

I worked at Lowe's.. That machine is supposed to be RTV'd and put in a trailer behind the store. A 3rd party company is to pick it up and fix/sell/part it out it at his place. It is at no loss to Lowe's as they get their money back per a contractual agreement with the manufacture.
What you experienced is pure laziness by employees that don't pay attention to SOP's (standard operating procedures) and simply don't give a crap.

This isn't the typical story of someone getting a washer, but it's unacceptable needless. I'm in appliance and these items should be sent off for repairs before they come back, someone dropped the ball. I have a fridge that was discounted and returned and it's been fine. I can't really comment much more but I will say this job is a placeholder while I find a management position somewhere in my small town, but I have seen half the store disappear for lunch while I skip mine almost everyday because it's too busy. I'll say though there are good people who work there and try their best everyday to remedy these situations, some slip through the cracks though when you deal with hundreds of people a day.

The electronic ones are very susceptible to surges, brownouts, spikes, etc. and cannot be repaired at the component level, they must be totally replaced, and therein lies the problem; they are obsolete as soon as the machine is shipped, and replacement boards are kept to a bare inventory level, once depleted your machine is useless if it needs one. I saw a guy on UA-cam program an Arduino to get a machine going for his mom, $25 and working better than new, so it can be done. That must be recent. Sears used to have a repair shop in a nearby city, and any store returns from the Sears stores in my area would go there, be fixed, and resold as 'used' with a short warranty. I bought a washer and dryer at that place 20 years ago and the washer just recently died. Sadly, that repair/sales shop is no longer around (probably closed as part of Sear's slow death spiral).

We had a specific place we kept the flawed ones that we had to wait until a representative from the company came out. Keep in mind, most of these were minor flaws in the coloring or ceramic. They worked fine. Rather than discount them and resell them, we had to take a sledge hammer to them after the rep checked them out. I couldn't believe it. These were $400 toilets! We did have fun smashing them up. Even the plumbing hardware is junk.

I I installed in the basement, turned it on and there was water everywhere. Since the water was in the basement, there was no damage or mold to the structure.
I returned to the dealer the next day and confronted him with my Jersey accent which included most of the four letter words I know and then some. The machine was under warranty, the factory rep came out and repaired the thing at no additional charge. The machine ran for at least another 20 years. “This is the way the world works.”

Anybody ever notice, too that, if a Walmart goes up in any specific area, it's generally followed by a Lowe's going up in your area soon after? I'm not saying that that's the case every time, but it seems to be the case more often than not. Ever wonder why that is? Also:When those two monsters show up in any general vicinity, a lot of smaller, but seemingly more established Mom and Pop businesses, that have been in business for decades, even a hundred years or more, find themselves choked out of business, little by little, until the smaller businesses have to close! I live in Staunton, Virginia, and Lowe's and Walmart both showed up around here about 25 years ago. Since then, for some unearthly reason, businesses ended up having to close shop. We had a Hardware store here in Staunton called Young's Hardware. They closed last year because the owner decided he didn't want to be there anymore. The reason the community was given was that he wanted to retire, and be with his family. I, to this day, wonder if that was the real reason. It seems as if, although it took a long time, they slowly but surely lost customers. People thought that they could buy just as good of a quality item at either Lowe's or Walmart, as they could at not only Young's Hardware, but at different kinds of stores here in our community. Lowe's and Walmart have less than stellar reputations around here...and I'm sure that Staunton, Virginia aren't their only victims. The way that these two monsters treat people...they both oughta be closed down, and run outta town on the proverbial rail! That's after their higher-ups have been caught, tried and found guilty, and tarred and feathered!!! They're monsters that, given the opportunity, turn into the proverbial Vampires that suck every drop of the lifeblood out of the very community that welcomed them into their community in the first place!

