- Welcome to this episode of Straight-Up - Today we are discussing the power of Mind Control and False Prophets. Our guest Sheri Briggs was raised in a Cult and experienced firsthand how they used Fear to keep her under their control - fear of rejection, fear of making friends outside of church, fear of failure, fear of questioning authority, fear of being separated from her family. Then at 17 God started to show her His Truth and it began to tear down that “Wall of fears”. Sheri was 18 years old- when the “False Prophet" died and the elders claimed he was Jesus Christ. They demanded that all the members from all over the Country come to LA and pray for his resurrection. Hundreds came and filled the Church. They stood shoulder to shoulder and prayed for Three Days and Nights for his Resurrection. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing and watching. God began to shine a flood-light and reveal the false teachings she had been taught.. He was setting her FREE with HIS TRUTH and HIS LOVE for her. You will be blown away by this testimony.

I was in a cult too. Main focus was deliverance, and very very bizarre. Left at 3am one night

This is happening in many Churches we have to be aware and read the Bible. In this days there are many so call prophets that dont fear The only God tha Create heaven and earth. Thankyou Renee and Sheri and Sheila this is really important for the ones that are new in church so that they wont be deceive.
God Bless you Sheri for sharing your story. This description of control sounds similar to what the direction some organisations in this world want to direct us into. It also sounds similar to what happens within a family with one or two narcissistic parents.

I was raised in Mormonism, which is a cult. The Lord saved me at age 33.. I know this also like the back of my hand . I Hold tight to my Liberty

This is timely .. people need discernment and hope .. it's devastating to come into warfare unprepared. Mental acuity and focus is a life preserver . Stand up and fight against the enemy hold your ground against the darkness.
Renew your mind daily . Protect yourself and family from deception fast, pray and seek His company. Sometimes this battle makes you walk alone and that is one hard place to be. Nonetheless it burns off apathy and makes you zealous for real relationship with Creator YHWH. Messiah Jesus Yahusha. My dad was in a cult that put my 3 Yr old daughter in hospital, she almost died. I wanted to leave the church and they said she would die if I left. God saved her. Amen

Jesus exhorted His true church to be aware of Matthew 7 v 15 "Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly they are ravening wolves". Amazing testimony Sheri of how God in His tender love and mercy set you free from deception and your life's heartfelt ministry to the homeless poor and needy is so Christ centred and awe inspiring to the body of Christ! Very painful topic. I was raised Mormon and although doesn't sound as controlling, it was still hard to break away from because it's such a CULTURE of either you're in the "club" or you're out. So to speak. I am so sorry Sheri, but so glad you made it out!! God is good ;-)

Praise God Sheri! His eyes were watching over you. I have been very perplexed over some family members that need set free. Even my prayers are fought against. Spiritual “static” every time I am praying for them. It is comforting to know that God drew you near to Him despite all of the obstacles.
Thank you for sharing how the gospel message is twisted by the enemy through false preaching. "God will use the dark hour of our soul" is so true. Knowing the actual Bible itself is key! The gospel of Jesus unites people with love. It doesn't segregate with fear. I've tasted the control thing in religions and families. Praise God the Word has power and light and is mighty to save! We did not have any intent with that design. Someone else designed it. We are in the process of changing it.

I was in a cult called The Kings Inn in Prince Geroge British Colombia Canada in the 1970's. After 3 years I had had enough and just walked away. Even then I was stalked by the leader until I got wind of two underage girls he thought I did not know about. One was just 13. I turned him over to police and the stalking stopped. Even today at age 73 still I have problems with it resurfacing. Sheri's words are very accurate as she went through a mirror image of what I did. Glad you got out. I am encouraging this friend of mine who's a Christian and struggling in Nacissistic abuseby her Mom, sexual abuse, from her Dad,
and now she found out she's terminally ill, I am trying to reach out to her, but she said I just feel like turning away from my faith because God gave me this disease when I am financially struggling I just think Jesus really don't care, No matter how I cried out,
I will just leave my faith,
The other one, left Church, has been serving the Church for decades but she left because she said the Church kick her out. She's so wounded that she turned into some occult religion.
I've been praying for many souls, and God just gave me so much compassion and burden it hurts so much,
I just can't imagine how Jesus felt 😭 seeing all these pain
He is so patient with us.

