While most radio shows used one or two sound-effect experts, Dragnet used five: a script clocking in at just under 30 minutes could require up to 300 effects. Accuracy was underlined: The exact number of footsteps from one room to another at Los Angeles police headquarters were mimicked, and when a telephone rang at Friday's desk, the listener heard the same ring as the telephones in Los Angeles police headquarters.
5/18/50 : Especially appreciate the air dates of these great radio Dragnet episodes.Webb was a genius👌 • Funny how Romero always complains about the weather 😅
I like that, in the early Dragnet radio plays, they made Joe Friday into a regular guy with a mom who worries and a dog he loved. I wonder why they dropped his mom and never mentioned a dog again?
Ya , his Mom was cool. Always so concerned about her Boy ... if she only knew 😲 yea Ma ..just a couple shoot outs with some mainline addicts . No big deal 😎
Mom's voice was one of the show's most distinct; she played lots of characters in the series. She typically sounded....adorable! She played the neighbor in the episode where the lady got out of prison and killed the woman who made a home for her......super good episode, can't remember the name (no surprise there lol)...
@@moxievintage1390 Hi Moxie, I believe the actress who played Joe’s Mom (and many other characters) was Peggy Webber. If I am incorrect, please someone correct me. 😀
They did carry a bar thing ? for protection A Sap ? Mabey ? They did away with them as things got out of hand . No more just breaking shoulder blades . It moved on to Cracked skulls .. yep . That’s enough.. although they probley deserved it 😎
I thought Ben trained Friday. He acts like he’s the boss. All the time.If Ben wants a Coke let him have one! Lighten up Just because Friday seems to be a masochist doesn’t mean we all have to suffer!
The Big Pug". Two robbers hold up the owner of a cafe in the parking lot of a bank and beat her up. Detective Sergeant Friday is assigned to robbery detail. An elderly woman on her way to the bank has been robbed and beaten senseless. The suspects are cruel and ruthless. It’s Friday’s job to get them.
Soooo ? Why do they say the Big Whatever in the title . The Big Knife ,ect they just started it awhile back . I’ll call it “The Big Question “. 9/21 so no one knows ?

Good stuff. I think if I was going to face a boxer, even a not very good one, I would have called for a dozen or so back up cops.
great show ,glad they got them.😊
I wonder if Joe ever carried a blackjack , just to soften up the hoods.

What does bunko stand for ? I often hear them mention that on Dragnet.
"Bunco" refers to all robbery-type felonies committed by means of fraud or other type of confidence scheme.
@@LordZontar Thank you for your reply stating what bunko means.
@@LordZontar Correction I meant bunco.
Fraud or deceit, started with players cheating at the dice game “Bunco”
@@LordZontar AKA Crimes by the Flim Flam Men against vulnerable citizens of Los Angeles!
"Billy Marshall.
They call him Billy 'The Kid' Marshall"

Lol the plastic watchman, it’s like Abbott and Costello
That old guy at the plant was infuriating.
Hi William, are you referring to the man who swept up? I liked him! He made Friday slow down a bit. 😀

It's wise to smoke.
I'm looking for THESE Amazing Fatima cigarettes.. but I Guess they probably Merged into conglomerate... Lol 😎
bansheemania Fatima cigarettes were discontinued in 1980.