I had an experience like this at Best Buy. I returned a dysfunctional hard drive that had a scratch on it. They fought with me tooth and nail - then put the hard drive back on the floor in the box. No discount or anything.
I work at PC Richard & Son now and they’re fantastic. Unfortunately they’re only in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York & New Jersey. But they’re really ethical. You have to go through 2 weeks of paid 8 hour training days to work there, then more training while you’re there. They treat their employees well & support you if you go to college or start a family. A coworker of mine is going on a show tour around the country soon so he got 2 months off work.
They sell an extended service contract that basically means you can call them 24/7 and they will hand-hold you, walk you through problems/setups/configuration, send somebody out, repair your appliance at their own warehouse if needed, and if they can’t fix it, they talk to the manufacturer for you. I’ve been told there’s been times they’ve given customers a completely new product because it failed too many times.
When products are returned because of damage, they get repaired at their warehouse, and then sold in special clearance stores…I think with the same service contract options.
We have a floor model dishwasher for half the price that you can buy one of these 8 year service contracts for. It’s an amazing deal given the level of service they give you.
They price match too - so their appliances are guaranteed to be the same price as any other authorize retailer like Lowes or Home Depot.
I know know how far they deliver, but I expect that if you live too far away from one of these states the service can’t be as good as it is around here…
But still, in my mind, there is just literally no reason to shop at one of these inferior retailers if you have PC Richard & Son as an option.
Best place I’ve ever worked! I feel so good when I make a sale. I feel like I really helped somebody & made their life better, because I know we are the best.

Lowes has a process called RTM, if the thing isnt repairable then it goes in the scrap pile in the back of a store. If its repairable it is done offsite and then sent back to sell. Their phone system sucks, everything gets routed through customer service or operators both are busy constantly. If you call direct to the department it will ring forever. Only way to get ahold of someone quick is to ask for MOD or ASM then they think your affiliated with Lowe's.

That Lowe's just needs to go with a different repair company for their appliances. I work for an appliance repair company that does warranty repairs for Lowe's, we absolutely do not do any repairs in store no matter what the initial issue was. All repairs are taken to our shop and the appliance gets tested thoroughly, after all it's our name on the machine too. We've never seen the same machine twice. Side note, LG and Samsung are notoriously bad for customer service and reliability. We do more work on LG and Samsung than any other brand, and because both brands keep trying to come out with the latest and greatest machines with all the bells and whistles, many parts are no longer made for appliances that may only be a few years old. So when an issue inevitably comes up, there's nothing we can do to even fix it, the customer is forced to buy a new machine.

John V pffft thats bullshit. Whoever you are working for has taught you laziness. He called Lowe’s. They picked up the unit. You should know as well as I do what that means.

M Watkins do you repair appliances? The fact that he called Lowe’s and returned it to the store means something that John V should know. He is spewing generalities that are hurting those in his line of business. I want to know if he knows the proper procedure. If he doesnt know it, he is part of the problem. If he is part of the problem then he needs to stop running his mouth.

@@teppi5119 where ever you went to school taught you poor reading comprehension skills. Guess I got to break the whole process down for you. If Lowe's sell an appliance and it has problems out of the box, they'll just exchange the appliance immediately to keep the customer satisfied, then they'll have the defective machine repaired. Now Lowe's does not have water hookups, 220V receptacles, gas lines, and venting, so there is no way to test an appliance in store. Because of that, we do not do any repairs in store. We send out our own trucks to pick up the appliance so we can take it to our shop where we can hook up the machine and fully test all functions of it. And when the repair is completed we give them a full detailed breakdown of everything we did and they then put that print out on the appliance so that all customers can read it themselves. We then bring the machine back to Lowe's ourselves. Not sure what's lazy about that... Not all appliance repair companies are able to do this. If you watch his previous video, he said he asked the sales associate what the issue was and they shrugged their shoulders and said the repair was done in store. Once again, there is no way for them to test the appliance in store.

