    So attempted murder can carry as little as a 1 year sentence, but robbery has a minimum of 5 and no maximum? You'd almost think that property is more important than people.

      YOU'RE FORGETTING THAT ARMED ROBBERY IS A FAR MORE PREVALENT CRIME THAN MURDER- AND IT CALLED FOR A STIFFER DETERRENT!!!
      AND BACK THEN, MURDER CARRIED THE DEATH PENALTY- AND THE COURTS WERE A LOT MORE INCLINED TO ENFORCE IT THAN THEY ARE TODAY: BUT THAT WAS BEFORE THE COMMIELIBS AND DO GOODERS SUBVERTED THE JUSTICE SYSTEM!!!

      Yeah, the law was weird back then. Certain drugs could get you life for even small amounts. Abortion, homosexual sodomy and pornography were serious crimes. Yet child molesters usually just copped misdemeanors. Very different times.

    I watched Dragnet for many years when I was young. I was always captivated by the voice proclaiming that the crimes were real, but names have been changed to protect the innocent. I really believed in the show! Love it and love it still, easy to watch.

    The beatenen up John Maloney character and the Sgt. Tony Chavez in "The Big Boys" episode was played by Harry Bartell. A lot of recycling of the character actors here. Better on the production costs.

    How in Heaven's name could people not spot that it was a man dressed as a woman? (The Adam's apple on a thick neck, larger wrists, etc.), not to mention fooling the proprietors of an all-woman hotel? The residents of L.A. must have had some vision problems that year!😛🤩

    Originally telecast on April 1, 1954, and adapted from a February 9, 1950 radio episode {however, they left out the part orgiinally mentioned at the very end, where Hal Gibney noted, "While serving his time in the State Penitentary, he was stabbed to death by another inmate."}.

    Why no ballistics test on the gun that blond woman was carrying? They looked at the bullets from the victims, should be an easy thing to compare a bullet fired from the gun to the ones taken from the victims.

    When Jack Webb revived "Dragnet" in '67, Ben Alexander was unavailable to reprise his role as Frank Smith, so Harry Morgan joined the show as Bill Gannon. (As for Ben, he was starring in a cop show for ABC!)