These words are water and comfort to my heart.
God led me to intercede and pray.
I had dreamt last year.
And last 2016, and now I am seeing this coming to pass, right before my eyes.
Jesus Christ is truly near.
I saw a river and it's somewhere not from this world,
And I saw Jesus giving instructions instructions to the angels. It's like the whole world gathered, but where I stand is earth, and I am wearing a white robe and many, many more people wearing white robe.
Jesus asked the angel, and the angel fulfilled it. Then Jesus got up so fast, like light. As the angel fulfilled the command, I saw that the plan he carried out was happening now.
Now, it makes sense to me. I just didn't realize it will be in our time.

Oh man, this is my life. Not in a cult church, but my parents raised us in a cult atmosphere. We weren't allowed to have friends, not allowed to communicate with family without being supervised, we had basically all thekinds of abuse. Then I grew up, was excited to be free, and was immediately sick all the time. I haven't been able to develop friendships because of being sick all the time. I finally went to church when I could, but all the relationships were needy people (homeless people, a transgender person who felt compelled to go to church and was basically not accepted by peers- you need to have a relationship with Christ before getting changed, and those people didn't allow that to happen. Other sick people. Etc). I never had people to support me, with the exception of my Bible study friend. My only other friends are a non Christian couple from work. I am pretty alone, which is better than being in relationship with abusers. I am married, and have a little bit there, but he has issues, as we all do, with some of his family too. I need to start going to church again (moved), but I need to not be sick first. I have really been hating being alive, and Jesus has been giving me soul hugs and support. It just feels like such a lame life🙄

Wow Renee! I never knew you had a show! I love it. It is so uplifting, especially hearing from women around my age. Like-minded people. Here in Mass, I have not found a "church", #1, because, I don't want to sit in a pew each day, with traditions, rules, works, gossip parties and back-biting. Yes, when I first started, Oh my gosh, just the thought of being there actually scares me. No, until I move, which I would loved to do...God willing, I read the Word, and have a couple "teachers", on UA-cam. One being Curry Blake out of Dallas. His "services" are actually training sessions for Dicipleship, and living your daily life like the Book of Acts. Anyway, I got off track. I am so glad I caught this today Renee, Wonderful. I had never heard of John Roberts Stevens but it’s pretty sad that when I googled him there is literally nothing saying he ran a cult. He is described as a minister of God.
There is actually a class action lawsuit underway now against the Church. People are waking up.

I just don’t understand how all these people supposedly had these experiences and yet when I was molested, abused as a freaking child or there’s people that’s going through some stuff as kids, and there was no Holy Spirit I died once I didn’t have no experience I didn’t meet Jesus None of that. What makes you so much better than us or other people that gone through worse
@Eddie Torres. I'm sorry to hear about the tough times you had growing up. There's no answer as to why some people have an experience like you described or they don't. Many people who have had an experience with God, etc., have people in their lives who pray for you them. Sometimes the person who prayed has already died but God still answers their prayers. Some people have a lot of believing family members for many generations and that reverence for God in Te family line gives God the ground for special encounters. Then sometimes it happens to people who don't seem to have ever had anyone pray for them. But whatever.it is that lets such things happen for some, it isn't because some people are better off Han others. The Bibke tells us that we have all sinned against God and the best one among us, their sins are like filthy rags before a holy God. But God loves each person with a great love. We aren't bad because of what we've gone through. It isn't because people have done bad things to us that keeps Ggod away from us. Sometimes there are dark forces at work around some people to keep them from turning to God and get set from their hold on us.They don't want you to know about Jesus. They work in the lives of people for generations turning people toward evil so that kids in the future have a bad start and never hear about Jesus. But those things cannot keep you from calling out to Jesus and ask Him if He's real, you want to belong to Him. You want forgiveness for what you've done wrong and you want Him to make you clean. Only Jesus can do that for us. There are many people who have had terrible lives and done awful things who discovered that Jesus loved even them and they got free. The past was wiped clean. They felt something heavy come off if them. Colors were brighter and they felt clean. Then, they started living in a way that pleases God.
I too was abused/molested as a child. The abuser even casually contacted me again on Facebook in my adulthood. I can say for a fact, that Jesus is healing me. Being healed is a process. Just like if you're dealing with healing cuts and wounds.
Ask Jesus Christ to deliver you from the hurt/pain of these traumatic events, with a sincere heart. If He helped me, he can certainly help you.

Eddie, I’m so sorry for all you were forced to endure. I too was molested by my alcoholic father. I actually write about that too in my book. My prayers are for you and for healing in every way you are needing.