John V and company. I work in the same industry and nobody answered my question and proved my point. This is a store stock unit because he called Lowe’s. Had he called lg it would have been a customer repair, and a hell of a lot smoother AND that unit would not have ended up back on the floor. I’m surprised you missed that. To the gentleman that did this in 1987. Congrats. Did you work on appliances only or consumer electronics like TVs as well? A lot has changed since 1987 bud. The pay for one job is ridiculously low, customers make their appointments online and no more reps from the manufacturers going out to make sure your company is functioning correctly. John V I don’t care how extensive you write everything down on paper. No one reads that. The serial number is all you need. Not your shops promise they didn’t forget to put all the screws back. If that ain’t your business John v good, cause you have no basis for your bullshit explanation. If it is your business, I’ll see you at the next convention.

I went to lowes 4 months ago because I needed a new dishwasher and they sold me a 1000 kitchenaide machine for 500 still in box because the model was last years model. Was allowed to purchase the additional 4 year warranty really the best appliance deal I ever got. I was also able to register it. Very glad I didnt have to deal with what happened to you.

I love your living room, although the ladder in the kitchen is a little strange. Maybe you should take out that garage door and put in a nice front door, otherwise, great way to live. For a handyman that is one nice Rolex. GMT? I drive a school bus and wear a Daytona. Not a person has noticed.

I purchased a returned washer from Lowes a few years ago. Looked great, salesman told me when they delivered it would not fit where they wanted it. So I was getting a deal......
After I hooked it up and it ALMOST WORKED I pulled it out and checked the label, the it was 3 years old.
Told Lowes manager that "As a Appliance store they made a good hardware".

Appliances often sit in warehouses for many years from manufacture date before it is sent to a store and sold. This is not uncommon with models that have not changed in a while.

I used to work at Lowes, Used Too! It's impossible working there. Call Lowes corporate while your standing in line to lodge a formal complaint. That generally gets someone's attention. No training, threats of being fired, and understaffed leaves the employees best down.

Here is a story for you. Circa 1997 I bought a couch from Rooms-to- Go. The couch was delivered and I sat on it. Quickly I realized the support in butt area was broken. Well, it wasn't rapped up like the loveseat they also delivered so I was suspicious. A few weeks later they brought a new couch and were taking the broken one. So I wrote a letter explaining what happened to me and how it was delivered broken with my name and phone number. I placed the letter half in and half out the cushion zipper. Wouldn't you know a few weeks later I get a call. The guy found my note and said they delivered the couch in a broken condition to him.
Scumbags. I still have that furniture too!

So that's how retail works? Sell a subpar item and then someone returns it and the retailer just puts it back on the floor and waits for the next fool to come along and buy it and hope they don't complain about it. Do that enough times and eventually you'll sell it to someone that will just take it home and keep and deal with it because they don't want to go through the hassle of returning it. So as far as retailers go it's all just a numbers game.....eventually you'll hit the jackpot and find just the right fool to give you the money and take it off your hands without complaining.

@@michaelb.8953 @Michael B. Yes, the mark-up on furniture esp. is so high that stores can pick it up & restock/resell it quite a few times & still make a profit. Customers really should make more effort to refuse noticeably sub-par products. So this BS stops. I always check deliveries at the curb for obvious problems. Don't even let the stuff into your house before doing that. Return pick-ups can take weeks & in that time many people decide, screw it, I'll just keep it... 😳

Just serviced my 25 year old Kenmore 70 series washer and dryer. New basket drive for $50, some cleaning, new maintenance kit for the dryer for $13 (belt, rollers and felt seals) and they run like new. I've heard the horror stories about all these new washers breaking an won't be "upgrading" anytime soon.

getdealtwithquick I’m still using a Maytag set we bought in 1985. The washer has been repaired 3-4 times and the dryer has had a couple of repairs in all those years. I’ll never buy another set until I have to. (We have had to resort to getting some parts off junk washers the last time my husband worked on it.)
